Abstract

This study was focused on the implementation of Achievement Grouping Class in Senior High Schools (SMUs). Data were collected from pupils, teachers and principals of six SMUs in Malang Municipality. Using qualitative analysis, the study found out that the Achievement Grouping Class seemed to be able to accelerate the pupils' learning achievement. The system was applied by placing the high-achievers in one or two class(es) separated from the others. The interpersonal relationship within the regular classes was better than within the achievement classes dominated by interpersonal competition.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan kemampuan mengajar mahasiswa strata satu (S1) IKIP Malang berdasarkan beberapa prediktor utama. Sampel penelitian diambil secara rambang proporsional. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan observasi, tes, angket, dan dokumen kemudian dianalisis dengan teknik persentase dan regresi ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan mengajar mahasiswa adalah baik atau mencapai 77,29 persen penguasaan maksimum. Pencapaian tingkat kemampuan mengajar mereka disumbang secara efektif oleh latihan keterampilan dasar mengajar, prestasi akademik, dan kecerdasan sebesar 74 persen.

Abstract

This study expost facto was intended to find effective ways of developing techers’ professionalism. Data were collected from eighty high school teachers in Ambon by using questionnaire, and analyzed by using descriptive statistics and product moment correlation. The result showed that principals’ ways of guiding teachers were sufficiently effective, but they could not be used to predict teachers’ professionalism. Principals were expected to continue creating conducive learning atmosphere for teachers and students.

Abstract

The concept of fraction in the 1994 curriculum begins to be introduced to the second and the third year students of elementary school. However, students often get difficulty understanding it. An informal interview with teachers of SDN Sentul VI Blitar indicates that students often misunderstand the concept of fraction. This action research was intended to correct students’ misunderstandings in comparing two fractions by way of interview, observation, and tests. The results show that introducing the concept of fraction by dividing things into two may result in different perception between teachers and students.

Abstract

This quasi experimental study is intended to examine the effectiveness of Spok Tuah Arahan Diri (STAD) in helping clients understand their personalities. A pretest and post test design was employed to 48 senior high school students. The results of t-test show that STAD effectively helped improve self understanding. It is then suggested that the STAD inventory be used in guidance and counselling programs at schools.

Abstract

Teachers' Competence in Early-Literacy Learning. The study aimed at describing objectively teachers' competence in developing early literacy at elementary schools. Descriptive-qualitative analysis was employed to analyze the data which had been collected from first-grade teachers of three elementary schools in Blitar using Teacher-Competence Evaluation Instrument, documentation study, and field notes. The results suggest that teachers' competence in early-literacy learning, which involves planning, implementing, and evaluating, has not yet met the requirements of the 1994 curriculum of elementary school.

Abstract

The study aims to evaluate the implementation of the local content subject, that is, Family Welfare Education, in two elementary school in Yogyakarta, focusing on the selection aspect, the program implementation, teacher's understanding, and factors affecting the program implementation. Utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation, the study reveals that the local content program was determinated by the school principals without considering teachers' view, student' interest, local needs, or parent' expectations. The Family Welfare Education was misunderstood as a subject equipping students with knowledge of handicrafts and household affairs.

Abstract

Salah satu tugas guru pendidikan jasmani adalah melatih anak untuk melakukan gerakan yang baik dan benar. Keterampilan motorik yang diajarkan harus sesuai dengan tingkat pertumbuhan, perkembangan motorik dan kebutuhan. Pelatih juga harus mempertimbangkan kemampuan anak menggunakan rasio karena belajar motorik merupakan suatu proses, bukan hasil. Penguasaan unsur-unsur internal suatu keterampilan, kemampuan mengorganisasikan dan tepat pewaktuannya saat melakukan gerakan adalah tolok ukur belajar motorik yang benar. Kemampuan mengorganisasikan berbagai respon motorik akan muncul tatkala anak mampu berpikir kapan harus bergerak dan kapan harus berhenti, dan tingkat perkembangan kesadaran tubuh terhadap ruang dan waktu telah tercapai.

Abstract

Correlation between Activities in Pengajian and Learning Guidance in a Religious School and Achievement in Schools. The study aimed to investigate the correlation between students' activities on pengajian and learning guidance in a religious school and learning achievement at their schools. The subjects were students in junior and senior high schools participating in religious schools. The data were collected through questionnaire, interview, and documentation. The result revealed that there was a positive correlation between students' activities in the religious school and their learning achievement in the school. The determinat factors were religious motivation and cooperative learning method applied in the religious school.

Abstract

 Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh model program pembelajaran bahasa anak tunarungu berdasarkan pendekatan komunikasi total yang dapat dilaksanakan oleh guru SLB bagian B secara efektif. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini bersifat pengembangan. Sekolah latihan yang menjadi ajang ujicoba pengembangan adalah SLB Bagian B Try Out Pembakuan Isyarat Indonesia sebagai salah satu komponen komunikasi total. Hasilnya menunjukkan temuan bahwa model hipotetis yang dikembangkan ternyata cukup efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas kinerja guru dan siswa sekolah tunarungu dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa.
