Abstract

Stunting remains one of the nutritional issues that requires serious attention because it impacts physical growth, cognitive development, and the quality of human resources. One preventive measure that can be implemented at the community level is to empower mothers’ groups through local food diversification. This community service activity aims to improve mothers’ knowledge about stunting prevention through the diversification of local foods in Ulu Sawa Village, North Konawe. The methods used include education and mentoring for groups of mothers through outreach sessions on stunting, the importance of balanced nutrition, and the utilization of local foods as a source of nutritious food for children and families. Evaluation was conducted using pre-tests and post-tests to measure changes in participants’ knowledge levels before and after the activity. The results of the community service program showed an increase in mothers’ knowledge following the program’s implementation. These results indicate that the implemented community service program was effective in increasing mothers’ knowledge of stunting prevention. Thus, empowering mothers’ groups through the diversification of local foods can serve as a relevant and sustainable strategy in supporting efforts to prevent stunting at the village level.

Abstract

This community service initiative aims to enhance the competence of final-year students at the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Adab, and Humanities, UIN Salatiga, in reference management and plagiarism checking through training on the use of Mendeley and Turnitin applications. The challenges faced by students include difficulties in systematically compiling citations and bibliographies, as well as a limited understanding of the importance of maintaining the originality of scholarly work. The activity employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, comprising stages of needs identification, training, hands-on practice, and mentoring. The training material covered reference management with Mendeley and the assessment of manuscript similarity with Turnitin. The results indicate an improvement in participants' abilities to manage citations and bibliographies automatically, check for manuscript similarity, and understand corrective measures to minimize plagiarism. Concretely, this activity helped students improve the quality of their final projects, accelerate the scholarly writing process, reduce citation errors, and raise awareness regarding academic ethics and scholarly integrity. Thus, this training and mentoring program serves as a model for sustainable enhancement of academic literacy, supporting improvements in the quality of students' scholarly work within the university environment.

Abstract

Building construction projects are among the construction activities with the highest risk of occupational accidents. This community service program examined the extent to which Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) practices were implemented in the construction of the Islamic Character Elementary School building in Aceh Besar Regency. The program was conducted through three stages: an initial approach and observation of work habits (baseline assessment), practical demonstrations and on-site assistance (action and coaching), and behavioral monitoring and impact evaluation. These activities involved construction workers, forepersons, project supervisors, and representatives of the school. The program aimed to obtain a systematic and factual understanding of OSH implementation at the project site. The findings showed that OSH practices had been introduced and partially implemented; however, their application remained suboptimal. Several workers still demonstrated limited compliance with safety procedures and the use of personal protective equipment. These findings indicate the need for continuous supervision, regular safety training, and stronger commitment from all parties involved in the construction project.
