Abstract

This activity is a counselling session conducted by a group of students from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. Counseling on Nutritional Health Investment and Selection of Safe Skincare Products for Adolescents. This counselling aims to educate, provide understanding, and increase awareness among high school students as an adolescent age group who are experiencing physical, emotional, and social transitions, that balanced nutrition is important in supporting growth and long-term health and also the importance of choosing skincare products that are appropriate for skin type and age. The implementation of this activity employs an educational counselling approach for students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. The procedure for implementing the activity involves the delivery of the first material on nutritional health investment, followed by the next material on choosing safe skincare for adolescents. A questionnaire was also held to determine the level of understanding of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Malang students regarding the material that has been delivered. The results of the post-test, carried out by approximately 70 students, showed an excellent level of understanding.

Abstract

Public speaking is a vital skill for students, particularly those majoring in English. However, many students still experience obstacles in terms of self-confidence and the courage to speak in public. This community service activity aims to improve public speaking skills through practice and feedback-based training. The training involved 25 students from various English study programs at Makassar State University with an experiential learning approach that included theory sessions, impromptu speech practice, and reflection. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in three main aspects: awareness of the importance of speaking skills, increased self-confidence, and courage to appear in public speaking. As many as 90% of participants stated that this training helped them be more prepared to speak in public. This activity shows that the practice and feedback approach is effective in building students' soft communication skills and is worthy of being integrated into self-development programs in higher education.

Abstract

The objective of this community engagement activity is to support the improvement of the economic well-being of coastal fishermen in the Gresik area. This initiative is based on the need to preserve fish by reducing its moisture content, thereby inhibiting the growth and proliferation of bacteria (microorganisms) and extending the shelf life of the fish. One of the most common preservation methods is drying. Traditionally, fish drying is conducted using direct solar exposure. However, this method is unhygienic, as the fish is exposed to contamination from insects, birds, and other animals. Additionally, it is prone to dust and cannot be carried out during rainy conditions, which delays the drying process and affects productivity. These challenges have led to the idea of designing and developing a fish drying device using an indirect active solar drying method. Therefore, the Corrosion and Battery Laboratory of the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering (DTMM FTIRS – ITS), took the initiative to carry out a community service program focused on the development of a fish drying device through a participatory-collaborative mentoring approach with fishermen in the coastal area of Gresik. As a result of this program, a functional fish drying device was produced, and the local fishermen are now able to utilize it effectively.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has enabled the presentation of information practically and systematically that can be accessed by diverse groups of people. One of the essential types of information needed by the public is related to areas they intend to visit without having to be physically present beforehand. In response to these technological developments, an integrated website serves as an effective medium to provide the required information while simultaneously functioning as a platform for regional promotion. Beyond village promotion, the integrated website also benefits local business actors by enabling them to create business profiles. The cause-and-effect method using a fishbone diagram was applied as a systematic approach to address the promotional challenges faced by Banyuwangi Village and to provide solutions through the development of the integrated website. This method illustrates each underlying condition contributing to the problem, allowing appropriate countermeasures to be identified. The project resulted in the integrated website www.desabanyuwangi.com, which serves as a platform to showcase the village’s tourism, natural resources, and local businesses. In addition, training on Google Business was provided to local MSMEs to improve their digital literacy and expand their market reach. Overall, the program not only produced a tangible technological output but also fostered community empowerment through digital capacity building.

Abstract

The International Office Voluntary Program (IOSVOLP) at UIN Salatiga plays a strategic role in supporting the internationalization of higher education through active student involvement as volunteers. This program focuses on assisting international students in academic and non-academic adaptation while promoting Islamic values such as khidmah (service), ikhlas (sincerity), and amanah (responsibility). Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, the program fosters collaboration among students, the institution, and the international community. Results show that volunteers significantly strengthen international services, cultural exchange, and the university’s global networking, contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as quality education, reduced inequalities, and peace-building. Challenges encountered include communication barriers and cultural differences, which are addressed through structured training, cultural introduction, and language support. The study highlights the need for a sustainable volunteer development system, including regular training and evaluation, to ensure both technical competence and value-based awareness. IOSVOLP is expected to serve as a professional and globally oriented campus volunteerism model rooted in Islamic values.

Abstract

This community engagement initiative was implemented to enhance financial literacy among students of SMP Islam Tanwirul Qulub Sengketan, located in Montong Ajan Village. The program was motivated by observations showing that many junior high school students still lack basic knowledge of financial concepts such as saving, budgeting, and understanding the value of money. Activities were carried out using a participatory approach, actively involving students throughout the process. The program was further enriched with interactive games and a social service component, including the distribution of school supplies and other essential educational materials. Through these activities, students at SMP Islam Tanwirul Qulub gained a clearer understanding of personal financial concepts, including the importance of saving, distinguishing between needs and wants, and managing their pocket money wisely.

Abstract

This Community Service Activity aimed to enhance financial literacy and family financial management skills among mothers in the Klaten Pimpinan Daerah Aisyiyah Economic and Employment Council. The program was motivated by the low level of understanding regarding financial planning, recording, and control, which affects family welfare. Thirty participants joined enthusiastically, engaging in lectures, discussions, case studies, and hands-on budgeting and financial training. Pre-and post-test evaluation revealed improvements across all indicators, with the most significant increases in preparing regular budgets (15.7%) and recording income and expenses (8.3%). More minor improvements were noted in prioritizing basic needs (4.1%) and managing expenses (0.9%), likely because many participants, as housewives, were already accustomed to these practices in daily life. In terms of effectiveness, the activity successfully improved participants’ knowledge and skills. From an efficiency perspective, it was carried out optimally despite limited time. Moving forward, this initiative is expected to foster positive financial habits within families and strengthen household economic resilience through ongoing mentoring.

Abstract

The training on the use of the Mendeley application was carried out as an effort to improve students’ skills in academic writing. Many students still performed citation and bibliography preparation manually, which often led to errors and inconsistencies. This community service activity applied a participatory training method based on hands-on practice, consisting of interactive lectures, technical demonstrations, and independent practice with guidance. The participants were 14 final-year students who were taking the Research Methodology course or writing their undergraduate thesis. The evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in students’ skills, where the average mastery, initially below 25%, increased to more than 80% after the training. In addition, the writing practice results showed that students were able to use Mendeley to import references, generate automatic citations, and create bibliographies. Therefore, this training proved effective in enhancing students’ digital literacy, supporting academic integrity, and can be replicated in other universities.

Abstract

The legitimacy and access to government support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia are often hindered by the lack of business legality, particularly in rural areas like Samirono Village, where many MSMEs operate without formal documents such as the Business Identification Number (NIB), impacting their competitiveness and economic sustainability. This study aims to analyze the role of NIB legality in enhancing operational effectiveness and facilitating MSMEs' access to government facilities and programs in Samirono Village. A qualitative approach was employed using a descriptive participatory method, where MSMEs actively participated in the data collection process, packaged as a Work Program during the KKN KSEI UIN Salatiga 2025 activity, including coordination with village authorities, MSME data collection, and technical assistance for NIB registration. The results show that four MSMEs previously without NIB successfully obtained it through guidance, thereby increasing legal awareness, streamlining bureaucratic processes, and opening opportunities such as halal certification and capital access. So, NIB legality plays a crucial role as an empowerment strategy for MSMEs to achieve more effective operations and broader access to government support, with recommendations for the government to simplify licensing processes to support sustainable MSME development (conclusion).

Abstract

Community service through the Community Service Program (KKN) is one form of student contribution to addressing community problems. Community service through the Community Service Learning Programme (KKN) in Banjardowo Village aims to increase awareness and utilisation of digital technology for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The lack of digital information about important locations in Banjardowo Village, such as MSMEs and tile manufacturing sites, has become an obstacle to disseminating marketing information and providing access to the broader community. Through the Community Service Program (KKN), the service team conducted digital mapping using Google Maps to introduce and facilitate access to MSME locations, especially roof tile production sites, and to create business image boards for culinary MSMEs in Banjardowo Village. Students also provided education to children on instilling Islamic values, insights into the village's potential, and the importance of Clean and Healthy Living Behaviour (PHBS). The results of this activity are expected to increase the visibility and competitiveness of local MSMEs and support the development of Banjardowo Village as a smart tourist village.
