Abstract

Abstract

In response to the fundamentalist ideologies that often display the slogan of Islam kaffah, it is very important to revisit the concept of Islam kaffah in the interpretation of the Qur'an. This article aims to provide a scientific response through an authoritative traditional interpretation study, namely the book Mafatih al-Ghaib by Fakhruddin al-Razi. The method used in this research is literature study, where the theme of 'Islam kaffah' is examined through the perspective of al-Razi's interpretation. The results of this study conclude that Islam kaffah is not merely about carrying out all aspects of religious teachings, but also about efforts to continuously improve the quality of faith and religious practice. The subsequent conclusion explains that the interpretation of Islam kaffah is not singular and is not intended solely for the welfare of Muslims, but also for the welfare of all humanity regardless of their religious background.

Abstract

During the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic) period, women often experienced injustice regarding divorce and the waiting period following separation from their husbands. With the advent of Islam, clearer and more equitable regulations concerning iddah (the waiting period after divorce or widowhood) were established. Therefore, analyzing Qur'anic verses related to iddah through a historical approach is essential to understand how the Qur'an brought about social reform in the practices of that era. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. The data were collected from various literary sources, including Qur'anic exegeses (tafsir), Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) books, and scholarly studies relevant to the research topic. The analysis was conducted using a historical approach to understand the context in which the verses concerning iddah were revealed. The findings indicate that the regulations governing the iddah period were part of the social reforms introduced by Islam in response to pre-Islamic Arab customs that often disadvantaged women. The establishment of clear rules regarding iddah demonstrates Islam's commitment to protecting women's rights while also preserving the clarity of lineage within society.

Abstract

This article explores the epistemological position of Hadith within the framework of Comparative Studies of Religions, by analyzing its authority, verification methods, and axiological relevance for peace. In classical Islamic science, Hadith occupies the position of the second authoritative source after the Qur'an, whose function goes beyond mere legal sources (tasyri') to include the foundations of ethics and theological narratives. Using a descriptive-comparative method, this study dissects the unique authentication system of Hadith through isnad (narration chains) and compares it with the methodology of verifying sacred texts in other religious traditions, namely the Historical-Critical method in Biblical studies, the Śruti-Smṛti framework in Hinduism, and the Mahapadesa principle in Buddhism. The analysis shows that despite fundamental methodological differences, all traditions have a common concern for preserving transcendental messages through humane transmission, relying on authoritative communities as guardians. Furthermore, this study highlights the significant axiological potential of the Hadith, by showing how the values of tolerance (ta'aruf), empathy, and proactive peace (sulh) inherent in it provide crucial theological resources for interreligious dialogue and conflict resolution in pluralistic societies. This study concludes that an integrative approach that combines classical epistemology, comparative insight, and peace-oriented hermeneutics, is essential for contemporary Hadith studies to contribute effectively to the global discourse on harmony and coexistence.

Abstract

The spread of hadith content through memes on Instagram is growing rapidly and reaching millions of Indonesian Muslim users, yet it lacks adequate scientific verification mechanisms. Memes with the hashtag #hadisnikah, which contain hadiths about marriage and women, have the potential to shape public religious understanding on a massive scale without accountability. This study aims to identify patterns of understanding of hadiths about marriage in digital memes with the hashtag #hadisnikah and their implications, and to evaluate the potential of hadith memes about marriage as marriage counseling materials for religious counselors at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical content analysis method. Primary data were obtained through systematic documentation of accounts posting hadith memes on Instagram with the hashtag #hadisnikah, which were analyzed through a meta-analysis and evaluation of counseling potential. The results show that the pattern of hadith understanding that is formed tends to be textually literalist with narrative imbalances that emphasize women's obligations disproportionately compared to their rights, thus constructing an unequal gender representation. Another finding found that memes have great potential as a medium for marriage counseling if they are selected critically, integrated into Suscatin sessions, and supported by the production of officially verified hadith memes by the Ministry of Religion.

Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the concept of rational autonomy and moral norms in the thought of Ibn Rushd as an effort to reconstruct a more rational and contextual Islamic ethics. The background of this research lies in the persistent dichotomy between reason and revelation in understanding Islamic ethics, which often results in partial and less adaptive approaches to contemporary moral challenges. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of rational autonomy in shaping moral norms and its relevance to the development of modern Islamic ethics. This research employs a qualitative approach with a library research method, using descriptive-analytical techniques through philosophical and historical perspectives. The findings reveal that Ibn Rushd positions reason as an epistemological instrument with legitimate authority to understand revelation and to determine moral values rationally. Rational autonomy, in his view, is not absolute but operates within the framework of Islamic law, allowing contextual interpretation of religious texts. Moral norms are therefore not merely normative but also possess rational and teleological dimensions oriented toward public welfare (maslahah). The study concludes that the integration of reason and revelation in Ibn Rushd’s thought provides a foundational framework for reconstructing Islamic ethics that is more adaptive, inclusive, and relevant to contemporary moral issues. Keywords: rational autonomy; moral norms; Islamic ethics; Ibn Rushd; ethical reconstruction

Abstract

This study discusses the epistemology of Sayyid Sabiq's hadiths in Fiqh al-Sunnah, which attempts to reconcile the authority of hadiths with the need for the modernization of Islamic law. The study is motivated by criticism of Sayyid Sabiq's hadith methodology, which is considered more practical and moderate but less rigorous in terms of sanad and hadith authentication. The study aims to analyze the epistemological characteristics of Sayyid Sabiq's hadiths, the methods of using hadiths in Fiqh al-Sunnah, and their relevance to contemporary Islamic studies. This study is a library research study with an epistemological and historical approach. Data obtained from Sayyid Sabiq's primary works and relevant contemporary hadith and fiqh literature. The results of the study show that the epistemology of the hadith of Sayyid Sabiq is practical, moderate, non-school, and contextual with an orientation towards the principle of taysīr and the welfare of the community. Despite criticism regarding the sanad, Sayyid Sabiq's ideas have made a significant contribution to the modernization of fiqh and the promotion of religious moderation in contemporary Islamic studies.

Abstract

This article discusses the methods and principles of Tafsir al-Maraghi. The method employed in this article is library research. The findings of this study indicate that, methodologically, Tafsir al-Maraghi utilises the tahlili (analytical) method, which involves explaining the content of the Qur’anic verses in detail based on the order of the mushaf. As for the style or principles of interpretation used, these are adabi al-ijtima'iy (sociocultural and literary). Through this approach, al-Maraghi highlights the literary value and linguistic beauty (balaghah) of the Qur’an, whilst simultaneously using these verses as the primary instrument for addressing and resolving social issues. To further assist the reader, the structure of this exegesis is systematically organised, presenting groups of verses, explaining difficult vocabulary (syarh al-mufradat), providing an overall meaning, detailing the asbab al-nuzul, and minimising the use of complex grammatical and scientific terms.
