Abstract

This research was pre experimental research. The experimental design used was One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design which aims to describe and to know the problem solving ability of students of class VIII 3 was taught by applying the model of Missouri Mathematics Project of grade VIII 3. The population was the students of class VIII and the sample was class VIII 3 consisting of 30 students as an experimental class. Based on the results of research and discussion, students were able to solve mathematical problems based on indicators of mathematical problem solving ability. The result of hypothesis test shows: 1)The mean posttest score of the students meets the determined KKM value that is greater equal to 78. This means that the postest average value is significantly greater than 77.9; 2)The average normalized gain value exceeds the medium category. This means that the average value of the gain normalized significantly more than 0.29; and 3)The posttest score obtained by the students has been completed by classical test based on the proportion test. This means that the classical mastery of students' mathematical problem solving abilities after the applied learning model of the Missouri Mathematics Project is significantly more than 0.849.

Abstract

This Research aimed to obtain information about the analysis of student’s conceptual and procedural comprehending in solving mathematics problems based on learning styles, the aimed of this research was done by descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research consists of six people. The six subjects were chosen based on the learning style category of students of class X in SMA Bulukumba. Two subjects represented visual learning style categories (PAR and MRK), two subjects represented auditory learning styles categories (ARR and HMY) and two subjects represented kinesthetic learning styles categories (MTA and SZD). Instruments in this research were the researchers itself as the main instrument supported by the instrument of learning style questionnaire, conceptual and procedural comprehending test and interview guidelines. The results of this research indicate that subjects with visual learning styles and subjects with auditory learning styles meet three indicators of conceptual comprehending. Whereas the subject with kinesthetic learning styles is the subject of MTA meet three indicators of conceptual comprehending and the subject of SZD meet only two indicators of conceptual comprehending. For procedural comprehending all subjects do not meet the knowledge indicators of the algorithm, knowledge of techniques and methods and criteria for determining when to use appropriate procedures. This suggests that the learning style of the students has no connection with their conceptual and procedural comprehending

Abstract

This research aims to know the description of students' learning difficulties in learning mathematics on the topik of Plane viewed from students' mathematical connection ability. This research is descriptive research using a qualitative approach. Retrieval of the subject is formed by providing mathematical connection ability tests to students of class VIII and from the result of mathematical connection ability selected purposively 5 subjects. The instrument in this research is the test of mathematics connection ability, a diagnostik test of mathematics learning difficulties, and interview guidelines. Students' learning difficulties analyzed base on 5 indicators of learning difficulties, it contains abnormality of visual perception, interference of spatial relation, the association of visual-motor, difficulty in understanding symbol, difficulty in language and reading. The results showed that (1) subject with very good mathematical connection ability feel difficult in interference of spatial relation, (2) subject with good mathematical connection ability find difficulties in interference of spatial relation and association of visual-motor, (3) subject with moderate mathematical connection ability find difficulties in abnormality of visual perception, interference of spatial relation and association of visual-motor, (4) subject with low mathematical connection ability find difficulties in interference of spatial relation, association of visual-motor, abnormality in visual perception, difficulty in language and reading, (5) subject with very low mathematical connection ability experience difficulties in all the indicators of learning difficulties.

Abstract

This research is a quasi experiment which aims to find out (1) the students' prior knowledge teach by using flipped classroom learning strategy and not using the flipped classroom learning strategy, (2) the students’ achievement teach by using the flipped classroom learning strategy and not using the flipped classroom learning strategy, (3) the influence of flipped classroom learning strategy to students’ achievement with regarding to students’ prior knowledge. The population of this research is 9th grade junior high school students in Gowa Regency. The sample of this research is 28 students as the experiment group and 30 students as control group. The data obtained are then analyzed descriptively and inferentially. After analyzed, the results of this study were (1) the average value of prior knowledge of the treatment group is in the low category whereas the average score of the students’ prior knowledge in the control group is in very low category, (2) the students' learning achievement of the treatment group is in the moderate category and the students' learning achievement in the control group is in a low category, (3) flipped classroom learning strategy influence students’ achievement with regarding to students’ prior knowledge

Abstract

This research is a quasi experiment which involved two groups with different treatment. Objectives of this research were to know the students’ mathematics learning motivation between the application of conventional and hypnoteaching learning models on students grade X. The population in this research is students grade X in State Senior High School in Makassar, South Sulawesi and then two schools and two classes are selected by cluster random technique as research sample. Data analysis by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The result was obtained the improving of mathematics learning motivation on students who taught by using hypnoteaching learning model is greater than the improving of mathematics learning motivation on students who taught by using conventional learning model.

Abstract

This study is a quasi-experimental research that aims to identify: (1) student learning outcomes before and after applied cooperative Probing Prompting method in the experimental class; (2) student learning outcomes before and after applied cooperative learning model in the control class; (3) Probing Prompting method affected to student learning outcomes based on the increase of student learning outcomes from both classes; (4) the increase of mathematics learning outcomes of the students taught using Probing Prompting method. The population of this study is all students in grade X MIPA on six classes. The writer chose two classes using simple random sampling. The data were collected by using observation and test. The method of analyzing data used descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The result of descriptive statistical analysis is (1) the average of pretest and posttest results of the students taught using cooperative Probing Prompting method and cooperative learning model are: (i) 3.18 and 64.76; (ii) 3.42 and 52.35; (2) the increase of mathematics learning outcomes of the students taught using Probing Prompting method is 64.76 classified as moderate category. The result of inferential statistical analysis is the increase of mathematics learning outcomes of the students taught using cooperative Probing Prompting method is greater than cooperative learning model.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi kesalahan siswa dalam operasi perkalian dengan menerapkan metode perkalian latis. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subjek penelitian adalah 24 siswa yang dipilih secara purposive. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kelas VII dari salah satu SMP di Parepare. Tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Intrumen penelitian yang digunakan terdiri atas lembar observasi, soal tes, dan angket. Desain PTK menggunakan model Kemmis dan Tanggart yang meliputi perencanaan, tindakan/pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Skor rata-rata hasil tes matematika siswa setelah pemberian tindakan pada siklus I adalah 58,33 dari skor ideal 100 dan sebanyak 15 siswa yang melakukan kesalahan dalam operasi perkalian. Sedangkan skor rata-rata hasil tes matematika siswa setelah pemberian tindakan pada siklus II adalah 80,83 dari skor ideal 100 dan sudah tidak ada lagi siswa yang melakukan kesalahan. Kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal operasi perkalian bilangan bulat dan bilangan pecahan desimal terdapat tiga aspek kesalahan yaitu kesalahan dalam memahami konsep, kesalahan proses penyelesaian, dan kesalahan penarikan kesimpulan. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode latis dapat mengurangi kesalahan siswa dalam operasi perkalian ditinjau dari kemampuan awal siswa SMP di Parepare

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the level of visual thinking in understanding the formal definition of real numbers sequence based on cognitive style of Field Independent type and also cognitive style of Field Dependent type of students in Mathematis Department of UNM. Visual thinking is one of the abilities that becomes the bridge for transforming information from abstract-verbs to clearer forms. Wileman (Stoke, 2001) defines visual thinking as the ability to convert information of all kinds into images, graphics, or other forms that can help communicate information. The research method used in this research is descriptive research method design. The level of visual thinking is measured by using a test instrument with a special indicator measuring the level of visual thinking. The subject of this study consisted of two persons representing the type of cognitive style, the Field Dependent type cognitive style (FD) with the Field Independent cognitive style (FI). The results of this study show the location of the shortcomings and advantages of students in visual thinking on each type of cognitive style. In addition, it is found that there is a relationship between the level of visual thinking with the thinking style of the students in Mathematics Department of UNM.

Abstract

This research aims to find the influence of Self-directed Learning (SDL) and mathematics disposition on mathematics learning achievement of students.This research is an ex-post facto research. Population of this study is the whole student in one of senior high school located in South Sulawesi academic year 2017/2018 with the total of 638 students. 180 students were selected by using disproportionated stratified random sampling method where the number of sample for each level was 60 students. Data were obtained by using ordered scale instrument of self-rating scale of self-directed learning (SRSSDL), mathematics disposition questionnaire and test of mathematics learning achievement. data analysis technique applied was multiple linear regression by using software IBM SPSS Statistics 24. The results of data analysis show students’ self-directed learning is in intermediate level, students’ mathematics disposition is in high level and students’ mathematics learning achievement is in low level. Simultaneously, Self-directed learning and mathematics disposition positively affect on mathematics learning achievement of students of SMA Negeri 9 Maros, where 18,66% of mathematics learning achievement can be explained by SDL and mathematics disposition simultaneously. Partially, the variable SDL affects learning achievement in the amount of 5,38% while the variable mathematics disposition influence mathematics learning achievement for 4%. Each increasing for one score on SDL will improve mathematics learning achievement for 0,164 while the increase for one score of mathematics disposition will improve the learning achievement for 0,281.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the student’s ability to solve mathematical problems with Polya's steps (understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan and looking back,) viewed from personality types according to Keirsey. This research is descriptive-qualitative. The research subjects were 4 students from class XI of Senior High School, with one subject for each personality type. The research instrument uses personality type classification instruments, problem-solving tests, and interview guidelines. The results of the research showed that from each of the students with the type of Keirsey personality, in solve mathematical problems more tend to be on types of Guardian and Rational personalities, can do every step of Polya’s problem-solving. Next, are the Idealist and Artisan types which are still lacking at the steps certain solving the problem of the problems given.
