Abstract

News quality is one factor affecting the readability of news on a website. PdSI study program students who are among the news writers on the study program website need to improve their writing skills, so students need to take part in news writing training. This service aims to provide students of the Library and Information Science Program (Prodi PdSI) with training on writing news articles for a website. The service employs the Service Learning (SL) method, which consists of three stages: Pre-Implementation, Implementation, and Post-Implementation. During the training phase, the facilitators collaborated with a third party, Skill Academy. The training was titled “Jurnalistik: Teknik Menulis Naskah Berita Seperti Jurnalis Andal” by Prita Kusuma. The training materials included a pre-exam, 12 learning modules, and a post-exam. The training sessions successfully benefited students, as they became knowledgeable and skilled in writing news articles for websites. In addition to benefiting the students, this training also positively impacted the study program, as it now has students capable and competent in writing news articles about activities related to the program.

Abstract

Gastritis is one of the most common digestive disorders in the community, often accompanied by symptoms of epigastric pain as well as nausea and vomiting that interfere with the patient's quality of life. Optimal symptom management requires understanding the causative factors and appropriate intervention techniques, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological techniques. This training aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the community in dealing with pain symptoms as well as nausea and vomiting in people with gastritis. The training method includes delivering material through interactive lectures, group discussions, and hands-on practice of non-pharmacological techniques such as diet management, relaxation techniques, and acupressure. In addition, participants were given education about the proper use of drugs according to medical recommendations. The training results are expected to increase public understanding of the importance of early detection, prevention, and treatment of gastritis, as well as reduce dependence on inappropriate treatment. This training is the first step in building a society that cares more about digestive health, with the hope of positively impacting the quality of life of individuals with gastritis and their families.

Abstract

Numeracy literacy is an understanding that includes numbers, mathematical operations, and the use of mathematical concepts to solve problems through reasoning skills. In several KKN (Real Work Lecture) programs, we want to implement a numeracy literacy program for elementary school children in grade 6 in Ngrombo Hamlet. This program is given to elementary school children, specifically those in grade 6, totaling 12 people. The method used for this community service activity includes activity preparation, activity implementation, and activity evaluation. Through several methods of this activity, we have obtained quite satisfactory results, from initially children having difficulty completing daily tasks, especially mathematics subjects, to become more understanding in calculating and reasoning on every problem regarding mathematics. The Magic Number Adventure is a game prop we provide; through this adventure-based game, we teach the concept of fractions through fun interactions. The game-based learning method has proven effective because children are more interested and can learn in a fun way.

Abstract

The mental health of each family member has a significant impact on family well-being. This community service aims to raise public awareness about the importance of mental health in supporting family well-being through a counseling session held at Pendopo Padukuhan Gonjen RT 08, Tamantirto, Kasihan, Bantul. The methods used include lectures and interactive discussions, attended by 30 participants, comprising heads of families and their family members. The results of the counseling session indicated that many participants were previously unaware of the impact of mental health issues such as stress and anxiety on family relationships. Through the lecture, participants gained knowledge about the signs of mental health problems and learned ways to manage stress and enhance emotional well-being. The discussion allowed participants to engage actively, share their experiences, and gain a deeper understanding of the role of mental health in maintaining a harmonious family life. This community service activity highlights the importance of enhancing mental health literacy to promote family well-being and address the psychological challenges that impact family dynamics.

Abstract

Improving the economic and agricultural quality value is an effort to carry out activities more effectively, encompassing both efficiency and result quality aspects. This process involves analyzing past activities, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing new strategies to achieve higher goals. In this context, economic education plays a crucial role in household financial management. In agriculture, the KKN program in Kesongo Village focuses on longan tree cultivation through fertilizer education using boosters. This program aims not only to enhance agricultural output but also to raise awareness about sustainable farming practices. The Participatory Action Research (PAR) method is applied in this program, involving the active participation of the community in planning and implementation. The positive response from the community shows new hope for increasing agricultural productivity through a collaborative and sustainable approach.

Abstract

The rapid development of this technology not only provides benefits for its users and gives rise to crime cases (cybercrime). Many cases of crime occur in cyberspace, which is currently busy. It is important to understand internet security to identify possible threats and learn how to overcome them. This activity was carried out at SMA Darussyahid Sampang to give students a sense of awareness of the dangers of crime in cyberspace. The methods used in this community service are surveys, lectures, and discussions. It is hoped that this socialization will open up teenage students to understand how to secure personal data on virtual media. This community service provides benefits both for service partners or participants and for service members, including increasing knowledge regarding the dangers of cybercrime in cyberspace so that students are more careful when using social media, keeping the data safer from the dangers of cybercrime; after participating in the training, participants expressed a high level of satisfaction with the implementation.

Abstract

Starting an entrepreneur must be considered, especially for teenagers in the industrial era 4.0. At Darus Syahid High School, Sampang, the cultivation of entrepreneurship is still not optimal; there are no entrepreneurship subjects in the learning process. This service aims to increase insight and motivate Darus Syahid Sampang High School students about starting entrepreneurship and to make it easier for students to carry out low-fund-based businesses that are effective and efficient for the needs of teenagers and even adults who want to start a business. The methods used in this community service are surveys, lectures, and discussions. This socialization will likely motivate teenage students to start entrepreneurship. This community service benefits both partners and participants (students), namely, increasing knowledge about entrepreneurship, success factors in entrepreneurship, and starting and maintaining a business. After attending the training, participants expressed high satisfaction with the implementation.

Abstract

Community service through investment education classes and trading competitions in the Islamic capital market class of the Islamic Business Management Study Program, FEBI UIN Salatiga, aims to enhance financial literacy and students' understanding of portfolio management. Good financial literacy is a fundamental necessity for students to make wise financial decisions and avoid risky investments. This activity is designed to provide insights into investment concepts, risk management strategies, and hands-on trading practices through competitive simulations. The methods used in this program include interactive education sessions conducted by the Indonesia Stock Exchange and Mirae Asset Securities, market analysis training, and a trading competition aimed at developing students' investment decision-making skills. The results of this program indicate an improvement in students' knowledge and understanding of investment principles, portfolio diversification strategies, and the importance of risk management in financial markets. Through this initiative, students are expected to become more aware of the importance of early investment and be able to manage their finances more effectively in the future. Moreover, this program contributes to fostering a sustainable and healthy investment ecosystem among the younger generation.

Abstract

Teluk Bidara Beach is located in Seberang Pintasan Village, Dungun, Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia. Teluk Bidara Beach is one of the tourist destinations on the east coast of Malaysia which has stunning natural beauty. However, behind its beauty there is still a lot of plastic waste littering the beach area. This trash not only destroys the beauty of nature but also endangers the surrounding marine ecosystem. Therefore, a beach cleanup and environmental awareness education was carried out through direct education methods and waste sorting activities in collaboration with the Geng Plastik Ija (GPI) community. This activity succeeded in collecting around 171.65 kg of plastic waste and 29.29 kg of glass bottles. The impact of this activity is the increasing awareness of the community in protecting the beach environment which will make the beach clean, comfortable and increase the attractiveness of tourists to the beach so that economic growth in the area will increase.

Abstract

Pustaka Bengawan is a micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) operating in the publishing and printing sector, and is required to comply with the latest digital tax system, Coretax. However, the company faces limitations in information, understanding, and readiness to effectively access and implement the system. This community engagement initiative aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of Coretax through an interactive workshop and practical demonstration involving the business owner and employees. The materials were delivered in a simple and accessible manner to accommodate participants’ diverse backgrounds. Live demonstrations covered the registration process and tax reporting using Coretax, followed by a Q&A session to address participant concerns. The results showed a significant improvement: participants with a high level of understanding increased from one to four, while those with a low level of understanding decreased from three to one. Key challenges included limited time and varied digital literacy. To address this, supplementary materials, including handouts and video tutorials, were provided. This activity proved beneficial in promoting tax compliance and strengthening communication between taxpayers and the tax authority.
