Abstract

Introduction: Untreated UTIs during pregnancy can lead to complications for both the mother and the fetus, highlighting the importance of appropriate management. Understanding the sociodemographic profiles of pregnant women with UTIs can aid in tailored interventions and care. Methods: This systematic review followed a protocol registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO ID: CRD42024507145). Cohort cross-sectional studies focusing on the sociodemographic profiles of pregnant women with UTI were systematically searched and selected from databases such as ScienceDirect, Cochrane, Scopus, and PubMed. Eligibility criteria included relevance to sociodemographic profiles, clear extraction and statistical analysis methods, and publication in English. Data extraction and study selection were conducted independently by six researchers, with any discrepancies resolved through discussion. Results: Three studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the systematic review. The studies conducted in the United States, Cameroon, and Bangladesh, which included 46,398 pregnant women, revealed diverse sociodemographic factors associated with UTI risk among pregnant women. Factors such as low educational attainment, low household income, and racial/ethnic disparities were identified as significant contributors to UTI prevalence in the United States. In Cameroon, although a high UTI prevalence was observed, no significant risk factors were identified. In Bangladesh, maternal undernutrition, primiparity, and low paternal education were significant risk factors for UTIs among pregnant women. Antibiotic sensitivity was varied, indicating the complexity of UTI management. Conclusion: The systematic review emphasizes the importance of considering sociodemographic factors in understanding and addressing UTI risk among pregnant women. Socioeconomic status, cultural disparities, and health-related factors play significant roles in UTI prevalence and management. An intervention to target specific sociodemographic characteristics may be necessary to effectively prevent and manage UTIs in pregnant women across different geographical and socioeconomic contexts.

Abstract

Sarcopenia is a condition characterized by a decrease in muscle mass, strength, and function. Hepatic cirrhosis is a catabolic condition, the breakdown of muscle protein exceeds its synthesis; it is closely related to the occurrence of sarcopenia. This association is associated with more severe complications of cirrhosis, more frequent hospital visits, and early death. This literature review will provide insight into the importance of appropriate prevention, monitoring, and management of cirrhosis.

Abstract

Hypoglycemia is a complication of diabetes mellitus (DM) that may be deleterious. The most frequent cause of hypoglycemia in diabetes patients is inappropriate doses of insulin and/or anti-diabetic drugs. Hypoglycemia occurs more often in type 1 DM patients than in type 2 DM patients. Prompt recognition and treatment is critical because hypoglycemia increased morbidity and mortality.

Abstract

ChatGPT (generative pre-training transformer) is an artificial intelligence technology from OpenAI, which functions as a chatbot with human-like conversational capabilities. This emphasizes the potential of ChatGPT in improving health services, such as diabetes mellitus health services. The challenges are factors such as a lack of human resources and low public awareness. ChatGPT integration is proposed to improve the effectiveness of healthcare services, offering diagnostic support, and educational resources for diabetes awareness.

Abstract

Mental disorders were prevalent worldwide, and healthcare utilization was crucial. Initiating and sustaining treatment for individuals with mental disorders was compulsory to achieve recovery, disease burden reduction, and improved quality of life. As an attempt to obtain external assistancen to cope with mental health problems, help-seeking began from the ability to perceive a need for care that raises the seeking help intention. Mental health literacy (MHL) and mental health belief (MHB) influence individuals’ awareness of mental health problems and determine their help-seeking behavior. This review aimed to comprehend help-seeking behavior promotion through MHL, MHB, and interventions known to improve them. Publications within the last 5 years from PubMed and Google Scholar were used as references, including citing the original articles. MHL was influenced by age and gender. Religion, culture, age, and gender have been identified as factors thataffect MHB. Psychoeducation is considered an essential strategy to promote help-seeking behavior, which could be performed individually or in an empowered community. Efforts to understand various populations’ MHB, enhance MHL, and encourage help-seeking behavior should be endorsed. Therefore, early intervention to prevent further mental health burdens could be conducted.

Abstract

Background: Low back pain (LBP) is a musculoskeletal disorder in the lower back region caused by various diseases and activities. LBP among drivers can be caused by individual factors, demographic factors, vehicle design, occupational, and environmental factors. This study aims to determine factors related to low back pain in DAMRI Pontianak-Pangkalan Bun route bus drivers. Method: Observational analytical research with cross-sectional method. Respondents were 30 drivers. Independent variables were age, years of service, driving duration, exercise habits, and body mass index (BMI), while the dependent variable was low back pain. Result: Low back pain was found in 73,3% of respondents, 70% were 35 years old or older, 80% had 5 years of service or more, 50% had 8 hours of driving duration, 60% had poor exercise habits, and 40% were overweight. The chi-square test resulted in significance for age, years of service, driving duration, and exercise habits (p<0.05). Conclusion: Age, years of service, driving duration, and exercise habits were related to low back pain among DAMRI Pontianak-Pangkalan Bun route bus drivers.

Abstract

The rapid growth of nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics has greatly contributed to understanding the importance of genetic, nutrition, and environmental interaction in maintaining human health. Healthy lifestyles such as adequate physical activity and healthy diet patterns have been widely reported may reduce the risk of various diseases. One of the health diet patterns that has been widely studied is the Mediterranean diet (MedDiet). MedDiet is a plant-based diet pattern high in fiber, high in unsaturated fatty acids, and low in meat and dairy products. This literature study aims to summarize the health benefits of the MedDiet pattern and its biomechanisms.

Abstract

Background: The use of USG (ultrasonography) in the ED (emergency department) has grown rapidly to aid decisions on management. Case: A 71-year-old woman with a history of heart disease, in shock condition, fever for 2 days, and diarrhea was referred with diagnosis of cardiogenic shock. On physical examination there were no signs of an acute abdomen, with suspicion of sepsis. Chest x-ray and urine examination did not find signs of infection. During treatment, consciousness and vital signs worsened; abdominal ultrasound showed signs of acute abdomen which was confirmed by 2-position abdominal x-ray. Discussion: In this case, the final diagnosis was septic shock with cardiogenic shock due to secondary peritonitis due to perforated viscous organ and electrolyte imbalance (mild hyponatremia and hypochloremia), altered mental state and geriatric problem. Surgery was not possible due to the patient’s condition. The patient succumbed on the 2nd day of treatment. Conclusion: Bedside ultrasound examination helps to establish an earlier diagnosis in patients especially with atypical symptoms and may be the key to providing better medical decisions in the ED.
