Abstract

Physical activity is a key determinant of physical fitness and plays an essential role in supporting health and functional capacity among adolescents. This study aimed to examine the relationship between physical activity levels and physical fitness among students of Junior High School 2 Ciwidey. A quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 90 eighth-grade students selected using cluster sampling. Physical activity levels were measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire–Short Form (IPAQ-SF), while physical fitness was assessed through the Multistage Fitness Test (MFT) to estimate maximal oxygen uptake (VO₂max). Descriptive analysis was used to describe physical activity and fitness profiles, while the Spearman rank correlation test was applied due to non-normal data distribution. The results showed that most students were categorized as having moderate physical activity levels (52%), followed by low (33%) and high (11%) activity levels. Physical fitness assessment revealed that male students generally demonstrated higher VO₂max levels compared to female students, who were predominantly classified in the very low and low categories. Correlation analysis indicated a significant positive relationship between physical activity and physical fitness (r = 0.217; p = 0.040), although the strength of the relationship was weak. These findings suggest that higher physical activity levels are associated with better cardiorespiratory fitness among junior high school students. Therefore, efforts to increase the frequency and intensity of physical activity through school-based programs and supportive environments are necessary to improve students’ physical fitness and overall health.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of post-exercise sports massage in accelerating Countermovement Jump (CMJ) performance recovery in U17 football athletes at the Thirteens Football Academy. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. Thirty U17 football athletes participated in the study and received a post-exercise sports massage intervention lasting 15–20 minutes using effleurage and petrissage techniques. CMJ performance was measured before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired samples t-test. The results showed an increase in the mean CMJ score from 44.67 before treatment to 50.83 after treatment, with a mean difference of –6.167. The paired samples t-test revealed a significant difference between pre- and post-treatment scores (t = –5.651; p < 0.05), indicating that sports massage had a significant effect on improving CMJ performance recovery. These findings suggest that post-exercise sports massage is an effective recovery method to enhance lower limb explosive power in young football athletes and may be considered as part of structured recovery programs in football academies.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between coach-athlete relationships and achievement motivation in football players. This research is based on the significance of quality interaction between coaches and athletes as a psychological element that influences motivation, satisfaction in training, and athletic performance. This study applied a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational design, involving 40 football athletes from the Indonesian University of Education's Student Activity Unit Football. The measurement tools used include the Coach-Athlete Relationship Questionnaire (CART-Q) to assess commitment, closeness, and complementarity, as well as the Sport Motivation Scale II (SMS-II) to measure six aspects of motivation. Findings from descriptive analysis indicate that the level of coach-athlete relationships is high and consistent across all dimensions of CART-Q. Motivation evaluation shows the dominance of autonomous motivation, reflected in high scores on intrinsic motivation, integrated regulation, and identified regulation, with low levels of amotivation. Pearson's correlation test revealed a positive and significant relationship between coach-athlete relationships and achievement motivation (r = 0.438; p < 0.01). These findings imply that the better the quality of the relationship formed between coaches and athletes, the greater the athletes' motivation to achieve. This study confirms that a high-quality coach-athlete relationship serves as a crucial factor in building achievement motivation, so coaches are expected to improve communication, trust, and emotional support during the coaching process.

Abstract

Volleyball is a form of physical activity that can be utilized in physical education learning to develop students' basic motor skills, such as smash or passing abilities. The study aims to examine the effect of hanging ball learning on smash abilities in volleyball learning for ninth grade students of MTs Hidayatul Islam Tanjungharjo. The research problem begins with the low ability of students to smash accurately. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 30 students selected using a simple random sampling technique. The research instrument was a test of smash ability to the target. The treatment was carried out for 4 meetings through hanging ball learning that trains leg muscle strength, improves shot accuracy, and hits with the highest range. The results of the analysis showed an increase in the average shooting score from 5.73 in the pretest to 12.50 in the posttest. The normality test showed that the data was normally distributed, while the results of the t-test (Paired Sample T-Test) obtained a Sig. (2-tailed) value <0.05, which means there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. The findings indicate that hanging ball training is effective in improving smashing ability. Therefore, physical education teachers are advised to utilize hanging ball training as an engaging learning alternative that improves motor skills and fosters character values.

Abstract

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is currently one of the training methods that are widely applied to improve athletic performance in various sports. This method emphasizes a combination of high-intensity physical activity performed in a short duration and interspersed with relatively short rest periods. In the context of traditional martial arts, especially pencak silat, athletes are required to have a high level of muscle strength, cardiovascular stamina, speed, and agility to support the effectiveness of attack and defense techniques during the match. Therefore, the application of the right training method is an important factor in supporting the achievements of pencak silat athletes. This research paper aims to examine the impact of the application of HIIT on improving the physical performance of pencak silat athletes. The research method used is a literature review by analyzing a number of relevant national and international journals published in the range of 2019–2025. Data were obtained from scientific articles that had been indexed by SINTA and Scopus, then analyzed qualitatively descriptively based on the research theme, findings, and theoretical implications reported. The results of the study show that HIIT has a significant influence on increasing cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, and agility, which are the main components of physical condition in pencak silat. With its efficient characteristics in terms of time and intensity, HIIT has the potential to be an effective and applicable alternative training program for pencak silat athletes in an effort to improve overall physical performance.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine which training had a greater effect on the accuracy of forehand drive shots in Anjam Slawi Club athletes, whether multiball training or pair training. The type of research used was an experimental study with a pretest-posttest design. The research population was 10 Anjam Slawi Club athletes, with a sample of 10 athletes using a saturated sampling method. This study was divided into 2 groups, multiball and pair training, each group consisting of 5 athletes. Multiball training was measured with 50 balls for 5 minutes, where the subject hit the ball using a forehand drive towards the target, and the score was determined based on the number of balls that entered the target. Pair training was carried out by hitting with an opponent like a match for 5 minutes. The Wilcoxon test showed that multiball training 0.43 and pair training 0.43 had a significant effect (p <0.05). In the T test, the mean value of the multiball pretest was 147.40 and the multiball posttest was 175.80 with a difference of 28. As well as the mean value of the paired training pretest was 141.00 and the paired posttest was 163.60 with a difference of 22. If seen from the difference in the mean value of multiball and paired training, it can be concluded that multiball training has a greater influence on improving forehand drive strokes in Anjam Slawi Club athletes. Thus, this study suggests using the multiball training method.

Abstract

This study analyzes the Government programs of Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI) Regency in encouraging the development of sport tourism as a response to stimulate local economy. This research aims to investigate to examine the contribution of the PALI Regency Government in promoting sport tourism, to identify the strengths and weaknesses accompanying its development process, and to propose strategic options for future sustainable development. A qualitative research approach was employed, which consisted of local government agents, event planners and community leaders. The data was collected through interviews, observation and document review and analyzed with thematic analysis approach to find the common patterns and understanding. The findings indicate that the sport tourism in PALI is relatively new and has not been deeply rooted in the regional tourism management system. Various sport and cultural events like Candi Bumi Ayu Festival have encouraged the participation of the local population and development of micro businesses. The supporting infrastructure for popular tourist sites particularly in and around Candi Bumi Ayu, is insufficient to meet the standards of visitor comfort and ease of access. In sum, the results imply that sport tourism can have considerable strategic promise in the support of local economic diversification. To continue its sustainable advancement beyond the initial enthusiasm, systemic planning, trained manpower development, infrastructure up-gradation and continued collaboration habit are necessary. These works will ensure that sporting tourism really is capable of delivering significant and sustainable economic value to our regions.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the level of dribbling skills among elementary school students participating in extracurricular futsal activities at Muhammadiyah Imam Syuhodo Elementary School. The research subjects consisted of 40 students who were actively involved in the school’s futsal extracurricular program. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using a survey method, with data collected through standardized dribbling skill tests and direct movement observations. The assessment focused on three main movement components: the initial stance, ball contact movement, and the final stance. The results of the study showed that the overall dribbling skill level of students was categorized as moderate, with variations across the assessed components. The initial stance component demonstrated relatively better performance, as most students were able to adopt a basic ready position before dribbling. However, weaknesses were identified in the ball contact movement, particularly in controlling the ball while moving at speed. The lowest performance was found in the final stance component, where many students had difficulty maintaining balance and proper body posture after completing the dribble. The implications of this study emphasize the need for more structured, systematic, and repetitive training programs to enhance fundamental futsal skills among elementary school students. It is recommended that coaches and physical education teachers prioritize basic dribbling techniques through varied and enjoyable training methods, while also improving supporting sports facilities at the school. This study is expected to serve as a reference for developing more effective futsal training programs in elementary school physical education contexts.

Abstract

Burnout is one of the psychological problems that athletes often experience due to the high demands of training and competition. This condition can have a negative impact on athletes' performance, motivation, and career sustainability. One of the psychological factors that is suspected to play a role in lowering the risk of burnout is mindfulness, which is the ability of individuals to be consciously and attentively present to current experiences. This study aims to analyze the relationship between mindfulness and burnout in National Training Center SEA Games Indonesia woodball athletes. This study used a cross-sectional correlation design involving 23 woodball athletes who were members of the Indonesian SEA Games National Training Center program. The sampling technique uses total sampling. Mindfulness was measured using the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), while burnout was measured using the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ). Data collection was carried out indirectly through filling out an independent questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Correlation tests. The results of the study showed that athletes had a fairly good level of mindfulness and the burnout rate was in the medium category. Correlation analysis showed a significant relationship between mindfulness and burnout (r= -0.516; P<0.05) with strong relationship strength, and of the 3 dimensions of burnout Emotional & Physical Exhaustion most correlated with mindfulness (r= -.608; P<0.01).   These findings indicate that mindfulness is related to burnout conditions in woodball athletes. This study concludes that mindfulness can be one of the psychological factors that play a role in helping athletes manage the stress of training and competition, thus potentially lowering the risk of burnout.
