Abstract

Jabatan kepala sekolah menarik untuk dikaji karena sistem pengangkatannya belum mempersyaratkan kompetensi profesional (sebagai administrator, manager, pemimpin pendidikan dan supervisor pendidikan) sebagai kriteria pertimbangannya. Sebagai administrator dia harus mampu mendayagunakan sumber yang tersedia secara optimal. Sebagai manager dia harus mampu bekerja bersama dan melalui orang lain dalam organisasi kerja sekolah, dan sebagai pemimpin pendidikan dia harus mampu mengkoordinasikan dan menggerakkan semua potensi manusiawi untuk mewujudkan tujuan pendidikan. Sebagai supervisor pendidikan dia wajib membantu guru meningkatkan kapasitasnya untuk membelajarkan murid secara optimal.

Abstract

This study was designed to describe the pupils' ability in using prepositions. Data were collected from 112 fourth graders of elementary schools in Sentul, Blitar Municipality, by observing and evaluating their compositions. The analysis was focused on describing the fequency and accuracy of the use of monomorphemic and polymorphemic prepositions. It was found out that 82.41 % of the pupils used the monomorphemic prepositions accurately, and 100 % of them used the polymorphemic prepositions accurately. The total accurate use was 85.48 %.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesalahan sederhana siswa SD kelas tinggi dalam mengerjakan soal matematika. Sampel ditarik secara purposif sebanyak 321 siswa kelas V dan VI SDN Kauman 1, Sawojajar 1, Madyopuro 1, dan Sawojajar 5, semuanya di kota Malang. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes isian yang berjumlah 29 item soal. Analisis dilakukan dengan statistik persentase dan analisis varian satu jalur melalui paket program SPSS/PC+. Disimpulkan bahwa siswa SDN kelas tinggi melakukan kesalahan sederhana dalam mengerjakan soal matematika dalam materi bilangan pecahan, operasi aljabar, KPK, FPB, dan soal cerita. Terdapat perbedaan persentase rerata kesalahan siswa kelas tinggi, baik pada kelas V maupun kelas VI.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to reveal the developmental aspects of a model of vocational education as an empowering process. The subjects were santri of Pondok Pesantren Darussalam, Ciamis, West Java. Data were collected by participant observation, inteview, and document analysis. The technique of data analysis was qualitative analysis. It was found out that, in management aspect, a guide for vocational education was successfully made. The objectives of each kind of vocational education and the application of learning strategies were successfully arranged. In the evaluation and development aspects, the varied evaluation techniques, the systematized steps of evaluation, a set of evaluation formats, the criteria of the success of the program, and the formulation of follow-up activities were successfully constructed.

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate teachers’ teaching competence, supervision carried out by principals, and the effect of the supervision on teachers’ competence. This descriptive-correlational study involved a population of 989 teachers of all public junior high schools in Malang. Ten schools were randomly selected; then, proportional random sampling was employed to select the teachers from each school. A questionnaire and observation were used to collect the data, which were analyzed using mean statistics and linear regression. The findings show that teachers’ competence was of good category, that supervision by principals was of fair category, and that the supervision had a predicting power of 43.5% to improve teachers’ competence.

Abstract

This study was designed to formulate effective method in improving students’ competencies through Mosston’s model of teaching style spectrum. The design of the study were classroom action research. The subjects were students of health and sport education FKIP UNS. The results showed that the action improved subjects’ sensitivity about students’ need, goal achievement, and subject matter.

Abstract

Developing Instructional Package of Handicraft and Arts Subject for the Third Grade of Elementary School. Instructional process of handicrafts and arts subject in elementary schools have not yet optimally developed. One of the causes is that the textbooks used have not so far been organized based on prescriptive learning theories, and that teachers' guide is not available. This study was designed to develop an instructional package based on prescriptive learning theories, which is equipped with such components as manual, specific learning objectives, description of learning contents, summaries, exercises, answer key, and feedback. It can be said that this instructional package meets the requirements for being disseminated.

Abstract

The aim of this survey is to investigate the relationship between achievement motivation and interpersonal communication competence and the effectiveness of classroom management. Using multi-state sampling technique, this study involved 42 teacher respondents. Questionnaires were distributed, which were then statistically analyzed using regression. It was revealed that achievement motivation and interpersonal communication competence, both individually and aggregately, contribute to the effectiveness of classroom management.

Abstract

Masyarakat berperanan penting dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan di sekolah. Sekolah harus menjalin komunikasi efektif dengan masyarakat sebagai pendukungnya. Bahkan sekolah menggunakan sebagian besar waktunya untuk berkomunikasi. Komunikasi adalah ibarat darah kehidupan. Di sekolah dasar (SD) ditemukan masalah komunikasi sekolah dengan masyarakat, termasuk dengan orangtua murid. Penemuan masalah komunikasi tersebut berasal dari hasil penelitian, seminar regional, dan kajian teori. Diperlukan upaya pemecahan masalah komunikasi sekolah dengan masyarakat di SD, baik melalui kajian teoretis, praktis maupun proses analisis.

Abstract

Effects of Group Size on Productivity in Learning Group Discussion. This experimental research was designed to test the productivity difference between small group, medium group, and large group in problem solving discussion. The subjects were 36 students drawn randomly, which were assigned to discuss in the three kinds of group. The group product was ideas for solving problems posed, which were then evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively by three "judges" working independently. The analyses of variance and t-test were applied to analyse data. It was found out from the data analyses that the quantity of ideas produced by the three kinds of group had no significant differences, but the solution ideas produced by the medium group (with 6 members) were highest in quality.
