Abstract

Character formation has become a central concern in Islamic Religious Education, particularly in supporting students’ internalization of moral values through learning experiences that extend beyond classroom instruction. This study aims to analyze the internalization of Hapkido values in Islamic Religious Education learning at SMP Negeri 9 Krui, with a particular focus on the impact of Hapkido values on students’ character and morality, students’ roles in integrating these values, and the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing the internalization process. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 9 Krui, Pesisir Barat, Lampung, involving one teacher or Hapkido instructor and two students as the main informants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation, and were subsequently analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Hapkido values contribute to strengthening students’ honesty, discipline, responsibility, courage, perseverance, respect, courtesy, and self-control. Students also played an active role in integrating these values into learning activities, worship practices, social interactions, and broader school activities. The internalization process was supported by teacher guidance, school facilities, extracurricular activities, family support, and students’ willingness to improve themselves. However, it was still constrained by laziness, behavioral inconsistency, excessive joking, and limited emotional regulation among some students. This study implies that Hapkido can serve as an experiential medium for strengthening Islamic character education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model on elementary school students’ learning interest in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This study employed a literature review method with a qualitative descriptive approach. The data sources were obtained from relevant journal articles, conference proceedings, undergraduate theses, and academic books accessed through academic databases such as Google Scholar, Garuda Kemendikbud, dan ERIC. The literature selection process was conducted using a simplified PRISMA approach based on predetermined inclusion criteria. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model has a positive effect on increasing elementary school students’ interest in learning Islamic Religious Education. The implementation of the TGT model is able to create an active, enjoyable, and interactive learning environment through group collaboration, educational games, and academic tournaments. This model also enhances students’ participation, motivation, cooperation, and communication skills. Furthermore, the TGT model is considered suitable for the characteristics of elementary school students, who generally enjoy playing activities and collaborative learning. Therefore, the TGT learning model can serve as an innovative instructional alternative to improve students’ learning interest in Islamic Religious Education subjects.

Abstract

Learning motivation and learning concentration are essential psychological factors influencing students’ engagement and academic achievement, particularly in Islamic Religious Education and Character Building subjects. However, preliminary observations at SMK Negeri 1 Kotabumi indicated that students demonstrated low learning motivation and concentration, reflected in limited classroom participation, low learning interest, monotonous teaching methods, and less interactive learning environments. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the correlation between students’ learning motivation and learning concentration in Islamic Religious Education and Character-Building classes at SMK Negeri 1 Kotabumi. This study employed Self-Determination Theory (SDT) developed by Deci and Ryan as the grand theory to explain the relationship between intrinsic motivation and students’ psychological engagement during learning activities. A quantitative approach with a correlational ex-post facto design was applied. The population consisted of 419 eleventh-grade students, and a sample of 81 respondents was determined using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error through simple random sampling. The learning motivation variable was operationalized using Hamzah B. Uno’s theory, while learning concentration was measured using Slameto’s theory. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using correlational statistical analysis. The findings revealed a positive and significant correlation between learning motivation and learning concentration, indicating that students with higher motivation tended to demonstrate better concentration during learning activities. The novelty of this study lies in examining the relationship between learning motivation and learning concentration, which remains underexplored in Islamic educational contexts, particularly among vocational high school students. This study is expected to contribute theoretically to Islamic educational psychology and practically to the development of more engaging and student-centered learning strategies.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create) learning model in improving students’ learning activeness in Islamic Religious Education at SMP Negeri 1 Purbolinggo. The study employed an experimental method using a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The sample consisted of two eighth-grade classes selected through simple random sampling: an experimental class taught using the RADEC model and a control class taught through conventional methods. The research instrument was a learning activeness questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.82. Data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and pooled variance t-tests. The findings revealed that the RADEC learning model had a significant effect on students’ learning activeness, with a significance value of 0.035 < 0.05. Improvements were observed in students’ critical thinking, discussion participation, problem-solving abilities, and creative idea development. The novelty of this study lies in the implementation of the RADEC model in Islamic Religious Education at the junior high school level, focusing on learning activeness. This study contributes to the development of active, collaborative, and meaningful learning strategies.

Abstract

This research aims to explicitly investigate the differences in learning skills between students with boarding school (pesantren) backgrounds and those from non-boarding environments at MA Walisongo. Adopting a quantitative comparative method, the study sampled 30 students from a population of 130 using purposive sampling techniques. Data acquisition was conducted through a validated learning skills instrument. Following normality and homogeneity assessments, the hypothesis was tested using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a substantial difference in learning competencies between the two groups. These findings confirm the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis, suggesting that a structured educational ecosystem, such as a pesantren, significantly bolsters the development of student learning skills compared to non-boarding settings. The implications of this study highlight the importance of structured learning environments and disciplined educational practices in enhancing students’ learning skills, which may serve as a reference for schools in designing more effective learning support systems.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has created significant challenges for adolescent education, particularly in shaping moral values, spiritual awareness, and responsible social behavior. Adolescents in the digital era are increasingly exposed to unrestricted information, social media influences, and moral degradation, which require educational approaches grounded in strong ethical and religious values. This study aims to analyze the concept of child education in Surah Luqman verses 12–19 according to the interpretation of Ibnu Katsir and to examine its relevance to adolescent education in the digital era. This research employed a qualitative approach using library research methods. The primary data sources consisted of the Qur’an, Tafsir Ibnu Katsir, and various scholarly journals and academic literature related to Islamic education and adolescent development in the digital age. Data were collected through documentation and literature review techniques and analyzed using content analysis. The findings reveal that the educational concepts contained in Surah Luqman verses 12–19 include the values of monotheism education, worship education, moral education, social ethics, patience, humility, and responsibility. These values are highly relevant to adolescent education in the digital era, particularly in developing religious character, self-control, digital ethics, critical thinking, and wise use of technology and social media. The study implies that Qur’anic educational values can serve as an important foundation for building morally responsible and spiritually aware adolescents amid the rapid advancement of digitalization. Furthermore, this research contributes to the development of Islamic education studies and provides practical guidance for parents, educators, and institutions in implementing character education based on Qur’anic teachings in modern society.

Abstract

Religious tolerance is an essential value that must be strengthened in educational environments to foster mutual respect and harmonious social interaction among students. However, students’ understanding of religious tolerance concepts is often limited when learning activities rely solely on conventional teaching methods. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of the case study learning strategy in improving students’ understanding of religious tolerance material in Class IX C at SMP Islam Annur’ain. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted over three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The participants consisted of 28 students of Class IX C. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, documentation, and learning outcome assessments. The findings showed that the application of the case study learning strategy significantly increased students’ comprehension of religious tolerance concepts, encouraged active participation, improved critical thinking skills, and fostered respectful attitudes toward differences in religious beliefs. Students demonstrated better abilities in analyzing social issues related to tolerance and proposing appropriate solutions within real-life contexts. The study implies that the case study learning strategy can serve as an effective and contextual approach in Islamic education learning, particularly in strengthening students’ social and moral values. Future studies are recommended to apply this strategy in broader educational settings and different learning subjects to examine its effectiveness more comprehensively.

Abstract

Religious character development is a crucial issue in Islamic education, particularly amid the growing challenges of moral degradation, weak worship discipline, and the influence of digital culture on students’ behavior. This study aims to analyze the strategies for fostering students’ religious character through the boarding school program at Ma’had Kyai Ageng Hasan Besari, MTsN 1 Ponorogo, as well as to identify its implications, supporting factors, and inhibiting factors. This research employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving boarding school caregivers, teachers, musyrif or musyrifah, and students. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that religious character development was implemented through three main strategies: worship habituation, guidance and advice, and religious environmental conditioning. These strategies were realized through structured programs such as congregational prayer, Qur’an recitation and memorization, evening diniyah classes, muhadharah, KOSERI, and daily discipline formation in the boarding environment. The program had positive implications for students’ worship discipline, responsibility, independence, obedience to rules, and social morality. The success of the program was supported by family involvement, active caregivers, positive peer interaction, and students’ personal commitment, while the main obstacles included uncontrolled mobile phone use, overlapping school and boarding schedules, and students’ adaptation difficulties. The study implies that boarding school programs in state madrasahs can serve as an effective religious character education ecosystem when supported by systematic habituation, exemplary guidance, consistent supervision, and stronger coordination between schools, boarding managers, and families.

Abstract

Indiscipline, low self-confidence, and limited creativity remain critical challenges in character education within Islamic boarding schools, requiring structured programs that can strengthen students’ moral, communicative, and creative capacities. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Muhadharah Program in improving students’ disciplinary and creative character at Pondok Pesantren Salafiyah Wustho Hasan Munadi Ponorogo, examine its role in character formation, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, direct observations, and documentation involving school leaders, teachers, program supervisors, and students. The data were analyzed through coding, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation used to strengthen data validity. The findings show that the Muhadharah Program is implemented as a compulsory flagship activity conducted every Saturday through a rotating class-based schedule. The program fosters students’ discipline through punctuality, task responsibility, preparation, and compliance with activity procedures, while creativity is developed through speech writing, public speaking practice, language variation, storytelling, and expressive delivery. Supporting factors include competent educators, consistent program implementation, a conducive pesantren environment, students’ internal motivation, and adequate facilities, whereas inhibiting factors include low student interest, shyness, limited time allocation, monotonous learning habits, and insufficient creativity-oriented support. The study implies that a structured and sustainable Muhadharah Program can serve as a practical character education model for Islamic educational institutions in strengthening students’ discipline, creativity, confidence, and communication skills.

Abstract

The expansion of social media has reshaped Islamic preaching practices and created new spaces for adolescents to encounter religious messages. This study investigates the influence of digital da'wah content on the Instagram account @husein_hadar on adolescent religiosity. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted with 90 adolescents aged 12-21 years who actively used Instagram and had accessed or followed the account. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling, and data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring exposure to digital da'wah content and religiosity. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation, simple linear regression, and the coefficient of determination with SPSS. The results show a positive and statistically significant relationship between exposure to @husein_hadar's da'wah content and adolescent religiosity (r = 0.372, p < 0.001). Regression analysis further indicates that digital da'wah content significantly predicts adolescent religiosity (B = 0.432, β = 0.372, t = 3.759, p < 0.001). However, the coefficient of determination shows that the model explains 13.8% of the variance in religiosity, indicating a modest but meaningful contribution. These findings suggest that Instagram-based da'wah can function as a complementary medium for strengthening religious understanding and practice among adolescents, although religiosity remains shaped by broader family, educational, and social contexts. The study contributes empirical evidence to digital da'wah scholarship and highlights the need for more dialogical, contextual, and youth-oriented religious communication strategies.
