Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of learning mathematics through the application of the Field Trip method in class VII based on student learning outcomes, activity, and student responses. This research is quantitative approachwithpre-experimental study and sampling technique used is cluster random sampling. Data analysis technique used is descriptive and inferential analysis techniques. The results of descriptive analysis showed: (1) average results of students' pretest was 20,5(very lo category), average student posttest result was 77,7(high category) (2) the posttest results showed that classical completeness was reached student activity at 90% (18 students), (3) average normalized gain was 0.7(high category), (4) average student activity was 92% (very good category), (5) average percentage of students who gave positive response of 94%. Inferential analysis results show: (1) the average value of students after being taught with the fieldtrip learning method is greater than 70, (2) the normalized average gain value is greater than 0.3 (medium category), (3) the percentage of positive student responses greater than 70%. From the results of this study it can be concluded that learning by applying the Field Trip methods is effectively applied to students of grade VII.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive research that aims to describe the metacognition of high school students in solving mathematical problems regarding students' academic abilities. The subjects were students in grade XI on a High School that selected based on certain criteria with snowball sampling technique. The data were collected through problem-solving test which was supported by interview data. Based on the research result, can be concluded that students with high and low academical abilities had an awareness of the facts they had and were aware of how to use a strategy. However, only high-ability students had an awareness of when and why a strategy should be applied. It showed that in solving mathematical problems students with high academical ability involve three aspects of metacognitive knowledge namely declarative knowledge, procedural knowledge, and conditional knowledge nicely, while students with low academical ability only involve two aspects of metacognitive knowledge i.edeclarative knowledge and procedural knowledge.

Abstract

This research aims to produce a design-based Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) learning in the integer’s operations materials that can make class VII students understand the integer’s operations materials and resolve issues related to integer’s operations. The type of research used is Design Research. The subject of this study was a grade VII junior high students. In this research, researchers made HLT the earliest suspect of the learning activity carried out in two test cycles until the expected learning design was obtained. The results of a retrospective analysis showed that the design of learning was compiled to provide positive changes to class VII junior high students in understanding the concept of integer’s operations. From the work of several groups, the majority of students have achieved the learning objectives, namely understanding integers, determining the sum of integers, determining the reduction of integers and solve daily problems relating to integer’s operations. The work of students are accompanied by conjectures that occur or do not occur in the learning process that has been compiled in HLT.

This study aims to analyze the direct effect of Emotional Quotient (EQ) and Adversity Quotient (AQ) on Mathematics Learning Achievement in class XI SMA. In this analysis, EQ and AQ are independent variables while Mathematics Learning Achievement is the dependent variable. The sampling technique in this study used the cluster proportional random sampling method and the number of samples was 158 students. Data collection techniques, namely by using test and non-test instruments. The instruments used were (1) EQ questionnaire, (2) adversity response profile questionnaire, and (3) mathematics learning achievement test. Methods of data analysis using multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The results showed that: (1) students 'EQ was in the medium category, and students' AQ was in the camper category, while Mathematics Learning Achievement was in the low category, (2) EQ had an influence on Mathematics Learning Achievement, and (3) AQ has no influence on Mathematics Learning Achievement.

Abstract

This research was intended to describe student’s reflection thinking ability on solving HOTS questions based on students logical mathematical intelligence. This study was descriptive research with qualitative approach. Subjects of this study were ninth grader students of middle school, consisting of one student with high logical mathematical intelligence, one student with moderate logical mathematical intelligence, one student with low logical mathematical intelligence. Instruments in this study were logical mathematical intelligence test, high order thinking skill questions, and interview guideline. For reflective thinking ability, there are three phases that must be through by students. They are reacting, comparing, and contemplating phases. Research result showed that: 1) For reacting phase; students with high, moderate, and low logical mathematical intelligence fulfilled each indicator to react with their personal understanding. 2) For comparing phase; students with high and moderate logical mathematical intelligence fulfilled each indicator by analysing and evaluating their existing knowledge; student with low logical mathematical intelligence doesn’t meet any indicators. 3) For Contemplating phase; student with high logical mathematical intelligence fulfilled each indicator by solving the questions referring to the knowledge that she remembered; students with moderate and low logical mathematical intelligence don’t meet any indicators.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that cause student misconceptions form 9th grade on algebraic form fraction in terms of the principles of constructivism learning theory. This type of research is qualitative research using a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were 5 grade 9 students who experienced the most misconceptions with the lowest scores. The instrument used in this study was a student misconception diagnostic test consisting of several descriptive items accompanied by Certainty of Response Index (CRI) and an interview guide. The principles of constructivism learning theory referred to in this study are the learning environment, students' initial knowledge, student abilities, student activeness in learning and student learning experiences. The results showed that the misconception was caused by several factors, both internal and external, in terms of the principles of constructivism theory.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to develop mathematical learning media based on visual basics and describe the quality of the media based on aspects of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This type of research is development research with the ADDIE model which includes 5 stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The instruments used in this research are the form of media assessment sheets by material experts, media experts, and teachers to measure validity; response questionnaires for the media and observation sheets for the learning implementation to measure practicality; and learning outcomes tests to measure the effectiveness of the media. Respondents for theproduct trial are students of class VIII SMP which consists of 6 students. The results showed that theassessment by material experts, media experts, and teacher obtained very good criteria so that the media was declared valid. The results of the response questionnaire analysis of teacher and students to the media obtained very good criteria. The results of observations of the implementation of learning showed a very good classification. The percentage of classical completeness from student learning outcomes tests reached 83,3% so the media was declared effective.
