Abstract

This study was aimed at describing the problems faced by kindergarten students as seen by teachers and parents The data were collected from 12 kindergarten teachers and 245 parents, selected using the cluster random sampling technique, by using questionnaires. In addition, interviews were done with teachers. The results indicated that there were five problems faced by kindergarten students: social, emotional, moral, understanding-development, and language. The findings imply that role playing, modeling, and group guidance be implemented by kindergarten teachers in counseling processes.

Abstract

Relationship between Independence and Creativeness of Senior High School Students. The research was intended to test the correlation between the independence and the creativeness of SMU students. The sample consisted of 200 SMU students from Jember Municipality selected by proportional random sampling. The data were collected through a questionnaire and verbal test and then analyzed using regression analyses. The results indicate that there is a correlation between the independence of SMU students and their creativeness.

Abstract

Effectiveness of Group Learning in Mathematics Instruction. This quasi-experimental research was intended to know the effectiveness of group learning in matematics instruction. The subjects were the 1st graders of SLTP 12 Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan assigned to an experimental group and a control group. Data were gathered using test and documentary study, and were then analyzed by t-test. It could be concluded from data analyses that there was a difference in learning outcomes between students attending group learning and those not attending group learning.

Abstract

This study is aimed at examining the effectiveness of using professionals in giving career information to increase the high school students' career maturity level. The study was an experimental in nature using 60 samples. In the experimental group the career information was delivered by professionals who were successful in their careers, while in the control group the information was given through the packet book (conventional technique).The sampling technique used was the multi-stage random. The instrument employed was the Career Maturity Scale. The data analysis was done using statistical t-test. The result indicates that the career information delivered by professionals is more effective than given through packet book.

Abstract

 Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan dan menguji korelasi taraf penguasaan mahasiswa terhadap kelompok matakuliah manajemen, kepemimpinan, dan supervisi pendidikan dengan kemampuan magang. Populasi adalah mahasiswa Jurusan Administrasi Pendidikan sejak berdiri hingga sekarang. Sampel diambil secara purposif empat angkatan sejumlah 122 mahasiswa. Data dikumpulkan dengan studi dokumentasi. Analisis dilakukan dengan statistik rerata dan analisis regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa taraf penguasaan mahasiswa terhadap kelompok matakuliah manajemen, kepemimpinan, supervisi pendidikan, dan kemampuan magang adalah cukup. Terdapat hubungan antara taraf penguasaan terhadap kelompok matakuliah manajemen, kepemimpinan, dan supervisi pendidikan dengan kemampuan magang.

Abstract

This action research was designed to describe the management strategies implemented to accelerate the quality of elementary school. This three-year study applied a cycle model of Kemmis and McTaggart, and was held in SD Islam Sabilillah, Malang. The results revealed that the quality management consisted of establishing school vision, self assessment, identifying the need for development, formulating the goal of development, designing the development program, implementing the program, and evaluation. The strategic efforts in accelerating the quality were a quality-oriented program, independence of human-resource, participation of stakeholders, and transparency in financial management.

Abstract

This study was to investigate identification procedures and teacher competencies for teaching students with learning disabilities. The researcher reviewed professional literature and conducted a survey among volunteered students in two graduate classes. Literature review indicated that identification procedures promoted by professionals and governments had more similarities than differences. The models of the procedures clarified many aspects of the federal regulations and added much information on how to identify the students. Then the researcher developed and modified a model of identification procedures to meet the need of such procedures in Indonesian Elementary School. Survey indicated that the items of the survey represented the knowledge of teacher competencies and the results were modified into the same form for use in Indonesia.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of energetic games on the movement skills of mentally-retarded students. Employing a quasi-experimental design, this study involved 10 mentally-retarded students belonging to seven-year mental age. The data were collected using behavior test measuring movement skills, which were then analyzed using Mann Whitney U-test. The findings suggest that such games had positive effects on the improvement of the movement skills.

Abstract

Philosophical Perspective on Dialectics Paradigm in Education. Education, which aims at changing learners' behaviors, is now confirmed with dialectics paradigm. Behavioristic thesis states that the changing of the behaviors is determined by factors external to the learners through environment condusive for them to develop. The anti-thesis, which is of constructivism, believes that the changing is merely caused by the internal factors of the learners, mainly related to their cognitive competence. As each of the two paradigms bears its own strengths and weaknesses, a new synthesis in education is needed, and dialectics paradigm, which is inspired by philosophical dialectics, seems to be the alternative.

Abstract

Kerjasama adalah bentuk interaksi sosial yang di dalamnya sekelompok orang menyadari bahwa mereka memiliki kepentingan yang sama. Dalam organisasi, kerjasama dapat terlihat pada salah satu prinsip administrasi. Kerjasama ini dapat diterapkan dalam pengambilan keputusan, yaitu dalam merumuskan masalah, mengidentifikasi alternatif, menentukan kriteria, menguji alternatif, dan menetapkan keputusan. Dalam organisasi sekolah, kerjasama dalam pengambilan keputusan melibatkan kepala sekolah dan guru. Bentuk kerjasamanya dapat dibedakan menjadi dua, yaitu cara individual dan cara kelompok. Cara kelompok lebih banyak memiliki kelebihan daripada cara individual.
