Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the clinical competency achievement of midwifery students based on Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) results from 2023 to 2026, identify competency areas with the highest and lowest achievement, and examine differences in OSCE performance across the four-year period. A quantitative retrospective evaluative design was employed using secondary OSCE data from 95 Diploma III Midwifery students. Competency was assessed across six clinical stations comprising 125 checklist items. Station scores were converted to a 0–4 scale, with a competency threshold of ≥3.00. Data were analyzed descriptively and differences across years were examined using One-Way ANOVA, Kruskal–Wallis, and Tukey post-hoc tests. The overall mean OSCE score was 3.07 ± 0.51, with 56.8% of students achieving the competency standard. Family Planning had the highest mean score (3.23 ± 0.56), whereas Emergency Childbirth had the lowest (2.83 ± 0.67). Mean OSCE scores increased from 2.79 in 2023 to 3.37 in 2026. Significant differences were found across years (F = 6.523; p < 0.001), particularly between 2023 and each subsequent year. Clinical competency achievement showed an improving pattern across the study period, although competency remained uneven across clinical domains. Emergency childbirth requires particular attention through strengthened simulation, repeated practice, structured feedback, and remediation. Longitudinal OSCE data can support continuous evaluation of clinical learning and competency development.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore the representation of women and locality in the films of Kamila Andini. By specifically focusing on The Mirror Never Lies (Laut Bercermin) and Before, Now & Then (Nana), the research examines how female narratives are strongly portrayed within distinct Indonesian cultural settings. Furthermore, this study delves into four main analytical dimensions: women as subjects of inner experience, locality as a space of cultural meaning, the female body as a social sign, and cultural symbols as sites of resistance. Method: To analyze the film texts, this research applies Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach. The analysis systematically utilizes his three-tiered model of meaning—denotative, connotative, and mythological—to decode the layered visual and narrative representations present in both selected works. Results : The findings reveal that women in both films are depicted as active agents of emotional and cultural introspection who employ silence and subtle gestures as nuanced forms of resistance against patriarchal norms. Additionally, locality functions not merely as a passive backdrop, but as a dynamic symbolic space that actively shapes the social construction of gender and identity. Moreover, cultural symbols such as traditional clothing, domestic spaces, and natural landscapes construct a prevailing myth of women as custodians of tradition, while simultaneously creating space for subversive reinterpretations of these established cultural roles. Conclusion: In conclusion, this research significantly contributes to the broader academic discourse on Indonesian cinema. By integrating semiotic analysis, the study offers a critical, gendered, and ideological reading of local narratives embedded within contemporary film works.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of the Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intellectual (SAVI) learning model assisted by Vianicah media on the mathematical problem-solving ability of fourth-grade students at SDIT Manba’ul Ulum Mayong. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a nonequivalent control group design. The participants consisted of 37 students, including 20 students in the experimental group and 17 students in the control group. Data were collected through mathematical problem-solving tests, questionnaires, observations, and documentation. Data analysis included normality and homogeneity tests, an independent samples t-test, and simple linear regression. The experimental group obtained a higher mean posttest score (51.10) than the control group (48.41). Questionnaire results also showed a higher percentage in the experimental group (78.51%) than in the control group (72.83%). However, the independent samples t-test indicated no significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.435). Simple linear regression also showed no significant effect of the SAVI model assisted by Vianicah media on mathematical problem-solving ability (p = 0.633), with an R² of 0.013. The SAVI learning model assisted by Vianicah media showed a tendency toward better mathematical problem-solving outcomes in the experimental group, but its effect was not statistically significant. Further studies with larger samples, longer interventions, and better control of students’ initial abilities are recommended.

Abstract

This study investigates the potential of the Tasbih method to improve Quranic literacy among senior high school students in Indonesia, focusing on students’ abilities in Quranic reading, writing, and memorization. The study addressed the research question of whether the implementation of the Tasbih method produces measurable gains in students’ Quranic literacy and how students respond to its use in learning. A quantitative pre-experimental study employing a one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted with 35 students at SMA Negeri 2 Palopo, Indonesia. Data were collected through Quranic literacy tests administered before and after the intervention and a student response questionnaire, while descriptive statistics, paired-samples t-test, and N-Gain analysis were used to examine changes in literacy performance. The findings revealed an increase in mean Quranic literacy scores from 33.49 on the pretest to 54.17 on the posttest, with the paired-samples t-test indicating a statistically significant difference (p = 0.000). The mean N-Gain score was 0.4433, representing a moderate level of improvement, while students’ overall response to the method was very positive (mean = 4.58). These findings suggest that the Tasbih method offers a promising instructional approach for strengthening Quranic literacy and creating a learning experience that students perceive as accessible and engaging, while providing practical implications for Quranic literacy instruction in Indonesian secondary schools.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between Islamic educational values and character formation among Generation Z in Indonesia, with particular attention to the implementation of Islamic moral values in formal educational settings. It addresses two questions: what findings have been reported in previous studies concerning the implementation of Islamic educational values in Generation Z character formation, and what patterns of implementation emerge from their synthesis? A systematic literature review was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 framework. Literature was searched through Google Scholar, with studies published between 2021 and 2026 and indexed in Sinta 1–4 considered for inclusion. Following identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and selection, five studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using descriptive mapping and narrative synthesis. The findings show that all five studies addressed moral conduct toward others, four examined moral conduct toward oneself, and only one addressed the family context. Four dominant implementation patterns emerged: teacher exemplary conduct, religious habituation, advice, and educational reward and punishment, with teacher exemplary conduct most consistently identified as effective. These findings suggest that Islamic moral education provides a coherent framework for character formation, while future practice should strengthen teacher modeling, positive habituation, and family involvement.

Abstract

Students’ mathematics achievement is shaped by a combination of internal and external factors, with family support potentially playing an important role in boarding school contexts. This study investigates the factors associated with mathematics achievement among Grade VIII students and addresses the question of whether internal and external factors, particularly family-related factors, are associated with differences in achievement. A quantitative survey design was employed with 48 Grade VIII students from Muhammadiyah Boarding School Palopo, Indonesia, comprising 24 students from Grade VIII A and 24 from Grade VIII B. Data were collected through a validated and reliable questionnaire measuring internal and external factors and students’ mathematics achievement, and were analyzed using ordinal logistic regression. The results indicate that no individual factor reached statistical significance at the 5% level. Nevertheless, parental upbringing and parental support demonstrated the strongest potential associations with mathematics achievement, with significance values of 0.072 and 0.108, respectively. The model explained 22.5% of the variation in students’ mathematics achievement, while 77.5% was attributable to factors outside the model. These findings suggest that family support may be more relevant than school-related factors in understanding mathematics achievement, highlighting the importance of strengthening parental engagement and home-based learning support while encouraging further research into the other factors that explain students’ achievement.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between speaking anxiety and English speaking ability among students at an Islamic vocational high school in South Sumatra, Indonesia. A quantitative correlational design was employed involving 100 students. Data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The results showed that the students had a relatively high level of speaking anxiety (M = 38.49, SD = 4.63), while their English speaking ability was at a moderate level (M = 36.02, SD = 2.63). The correlation analysis revealed a very weak negative and statistically nonsignificant relationship between speaking anxiety and English speaking ability (r = −0.043, p = 0.670). The findings indicate that speaking anxiety was not significantly associated with the students’ English speaking ability. Their speaking ability may therefore be influenced by other factors, including instructional practices, motivation, learning context, and environmental support.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education requires innovative and adaptable learning media. Canva has become widely used in digital learning, yet its research development and thematic patterns have not been comprehensively mapped. This study aims to identify publication trends, dominant themes, research trajectories, methodological patterns, and research gaps in the use of Canva as a digital learning medium. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed by combining a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and bibliometric analysis. Data consisted of 62 Scopus-indexed articles published between 2016 and 2026. Articles were identified and screened using predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using publication trends, keyword co-occurrence, thematic clusters, and methodological distributions with VOSviewer and Biblioshiny. The findings indicate a substantial increase in Canva-related publications, particularly in recent years. Research is predominantly focused on experimental, survey, and research-and-development approaches, with learning outcomes, digital learning media, and technology-supported instruction as major themes. Keyword analysis reveals several interconnected research clusters. However, bibliometric studies and systematic reviews remain limited. A significant research gap concerns the integration of Canva with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, and adaptive learning. Canva research has developed rapidly but remains concentrated on conventional applications. Future studies should integrate Canva with emerging technologies and innovative pedagogical approaches to support adaptive, interactive, creative, and immersive digital learning.

Abstract

This study investigates teacher role modeling as an educational approach for strengthening character and discipline among students in an Islamic boarding school. It addresses the research question of how teacher role modeling is implemented and contributes to addressing students’ behavioral and academic problems in Islamic religious education at Muhammadiyah Boarding School (MBS) Palopo, Indonesia. A qualitative descriptive design was employed involving seven informants, with data collected through observation, open-ended interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that teacher role modeling functions as a core method in student development, with teachers and boarding-school supervisors serving as role models through direct daily practices and indirect examples drawn from exemplary Islamic figures. The approach addresses discipline-related and academic problems, including delayed prayer, late Qur’anic study, difficulties in memorization, lack of learning focus, and failure to complete assignments. However, more serious violations, such as smoking and bringing mobile phones, require supporting strategies involving advice, institutional procedures, sanctions, and parental involvement. The findings suggest that teacher role modeling should be positioned as the foundation of character and discipline formation, while complementary interventions provide an integrated framework for addressing diverse student problems in Islamic boarding-school education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of parental education level, learning facilities, learning styles, self-efficacy, and students' perceptions of teachers' social competence on the Economics learning outcomes of Grade XI students at SMAN 2 Lembang Jaya, both partially and simultaneously. The study employs an associative quantitative approach with a population of 202 students and a sample of 133 students selected via proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation, then analyzed using multiple linear regression with the aid of SPSS. The results indicate that parental education level, learning facilities, and students' perceptions of teachers' social competence have a positive and significant influence on Economics learning outcomes. Meanwhile, learning styles and self-efficacy have a significant influence in a negative direction. Simultaneously, the five variables significantly influence Economics learning outcomes, contributing 50.7%, while 49.3% is attributed to factors outside the scope of this study. Improving learning facilities and teachers' social competence, along with fostering parental support and paying attention to students' learning styles and self-efficacy, are necessary to enhance student learning outcomes.
