Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of picture guessing games on early childhood language skills at PAUD ANNISA. This research used a quantitative approach with an experimental method involving one group through pretest and posttest activities. The research subjects consisted of 27 children in group B. Data collection techniques used observation, tests, and documentation. The research instrument was an observation sheet covering children’s language abilities, including listening skills, speaking skills, vocabulary mastery, and answering simple questions. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that the picture guessing game had a positive effect on improving early childhood language skills. This can be seen from the average pretest score of 62, which increased to 85 in the posttest after the treatment was given. In addition, the number of children in the very good category increased from 3 children to 15 children, while the undeveloped category decreased from 7 children to 0 children. The picture guessing game helped children improve their speaking skills, vocabulary mastery, listening skills, and confidence in communicating with teachers and peers. This game also created a fun learning atmosphere so that children became more active and enthusiastic during the learning process. Therefore, it can be concluded that the picture guessing game has a positive effect on the language skills of early childhood children at PAUD ANNISA.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using an educational Snakes and Ladders game on early childhood learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The participants were children aged 5–6 years (Group B) enrolled in an Early Childhood Education (ECE) institution. Data were collected through observation and documentation, while the research instrument consisted of an observation sheet developed based on child development indicators. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and inferential tests, namely the Paired Sample t-Test or Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, depending on the data distribution. The findings indicate that the use of the educational snakes and ladders game has a positive effect on children's learning outcomes. The improvement in learning outcomes was reflected in the differences between pretest and posttest scores, demonstrating that the game-based learning media enhanced children's engagement, motivation, and understanding of learning materials. In addition to supporting cognitive development, the educational snakes and ladders game also contributed to the development of children's social, emotional, and motor skills through play-based learning activities. Therefore, the educational snakes and ladders game can be considered an effective learning medium for improving early childhood learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of creativity among early childhood children at RA Al-Ma’arif, Gorontalo City, as indicated by children’s limited ability to express ideas, create varied forms, and develop imaginative works independently. This study aimed to determine the effect of loose parts play on early childhood creativity. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 12 children, divided into an experimental group of 6 children and a control group of 6 children. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation using a validated creativity assessment instrument. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and non-parametric inferential analysis with the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that children’s creativity in the experimental group increased after participating in loose parts play activities, as indicated by a higher posttest mean score compared to the pretest score. Statistical testing also demonstrated a significant effect of loose parts play on children’s creativity. Children became more capable of generating ideas, combining materials, and producing varied and original creations. It can be concluded that loose parts play is effective in improving early childhood creativity and can be used as an innovative and meaningful learning medium in early childhood education.
