Abstract

Abstract

This study is motivated by the dynamics of the national economy affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic recovery, which have influenced the performance of the banking sector, including Sharia Business Units (SBUs) in Indonesia. This research aims to analyze the effect of Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO), Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR), and Non-Performing Financing (NPF) on the financial performance of Sharia Business Units, measured by Return on Assets (ROA), in Indonesian national private banks during the period 2020–2024. The relationship between independent and dependent variables is explained using signaling theory. This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from the financial reports of Sharia Business Units. Data analysis techniques include descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and panel data regression with 20 quarterly observations. The results show that BOPO has a negative and significant effect on ROA, FDR has a positive and significant effect on ROA, while NPF has a negative but insignificant effect on ROA. Simultaneously, BOPO, FDR, and NPF have a significant effect on the financial performance of Sharia Business Units. These findings indicate that operational efficiency and effective financing distribution play a crucial role in improving the financial performance of SBUs.

Abstract

Abstract

The hospitality industry faces intensifying competition, necessitating promotional strategies that attract tourists while building trust. One such approach is "Muslim-Friendly Hospitality" promotion—a strategy highlighting facilities and services that cater to the needs of Muslim tourists while maintaining inclusive service for non-Muslim guests. This study aims to analyze the Muslim-Friendly Hospitality promotional strategy at Kata Oma Hotel, Bengkulu City, regarding its impact on tourist interest, and to examine it from a Sharia economic perspective. A qualitative descriptive method involving field research was employed. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation involving six informants: a manager, marketing staff, security personnel, and three hotel guests. Data analysis involved reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that promotional strategies were executed via social media, Online Travel Agents (OTAs), influencer collaborations, and direct outreach to government agencies and private companies. These strategies were reinforced by the implementation of Muslim-Friendly Hospitality practices, such as providing halal food, prayer rooms (mushala), prayer equipment, copies of the Quran, Qibla direction indicators, wudu-friendly sanitation facilities, and friendly, professional service. These strategies contributed to increased visitor interest, trust, brand image, and hotel competitiveness. From a Sharia economic perspective, the promotional strategy aligns with the principles of (shiddiq), (amanah), (tabligh), (fathanah), and (al-'adl), and is free from elements of (gharar) and (tadlis).

Abstract

This study aims to examine the digital marketing strategy of Bank Muamalat Bengkulu Branch in facing banking competition in the digital era and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of personnel involved in digital marketing and customer services and three active Bank Muamalat customers. The interviews were conducted on 9 July 2026. The strategy was analyzed using the 4P marketing mix: product, price, place, and promotion. The findings indicate that Bank Muamalat Bengkulu Branch introduces its products through Muamalat DIN, the official website, social media, digital advertising, and cooperation with various parties. In terms of price, information on administrative fees and profit-sharing arrangements is communicated through digital media, customer service, and educational activities. In terms of place, digital services enable customers to access information and conduct transactions without visiting the branch. Promotion uses Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok, YouTube, webinars, educational content, customer testimonials, and digital advertising. Supporting factors mentioned by informants include technological development, increasing internet and smartphone use, social media, wider internet access, and Muamalat DIN. Inhibiting factors include limited public understanding of Islamic banking, some customers' unfamiliarity with digital services, competition with other banks, and network and technical problems reported by customers. Qualitatively, the interviewed customers expressed positive views regarding the convenience of digital services, while also identifying the need for feature development and technical improvements.

Abstract

This study examines the aspect of independence regarding human resources—specifically Sharia auditors. It employs a qualitative method utilizing a descriptive-analytical approach. The research was conducted through a literature review, with analysis involving the classification, reduction, and verification of sources concerning auditor independence. Sharia auditor independence is crucial for ensuring that Sharia audits are conducted objectively, free from the influence of personal interests or external parties. Objective audit results enhance stakeholder confidence in Sharia financial institutions.
