Abstract

The learning of Qur’anic memorization (tahfidz) requires an effective method that not only increases the quantity of memorization but also maintains the quality of recitation in accordance with the rules of tajwid and proper pronunciation of makharijul huruf. This research is important because many students are able to memorize a large number of verses, yet their recitation quality does not fully meet the expected standards. This study aims to examine the effect of the application of the talaqqi method on the quality of Qur’anic memorization of female students at Al-Muslimun Islamic Boarding School, Sumberagung, Plaosan, Magetan. The research employed a quantitative approach using an ex post facto research design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to female students participating in the tahfidz program and analyzed using normality tests and simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The findings indicate that the application of the talaqqi method has a significant effect on the quality of Qur’anic memorization, particularly in terms of accuracy of recitation, fluency of memorization, and correct articulation of makharijul huruf. Therefore, the talaqqi method is proven to be effective and relevant for improving the quality of Qur’anic memorization in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

Creativity is a fundamental aspect of modern education, yet its integration into religious subjects like Fiqh often faces unique pedagogical challenges. This study aims to analyze the role of Fiqh teachers in developing the learning creativity of sixth-grade students at Madrasah Salafiyah Ula (MSU) Nashrus Sunnah in Madiun. To achieve this objective, a descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation analysis of instructional activities. The results of the study indicate that Fiqh teachers perform multifaceted roles as motivators, inspirers, and guides throughout the learning process. By implementing interactive methods including Fiqh-based case discussions, project-based learning, and the use of creative visual media teachers successfully encouraged students to think critically and innovatively about religious jurisprudence. The findings reveal that supporting factors for this development include a conducive madrasah environment and strong collaboration between teachers and parents. However, significant obstacles such as limited facilities, infrastructure constraints, and restricted instructional time remain challenges that must be addressed. Based on these findings, this study provides recommendations for Fiqh teachers to continuously enhance their pedagogical competence and adopt more varied, student-centered approaches. Furthermore, the study suggests that madrasah administrators should prioritize infrastructure development to fully maximize students’ creative potential in religious education.

Abstract

Moral education at the elementary level has become increasingly urgent as children are exposed to rapid digital transformation and inconsistent moral supervision across home and school contexts. This study aims to analyze how Aqidah Akhlak learning strategies contribute to the formation of noble character among fifth-grade students at Madrasah Salafiyah Ula Nashrus Sunnah Madiun. A qualitative descriptive case-study design was employed to obtain an in-depth understanding of instructional practices, religious habituation, and supporting and inhibiting factors in character formation. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with the headmaster, an Aqidah Akhlak teacher, and student representatives, non-participant observations of daily religious activities, and documentation of school programs and learning materials. The data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that Aqidah Akhlak learning operates through three integrated mechanisms: teacher modeling, structured religious habituation, and positive reinforcement. Morning dhikr, congregational Dhuha prayer, the jimpitan charity program, congregational prayer routines, storytelling, advice, reward, and educative sanctions collectively internalize honesty, discipline, patience, simplicity, responsibility, and compassion. The novelty of this study lies in identifying the madrasah-based character formation ecosystem as a continuous interaction among classroom instruction, daily worship habituation, teacher role modeling, and parent-school synergy. The study implies that noble character formation requires not only curriculum delivery but also a consistent educational ecology across school, family, and digital environments.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the phenomenon of declining Al-Qur'an memorization quality due to a lack of consistent and varied methods. The Kitabah (writing) method is proposed as a multisensory solution to enhance memory retention. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Kitabah method, measure the memorization quality of female students, and analyze the extent of the Kitabah method's influence on memorization quality at Madrasah Putri At-Taqwa Karanganyar. This research employs a quantitative ex post facto approach with a total sampling technique involving 33 female students. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and oral tests, then analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicate that both the implementation of the Kitabah method and the students' memorization quality are in the "excellent" category. The statistical analysis found a significant positive and linear effect of the Kitabah method on the quality of Al-Qur'an memorization, contributing 95.1% (p = 0.000 < 0.05) to the variance in memorization quality. These findings suggest that the Kitabah method significantly predicts and relates to the reinforcement of visual-motor traces in the brain, thereby showing a strong and significant positive influence on memorization retention and accuracy.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of Friday morning and afternoon ta'lim (religious instruction) programs at SMPN 1 Bandar, Pacitan Regency, driven by the critical need to fortify adolescent moral development against contemporary digital-era challenges. It specifically evaluates how these co-curricular activities reinforce students' learning achievements in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Operating within a descriptive qualitative field research design, data were compiled through participant observations, semi-structured interviews, and student report-card documentation. Informants were selected via purposive sampling, consisting of the headmaster, PAI instructors, and student representatives. The empirical data were systematically processed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the structured Friday programs successfully expand the conventional classroom paradigm. The morning session delivers universal moral habituation, while the gender-segregated afternoon session optimizes practical jurisprudence (fiqh) and reproductive health literacy. Quantifiably, the program yields a comprehensive enhancement across three educational domains: cognitive progression evidenced by higher PAI report marks, psychomotor mastery shown through fluent Qur'anic recitation and accurate worship mechanics, and affective transformation manifested in heightened discipline and interpersonal courtesy. This study underscores that integrating structured non-formal religious activities into public school ecosystems serves as a highly predictable catalyst for holistic PAI academic achievement, provided that structural limitations such as constrained session duration are continuously moderated by collaborative faculty supervision.

Abstract

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) emphasize the importance of education in supporting sustainable development, including through biology education. However, studies discussing the contribution of biology education to SDGs remain fragmented and generally focus on specific aspects. Therefore, this study aimed to identify publication trends, map the contribution of biology education toward SDG 4, SDG 6, SDG 7, SDG 11, SDG 12, SDG 13, SDG 14, and SDG 15, and formulate directions for sustainability-oriented biology learning development based on literature synthesis. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with PRISMA stages, including identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. Articles were collected through Google Scholar using the Publish or Perish application. From 1,121 identified articles, 30 articles published between 2021–2025 in SINTA and Scopus-indexed journals were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results indicated that biology education contributed significantly to SDG 4, SDG 13, and SDG 15 through innovative learning models, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), scientific literacy, climate change education, biodiversity conservation, and ecology-based learning. Meanwhile, contributions to SDG 7, SDG 12, and SDG 14 were still limited. These findings indicate that biology education plays a strategic role in developing sustainability competencies by integrating scientific understanding, environmental awareness, and sustainability-related skills within the learning process. The findings may serve as a basis for developing ESD-oriented biology curricula and strengthening future research on underrepresented SDGs, particularly sustainable energy, responsible consumption and production, and marine ecosystem conservation. Nevertheless, the findings should be interpreted within the methodological scope of this review, which relied on Google Scholar as the primary database and did not include a formal quality appraisal process.

Abstract

The postponement of marriage among Muslim Generation Z has become a prominent socio-legal phenomenon shaped by economic uncertainty, educational aspirations, career orientation, digital culture, and changing perceptions of marital readiness. This article aims to analyze the factors that encourage Muslim Generation Z to delay marriage and to examine this phenomenon from the perspective of Islamic family law and Jasser Auda’s maqasid shariah systems approach. This study employs normative juridical research using conceptual and statutory approaches. The primary legal materials consist of Indonesian marriage regulations, the Compilation of Islamic Law, and Islamic legal principles related to marriage, while secondary materials include peer-reviewed journal articles, books, statistical reports, and contemporary studies on waithood, marriage anxiety, and Muslim youth. The materials were collected through a documented library search, selected based on relevance, recency, accessibility, and legal-conceptual suitability, and then analyzed using descriptive-analytical and prescriptive legal reasoning. The findings show that the postponement of marriage among Muslim Generation Z is mainly influenced by financial instability, educational and career priorities, psychological readiness, changing gender expectations, and digital narratives about family life. From the perspective of Islamic family law, marriage delay cannot automatically be regarded as a rejection of marriage; rather, it may be understood as an effort to achieve istitha‘ah and to prepare physical, psychological, economic, and spiritual readiness for responsible family life. Through Jasser Auda’s systems approach, the phenomenon can be read contextually through the features of cognition, wholeness, openness, interrelated hierarchy, multidimensionality, and purposefulness, all of which emphasize the protection of the self, lineage, dignity, and family welfare. The study implies that Islamic family law discourse needs to respond to Generation Z’s marital concerns through adaptive premarital education, family counseling, and contextual legal interpretation while maintaining the normative objectives of marriage in Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate Total Quality Management (TQM) from the perspectives of Deming, Juran, and Crosby in improving educational quality at Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat (PKBM). The urgency of this study is grounded in the need for PKBM, as a community-based non-formal education institution, to strengthen service quality, institutional accountability, tutor competence, stakeholder participation, and continuous improvement culture. This study employed a qualitative literature review with an evaluative-conceptual approach by synthesizing theoretical works, empirical studies, and policy-oriented literature related to TQM, quality assurance, non-formal education, and Community Learning Centres. The analysis was conducted through thematic synthesis by mapping Deming’s principles of systemic leadership and continuous improvement, Juran’s quality trilogy of planning, control, and improvement, and Crosby’s principles of conformance to requirements, prevention, and zero defects. The findings indicate that the three perspectives offer complementary contributions to PKBM quality improvement. Deming strengthens process orientation and sustainable quality culture; Juran provides a structured mechanism for quality planning, monitoring, and institutional improvement; while Crosby reinforces service consistency, administrative accuracy, and prevention of quality failure. This study concludes that TQM can serve as a contextual evaluation framework for improving PKBM governance, learning services, tutor professionalism, learner satisfaction, and stakeholder trust. The implication of this study is that PKBM managers and policymakers need to develop clearer quality standards, strengthen internal evaluation, improve tutor capacity, and institutionalize continuous improvement as the basis of non-formal education quality management.

Abstract

Curriculum planning is a strategic component of educational quality because it determines how institutional vision, graduate profiles, learning outcomes, content structure, pedagogical strategies, assessment systems, and quality assurance mechanisms are translated into meaningful learning experiences. This study aims to analyze the principles of curriculum planning in improving educational quality through an integrative literature review. The study synthesized peer-reviewed articles published between 2018 and 2025 that were relevant to curriculum planning, curriculum management, quality assurance, outcome-based education, educational quality culture, and continuous improvement. The literature was analyzed through data reduction, thematic coding, conceptual comparison, and synthesis of findings. The results show that quality-oriented curriculum planning is constructed through seven main principles: relevance, coherence, participation, flexibility, integration, learning outcome orientation, and continuous evaluation. Relevance ensures that the curriculum responds to learners’ needs, societal demands, scientific development, labour market expectations, and institutional identity; coherence aligns vision, graduate profiles, learning outcomes, content, pedagogy, and assessment; participation strengthens accountability and stakeholder ownership; flexibility enables curriculum adaptation to technological, social, and policy changes; integration connects knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and learning experiences; learning outcome orientation makes curriculum implementation measurable; and continuous evaluation supports evidence-based improvement. This study concludes that curriculum planning should not be treated merely as an administrative document, but as a strategic quality instrument that influences educational input, process, output, outcome, and institutional quality culture. The implication of this study is that educational institutions need to develop curriculum planning systems that are data-driven, participatory, coherent, adaptive, and continuously evaluated to ensure sustainable improvement in educational quality

Abstract

Entrepreneurship education in Islamic boarding schools is increasingly important for developing students who are not only religiously grounded but also independent, responsible, creative, and socially productive. This study aims to analyze how pesantren management contributes to the formation of students’ entrepreneurial character through entrepreneurship programs at an Indonesian Islamic boarding school. This research employed a qualitative case study design at Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah Bandar Lampung. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving pesantren leaders, entrepreneurship program managers, teachers, and students. The data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that entrepreneurial character formation was carried out through three interconnected management stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. Planning was reflected in the formulation of entrepreneurship programs oriented toward students’ independence, responsibility, discipline, creativity, confidence, and risk-taking ability. Implementation was conducted through students’ direct involvement in pesantren business units, including a pesantren mart, café, fish pond, and garden. Evaluation was not limited to economic outcomes but also emphasized behavioral changes among students, particularly in responsibility, initiative, discipline, and self-reliance. This study concludes that pesantren-based entrepreneurship programs can function as both managerial and pedagogical instruments for character formation. The implication is that Islamic boarding schools need to manage entrepreneurship programs systematically and evaluate them based on students’ character development, not merely institutional economic productivity.
