Abstract

Classroom Management and Its Relations to the Learning Achievement of the Third Graders of Elementary School. This classroom action research was aimed to find out information whether the learning achievement on social studies was different before and after treatment. The study was carried out in SDN 3 Mattoangin Makassar, South Sulawesi, and involved pupils and teacher of the 3rd grade. The result of the statistical analysis using t-tes showed that the t-value (2.96) was greater than the t-critical value at the level of significance 0.05 with degree of freedom 25 (2.06). It was concluded that there was a significant difference of learning achievement before and after the classroom action research.

Abstract

This descriptive-evaluative study aims at describing teachers' competence in implementing Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) in Civics and Social Education. Involving 32 fourth-grade teachers, this study employed questionnaires and documentation in collecting the data. The results of descriptive analyses indicate that teachers' competence was of fair category. This fair category applies to all these aspects: CTL development, teaching-strategy selection, application of the seven CTL elements, and CTL-procedure implementation. The teachers appeared not to have difficulty implementing CTL.

Abstract

 Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan jenis kemampuan administrasi/manajemen yang diperlukan eksekutif dan staf administratif lembaga pendidikan, dan mengungkap relevansi kurikulum AP dengan jenis kemampuan itu. Dari populasi para eksekutif di lembaga penyelenggara pendidikan dan satuan pendidikan di Jawa Timur, 135 orang sampel ditetapkan secara rambang purposif di SD-SMU, PTN dan PTS, Depdikbud, Dinas P dan K, dan Pusdiklat. Data dikumpulkan dengan angket dan dianalisis dengan statistik. Ditemukan bahwa kemampuan administrasi/manajemen pendidikan dinilai sangat diperlukan, dan kurikulum AP sangat relevan dengan kebutuhan nyata unit-unit kerja pendidikan di Jawa Timur.

Abstract

This classroom action research (CAR) aimed to improve students' ability in expressing their opinion in the PPKn class. It involved 96 students of the SLTP I Malang. The cycle model was implemented in this CAR. This study was able to improve students' ability in expressing their opinion. It enriched learning materials by utilizing school environment, textbooks, current events or issues, and strategies maximizing multimethods and multimedia use. The CAR improved the students' ability qualitatively and quantitatively.

Abstract

When writing, children should understand how knowledge of audience and purpose influences writing: the range of types of writing will vary according to the audience and the particular purpose. Unfortunately, many children seem to think that the teacher is the sole audience for classroom writing with the purpose of transmitting information or conveying ideas to the teacher for appraisal. This article highlights the importance of knowing audience and purpose when writing and the teachers’ role in a classroom context in helping children develop knowledge of audience and purpose by applying some possible writing activities in the classroom.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the planning and implementation of life-skill education at SMP Negeri 2 Selong, East Lombok. In this descriptive study, the researcher’s role was both as a subject and as the main instrument. The data were obtained from in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results revealed that the planning of life-skill education was strategically and operationally running well through the school vision, mission, and programs. The implementation of life-skill education consisted of personal skills or self awareness, thinking skills, social skills, academic skills and vocational skills which were integrated in the teaching learning process and in all the school activities. Life-skill education, which cannot be separated from the three aspects of education (cognition, affection and psychomotor), enabled the students to prepare themselves for possible life problems and to solve them.

Abstract

The study was intended to explore and describe the dissonance level of thinking behaviors in the daily life of traditional Muslem schools after the internalization of gender concept. The sample was purposively taken, comprising 4 religious leaders, 24 Islamic teachers, and 57 students. The data were collected using questionnaire, interview, and observation. The results show that the dissonance level of thinking behaviors among the Islamic teachers was relatively high, whereas that of the three groups ranged from accepting to hesitating. This was assumed to have been caused by the low level of understandings of gender concept.

Abstract

Perguruan Tinggi (PT) merupakan satuan pendidikan yang menyelenggarakan pendidikan tinggi. Dari penyelenggaraan pendidikan tinggi tersebut akan dapat dihasilkan sumber daya manusia (SDM) berkualitas tinggi, sebagaimana yang terumus dalam tujuan pendidikan nasional, yang mampu dan bertanggung jawab dalam membangun dirinya sendiri, bangsanya dan negaranya. Untuk itu dosen sebagai salah satu faktor penentu dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan tinggi perlu terus ditingkatkan kualitasnya. Selanjutnya, untuk meningkatkan kualitas dosen tersebut perlu dilakukan pengkajian dan perencanaan yang teliti dan mendalam agar dapat dihasilkan strategi yang komprehensif, efisien, efektif, terpadu, dan berkesinambungan.

Abstract

Dunia pendidikan sangat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai perubahan sebagai dampak dari kemajuan di bidang ilmu dan teknologi dan era globalisasi. Kecenderungan dunia pendidikan pun semakin transparan dan harus segera diantisipasi. IKIP sebagai lembaga pendidikan tinggi perlu segera menyusun suatu strstegi yang handal dalam memantapkan posisinya dalam pembangunan nasional menjelang abad XXI.

Abstract

This classroom action research was designed to improve the quality of teaching-learning process in chemistry at class 2 of SMUN 1 Mataram. Observation, evaluation, and analysis of teaching-learning process were conducted during the implementation of the planned experimentation in the classroom or laboratory. The results showed that the quality of teaching-learning process improved. The students' enjoyment in learning chemistry and their awareness of its importance in their daily life increased. Besides, both students' average scores and comprehension also increased.
