Abstract

This study was intended to investigate the influence of sex education and assertion training toward teenagers’ attitude toward pre-marital sex. Pretest-posttest control groups weere employed. Subjects consisted of 32 teenagers who were divided into three groups. The first group consisting of 11 students were given sex education, the second group consisting of 11 students were given assertion training, and the last group, the control or waiting list group, consists of 10 people. Data were analysed using one way analysis of variance and this was supported with individual data analysis. The study found that there was highly significant influence of sex education toward teenagers’ attitude toward pre marital sex; and assertion training did not contribute to teenagers’ attitude toward pre marital sex although score of pre test and post test was different. This led to the conclusion that sex education was more influential than assertion training in influencing teenagers’ attitude toward pre-marital sex.

Abstract

The Effectiveness of Step Approach and Portfolio Assessment in Developing Writing Skills of Elementary School Children. The available effective learning models are expected to help teachers teach more creatively. This quasi-experimental study, conducted in SDN Percobaan and SDN Lowokwaru IV Malang, was intended to find out the effectiveness of step approach and portfilio assessment in developing writing skills of elementary school children. Hypothesis testing of differences between pretest and post-test scores was done to test differences within the groups and between the groups. The results indicated that step approach and portfolio assessment effectively helped develop children’s writing skills.

Abstract

Conflicts may occur among individuals, groups, and organiza-tions. From managerial point of view, the existence of conflicts may have influence on the individual performance. In an organization, there might be substantive and emotional conflicts. The quality of a leader may therefore be indicated by his or her ability in managing such conflicts in order to create a more condusive climate in the working environment. It is suggested that the leader employ an emotional intelligence approach.

Abstract

The Use of Multimethods and Bimethods in the Teaching-Learning Process of Kewiraan. The study was intended to find out the effectiveness of using multimethods in the teaching-learning process of Kewiraan. Additionally, it was aimed at examining the differences between using multimethods and bimethods in terms of learning achievement. Data were collected through a test and observation, which were then analyzed using means and t-test. The results showed that multimethods could increased students' achievement.

Abstract

Young children are natural scientists. They are curious, and interested in everything, always try to find out what will happen. As young scientists, young children use the processes of science and thing to make observation and inferences about they think in their world. They try to understand the nature of their world; they think and do at the same time. They classify and reach conclusions. They learn their world by playing. By the way, in early childhood education, the teacher must construct the environment, questioning and offer information, lead children to expand their scientific world into more conventional ways of thinking. The teacher and adult must help them to learn to know, to do, to be and to life together.

Abstract

Implementation of Instruction in Kewiraan Course According to the Students. The purpose of this research was to know the effectiveness of teaching-learning process in Kewiraan based on the students' perception. The study involved 47 students of the Department of Elementary School Teacher Education, State University of Surabaya. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed statistically by percentage and mean measures. The result showed that the quality of the teaching learning process was good enough. The mean score was 7.639, whereas the other components of the teaching-learning process range between fair (16 %) to good (84 %).

Abstract

Harapan dapat menjadi pendorong dan arah setiap kehidupan manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat harapan profesional akademik dosen PGSD sebelum dan sesudah menjadi dosen, serta seberapa besar perubahan tingkat harapan profesional akademik dosen PGSD sesudah menjadi dosen. Sampel adalah 76 orang dosen PGSD mantan guru SPG/SGO di Jawa Timur yang ditarik secara rambang proporsional. Analisis yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dan uji beda rerata dengan rumus uji t. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa tingkat harapan profesional akademik dosen PGSD secara keseluruhan sangat tinggi. Perubahan tingkat harapan setelah menjadi dosen adalah berarti.

Abstract

This study is an effort to understand the implementation of the PLS program and factors influencing the advantages and disadvantages in applying the program. The sample consisted of officials of the Department of Education and formal and informal leaders in South Kalimantan related to the compulsory education. Data were gathered by using questionnaire and interview, and documentary analysis. The results revealed that the implementation the out-of-school program faced some problems concerning with social and cultural background. The learners joined the program to get knowledge and expand their skills, while others were not interested in it and assumed that the program was non relevant to their daily needs.

Abstract

The Implementation of Dual System of Education: A Case Study at the Secondary School of Craft Industry Jepara. The study aims at exploring the characteristics of implementation of the dual system of education (PSG) at Secondary School of Craft Industry Jepara and at its counterpart institutions, and trying to find the constraints faced by the school and the counterpart institutions. The key persons of this qualitative case-study research were administrators and instructors of six small and medium scale industries. An in-depth interview, observation and documentation were used to collect data. Domain analysis was employed to analyze the data. Triangulation method was intended to obtain validity of the collected data. The findings indicate that the PSG was implemented as a field work ‘plus’, the majority of industry units involved were of small scale, the school council did not effectively mediate the school and the industry units, the PSG did not result in the expected added values yet, and there were many constraints faced by the school and the industry units in implementing the program.
