Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi partisipasi masyarakat perkampungan kumuh dalam program pembangunan. Ada 17 variabel prediktor dan empat parameter program pembangunan. Data dikumpulkan dengan wawancara bebas terpimpin dan dokumentasi kepada 300 kepala keluarga dengan teknik quota purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ke-17 variabel prediktor terbukti berpengaruh terhadap partisipasi masyarakat perkampungan kumuh. Pengaruh ke-17 variabel itu dapat diklasifikasikan menjadi tiga, yaitu mendukung, menghambat dan nihil.

Abstract

Effectiveness of the Abacus Use in Mathematics Instruction at the Elementary School. This classroom action research was designed to examine the effectiveness of using abacus usage to improve students comprehension on addition and subtraction in story problems. The study involved 1 teacher and 32 students of the Elementary-Laboratory School (SD Laboratorium), State University of Malang. The results showed that the abacus use could improve the students comprehension in learning addition and subtraction stated in story problems. The students mean score was increased from 59.30 in 1st cycle to 78.13 in 2nd cycle.

Abstract

This study is intended to examine the relationship between the two variables of campus environment and classroom interaction and learning attention. Seventy college students were randomly selected, and questionnaires were distributed to them. Correlational analyses as well as bivariate and multiple regression reveal that the level of learning attention improved as the quality of environment and interaction improved. Environment, classroom interaction, or both these two variables contribute significantly to learning attention by 22.1%, 18.9%, and 29.4% respectively.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan wujud penerapan pendekatan komunikatif dalam pengajaran bahasa Indonesia. Data dikumpulkan dengan lembar penilaian satuan pelajaran dan wawancara. Sampel adalah guru bahasa Indonesia di kelas V SD Kecamatan Klojen Malang yang diambil secara rambang purposif. Analisis dilakukan dengan kriteria yang merupakan cermin wujud penerapan pendekatan komunikatif dalam lima komponen rencana sajian pelajaran. Diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penerapan pendekatan komunikatif dalam pengajaran bahasa Indonesia di kelas V SD Negeri Kecamatan Klojen Malang secara keseluruhan berkualitas kurang.

Abstract

This study was designed to improve students' ability in completing the test refering to the linear program. It focused on the implementation of the Program Action Method (PAM). Applying an action research design, the study involved the third-grader of SMUN I Bolaang, North Sulawesi. The results showed that this implementation of Program Action Method (PAM) managed to improve the students' ability in doing the tests.

Abstract

Gender and School Management: An Analysis of the System of Managerial Positions. It has been necessary to study gender issues continously since women dominated schools as teachers, especially in terms of their promotion for managerial positions. The main problem of women’s promotion is on the term gender itself, which is a stereotype resulted from a ‘masculine’ culture. Men and women are then perceived differently in their managerial positions: women face more obstacles than men. Some models which can be used to explain the obstacles are women position, discrepancy, and meritocracy models, in addition to the organization structure and the psychological view. In a study, the obstacles would not be apparent unless qualitative paradigm with micro-subjective scope were utilized. Therefore, employing a case study method for investigation would make it possible to reveal the obstacles faced by women more comprehensively.

Abstract

This is a study on the correlation between the four variables of cognitive styles, learning habits, achievement motivation, and locus of control and students’ achievement in mathematics, physics, Indonesian, English, economics, and geography. The data were collected through tests and documentation. The results indicated that there were positive correlations between cognitive styles, learning habits, achievement motivation, and locus of control and the students’ achievement. There were also significant correlations among these predictor variables: (1) between cognitive styles and learning habits and (2) between achievement motivation and locus of control. The path analysis indicated that the four predictable variables had effects on the students’ achievement.

Abstract

The study was aimed at exploring problems faced by undergraduate students in their study. Sixty five students of Nonformal Education Department of IKIP Malang were purposively selected. A closed questionnaire was used to collect the data, which were then analyzed using Q-short technique and Spearman’s rank order correlation. The findings suggest that there were a number of problems faced by the students in their study, for instance, understanding textbooks written in English, writing papers, writing up reports of practice teaching and field study, conducting effective group discussion, and problems related to social relationships/love, health, and conditions of places where they lived. There was a positive relationship of problem type between male and female students.

Abstract

Pendidikan Tinggi (PT) sangat vital bagi masyarakat Amerika yang telah mempraktikkan demokrasi. PT dianggap bukan milik perorangan, melainkan aset dan kebanggaan bersama. Agar perguruan tinggi dapat berperan banyak dalam menghadapi tantangan jaman dan kemajuan teknologi, segenap kekuatan yang ada merasa bertanggung jawab dalam membentuk PT sebagai suatu komunitas. PT yang berhasil harus dibangun atas dasar komitmen yang tinggi terhadap suatu proses, bukan kepada ambisi birokratis dan individual. Hal ini diakui telah melahirkan ciri tersendiri dalam sistem pengelolaannya, yang berbeda dengan yang terjadi di negara lain.

Abstract

Menghadapi perubahan yang sulit diramalkan pada abad ke-21, negara-negara maju sudah mulai dengan perubahan-perubahan mendasar dalam pendidikannya. Perubahan tidak lagi bersifat reformasi yang lebih sesuai dengan perubahan gelombang pertama dan kedua, tetapi juga restrukturisasi yang pantas bagi perubahan gelombang ketiga. Aspek restrukturisasi yang telah dijalankan melibatkan penjaringan dana, internasionalisme, pendidikan untuk semua, individualisasi pendidikan, pendidikan untuk menciptakan pengetahuan, desentralisasi, dan memanfaatkan teknologi pendidikan dan menekan jumlah guru. Restrukturisasi bukan hal yang mudah dilaksanakan dengan dana terbatas. Namun era pasar bebas tetap menghendaki perubahan dalam praktik pendidikan. Pengerahan dana dari swasta tidak dapat dihindari.
