Abstract

This study aims to find out the role of the El-Diina Sukabumi Play Group (KB) in improving the quality of early childhood education. The background of this research is based on the importance of early childhood education institutions as the main foundation in shaping children's character and basic abilities, especially in the midst of increasing demands on the quality of national education. Quality early childhood education is one of the important factors in supporting children's optimal growth and development from an early age, both from cognitive and emotional aspects. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation as the main methods in data collection. The research subjects included school principals, teachers, and parents of students at KB El-Diina Sukabumi who were selected purposively in accordance with the research objectives. The results of the study show that KB El-Diina has implemented various strategies in improving the quality of educational services, including the implementation of a character-based curriculum, regular teacher training, active involvement of parents in the learning process, and the creation of a safe, comfortable, and fun learning environment for children. In addition, the use of learning methods that are in accordance with the child's developmental stage is also one of the success factors of the institution in improving the quality of education. The findings show that these efforts have a positive impact on children's cognitive, social, emotional, and motor development. Children look more confident, independent, and active in daily learning activities in the classroom and outdoors. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of professional, sustainable, and adaptive management of family planning institutions to the needs of children's development. This is the foundation for creating quality, relevant, and holistic child development early childhood education services.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low speaking ability of children in group A of RA Tarbiyatul Khoiriyah. This problem is caused by the lack of varied learning methods and the use of learning media that have not been able to optimally attract children's attention and interest. In fact, speaking ability is an important aspect in early childhood language development, which plays a role in communication and further learning processes. Therefore, an innovative and interesting approach is needed to encourage children's speaking skills. This research aims to develop children's speaking ability through storytelling activities using Paflaber (Pictured Flannel Board) as an interactive visual aid. This research uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach model Kemmis and Taggart, which is implemented in three cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects in this study were 20 children aged 4–5 years, consisting of 10 boys and 10 girls. The instruments used in the research included open modules, child performance assessment sheets, as well as observation notes and activity documentation. The results showed a significant increase in children's speaking ability in each cycle. Learning completion increased from 30% in the pre-action phase to 40% in cycle I, 60% in cycle II, and 85% in cycle III. The implications of this research result indicate that Paflaber media is very effective in improving the speaking skills of early childhood children. This media not only helps children understand the content of the story through visualization but also stimulates active involvement and verbal interaction. Therefore, Paflaber media is recommended as one of the creative learning strategies that can be implemented by early childhood teachers to develop children's language skills in a fun and meaningful way.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the pedagogical competence of teachers in conducting assessments of early childhood at KB Teratai. Pedagogical competence refers to the teacher’s ability to manage children's learning, including planning, implementing, and evaluating assessments of student development. Assessment in early childhood requires a deep understanding of children’s developmental characteristics as well as the use of appropriate assessment methods such as observation, documentation, and portfolios. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that teachers at KB Teratai possess a basic understanding of the principles and techniques of developmental assessment; however, several obstacles remain in its implementation, such as limited time, supporting facilities, and the need for further training. These findings highlight the importance of continuous improvement of teachers’ pedagogical competence to support the quality of early childhood development assessments. Based on the results of this study, pedagogical competence is essential for teachers and can be observed through their ability to use educational play tools as a medium in the learning process.

Abstract

Based on the results of initial interviews and observations, it was found that several students still experienced difficulties in writing procedural texts effectively. These difficulties included a lack of understanding of the structure and characteristics of procedural texts, challenges in expressing ideas in written form, limited ability to compose coherent and communicative sentences, and the use of monotonous learning models that failed to stimulate student motivation. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model based on the Tri N approach (Niteni, Niroke, and Nambahake) to improve the procedural text writing skills of fourth-grade students at Sidomukti Elementary School, Ambal Sub-district, Kebumen Regency, as well as to identify the improvement in writing skills after its application. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, tests, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the application of the PjBL model integrated with Tri N values significantly improved students’ ability to write procedural texts. The learning process was carried out through six main stages of PjBL: formulating essential questions, planning projects, creating schedules, monitoring student activities, testing results, and evaluating learning experiences. The integration with Tri N principles encouraged students to understand, imitate, and develop their writing skills gradually. Thus, the PjBL model based on Tri N proved effective in helping students overcome writing difficulties while also fostering creativity, independence, and active participation in the learning process.

Abstract

This study explores teachers’ perceptions of the importance of the Indonesian language in developing communication skills among early childhood learners. As a national language and medium of unity, Indonesian plays a strategic role in children’s linguistic and social growth. The research applied a qualitative descriptive design, using interviews, observations, and documentation with teachers at TK Ar-Raudah in Banjar Regency. Findings reveal that teachers perceive Indonesian as a crucial foundation for enhancing children’s speaking, comprehension, and expressive abilities. The language also supports children’s confidence and social interaction in learning contexts. However, challenges remain, such as the dominance of regional languages and limited teaching resources. Teachers employ strategies combining local and Indonesian languages to build comprehension and comfort. The study concludes that systematic use of Indonesian from early childhood fosters better communication competence and strengthens national identity. Enhancing teacher training and parental involvement is recommended to optimize Indonesian language development in early childhood education.

Abstract

Deviant behavior in early childhood is an issue that needs serious attention, especially when children start to show the habit of using harsh language while interacting with peers. This phenomenon was found at TK Unggulan An Nur Surabaya, where some children tend to use impolite words during play and communication. The aim of this study is to identify the causal factors behind deviant behavior in early childhood, specifically rude speech, and to analyze the influence of family environment, school, peers, and media on such behavior. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews with teachers and parents, and documentation from classroom activities. The findings revealed that rude speaking behavior is influenced by permissive parenting, peer group influence, exposure to inappropriate media, and immature emotional regulation. The conclusion is that deviant behavior such as harsh speaking does not arise in isolation but is the result of complex interactions between internal and external factors. Therefore, collaboration between teachers and parents in character education and monitoring of media exposure and peer environment is essential.
