Abstract

Stunting results from nutritional deficiencies during pregnancy and early childhood, affecting physical growth and brain development. Maternal, child, and environmental factors contribute to stunting, which can impair physical, cognitive, and motor development, impacting a child's quality of life. This study analyzes the relationship between risk factors and stunting in children aged 24–59 months in Puskesmas Semen, Kediri Regency, in 2023. Using a correlational approach, 189 randomly selected children were analyzed with the Chi-Square test. Low maternal education increased stunting risk (RR 0.3, p < 0.05), while higher education levels were not significant. Non-exclusive breastfeeding (RR 2.9), low birth weight (RR 2.6), short birth length (RR 2.2), and maternal height <150 cm (RR 1.6) were key risk factors. Preventing stunting requires improving maternal education, promoting exclusive breastfeeding, and monitoring birth weight, birth length, and maternal height during pregnancy

Abstract

The maternal mortality rate that occurs in maternal mothers in Indonesia reaches 189 per 100 thousand live births. 80% percent of maternal deaths are caused by direct factors, one of which is stuck Labor. One of the efforts to reduce the incidence of Labor jams is to shorten or speed up the length of labor. Efforts to speed up the duration of delivery in the first period is by managing the rebozo technique.  Type of experimental research  with case control design and sampling technique  purposive sampling. The samples of 18 maternity mothers was divided into 2 groups, 9  in rebozo technique  and 9  in control group. The results of the study, the analysis with an independent t test, obtained ρ value 0.018 < sig 0.005. From these results, it can be concluded that the rebozo technique is effective in shortening the length of delivery time during First Stage Labor.

Abstract

Children under the age of five (under-fives) are particularly vulnerable to nutritional issues, especially in coastal areas where social, cultural, economic, educational, and hygiene factors play significant roles. The nutritional status of under-fives is influenced by several factors, including exclusive breastfeeding, maternal education and knowledge, family income, and the child’s history of infections. Poor nutrition negatively impacts growth, leading to stunted height and weight, impaired brain development, reduced intelligence, and increased susceptibility to infections. This study employed a descriptive analytic method with purposive sampling. The analysis used univariate analysis to examine the frequency distribution of nutritional status and the characteristics of the children. The results showed that 85.8% of the children had good nutritional status, 11% were undernourished, and 3.2% were severely malnourished. In conclusion, the majority of children in the coastal areas of Bengkulu City were found to have good nutritional status.

Abstract

One cause of colostrum discharge in caesarean section delivery is the implementation of early initiation of breastfeeding (IMD). The study's objective was to investigate the relationship between the implementation of IMD caesarean section delivery and colostrum discharge. The study design was cross-sectional , the population was 50 mothers who underwent caesarean section delivery , sampling using systematic sampling techniques , the number of respondents was 34 people according to the inclusion criteria. The research instruments were questionnaires and observations, then analyzed using Chi-square correlation. and it was found that χ2 count was 5.37 , with a p-value of 0.02 (<0.05), a moderate relationship of 0.37. It was found that the implementation of I MD with an optimal duration (more than 60 minutes) in caesarean section delivery can play a role in accelerating the release of colostrum (less than 24 hours).

Abstract

Anemia is a condition where the number of red blood cells in the body is insufficient. Usually due to malnutrition (iron). Adolescent girls have a higher risk of experiencing anemia compared to adolescent boys because adolescent girls menstruate every month which puts them at risk of losing iron. Beetroot made into pudding can be  a non pharmacological alternative in treating anemia. The purpose of this study was determine the effect of giving beetroot pudding on increasing hemoglobin levels in adolescent girls with anemia at the Paopale Daya-Madura health clinic. This tipe of research is quantitative, using a Quasi Experimental method with a one group pre test post test. The sampling technique in this study was Purposive sampling and obtained 30 respondents with anemia. The sample was obtained according to the inclusion by interview.

Abstract

Anemia is a common condition among pregnant women, primarily caused by iron deficiency, and may lead to complications during pregnancy and childbirth. The 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) reported that 27.7% of pregnant women still experience anemia. Nutritional interventions using vegetables rich in iron and vitamin C, such as water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica), may provide an alternative strategy to improve hemoglobin levels. This study aimed to determine the effect of water spinach consumption on hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. This research used A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The research sample consisted of 30 pregnant women. Hemoglobin levels were measured using a hemoglobin testing device, and observations were recorded on structured sheets.

Abstract

Breastfeeding is a natural process that strengthens the mother–infant bond and requires patience, knowledge, and family support, especially from husbands. This study aimed to examine the relationship between maternal knowledge and husband’s support with the motivation of postpartum mothers in breastfeeding. An analytic design with a cross-sectional approach was used, involving 40 postpartum mothers selected through purposive sampling. Independent variables were maternal knowledge and husband’s support; the dependent variable was breastfeeding motivation. Data collected using questionnaires and analyzed with the chi-square test. The results were that 50% of respondents had good knowledge, 57.5% received husband’s support, and 65% had positive breastfeeding motivation. Chi-Square analysis revealed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and husband’s support and breastfeeding motivation (p = 0.000 < 0.05). Maternal knowledge and husband’s support are critical determinants of breastfeeding motivation. Strengthening health education and encouraging active husband involvement are recommended strategies to enhance exclusive breastfeeding practices.
