Abstract

A comprehensive literature review to investigate halal and Islamic businesses in sustainable tourism destinations. The study focuses on a growing but fragmented literature linking halal tourism, Islamic entrepreneurship, MSME innovation, digital capacity, community empowerment, and sustainable destination competitiveness. Although halal tourism has received increasing academic attention, previous studies have largely focused on the tourist experience, halal attributes, Islamic marketing, certification, and sustainability as separate themes, so the entrepreneurial mechanisms underlying sustainable halal tourism have not been satisfactorily synthesized. This study uses a systematic literature review technique complemented by bibliometric and thematic analysis of Scopus indexed articles. According to the data, research on halal and Islamic entrepreneurship in sustainable tourism destinations increased between 2017 and 2025 with Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand making significant contributions. Based on thematic analysis, the main topics include sustainability, tourism development, innovation, community-based tourism, and sustainable entrepreneurship, while halal and Islamic entrepreneurship are still underrepresented in mainstream sustainable tourism research. The study concludes that halal and Islamic entrepreneurship should be positioned not only as business activities in accordance with religious teachings, but also as an ethical and entrepreneurial ecosystem that connects Islamic values, MSME innovation, digital transformation, community empowerment, halal assurance, and sustainable destination governance. This research contributes by presenting a comprehensive research agenda to expand halal tourism as a model for inclusive destination development.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the key technologies driving digital transformation in various sectors, including tourism entrepreneurship. Although research on AI continues to grow, studies that specifically map its development, applications, benefits, and challenges in tourism entrepreneurship remain relatively limited. Therefore, this study aims to systematically review the literature on AI in tourism entrepreneurship using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach combined with bibliometric analysis. Research data were obtained from the Scopus database, covering the period 2020–2026. The article selection process follows PRISMA 2020 guidelines, and bibliometric analysis is conducted using VOSviewer to map publication trends, author collaboration networks, and relationships among keywords. The results show that publications on AI in entrepreneurship have increased significantly in recent years, with contributions from developed countries and journals focusing on innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. Keyword analysis identified that the most studied AI applications include machine learning, natural language processing, chatbots, and generative AI such as ChatGPT. In addition, AI has been proven to deliver benefits such as increased operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, service personalization, and business model innovation. However, its implementation still faces challenges, including limited digital competencies, high investment costs, and data security and privacy issues. This research provides a comprehensive understanding of the development and direction of AI research in tourism entrepreneurship and offers a research agenda to support the digital transformation of the tourism sector in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of price, product quality, and brand image on purchasing decisions for OMG (Oh My Glam) cosmetic products among Generation Z in Lamongan District. The study uses a quantitative approach with explanatory research to analyze the relationship between the variables studied. The research sample consisted of 100 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires with a Likert scale and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method based on Partial Least Square (PLS) with the help of SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results of the study indicate that partially, price has a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions. Meanwhile, product quality shows a negative and insignificant influence on purchasing decisions. Brand image is proven to have a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions. In addition to partial testing, the analysis results also show that price, product quality, and brand image simultaneously have a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions for OMG (Oh My Glam) cosmetic products among Generation Z in Lamongan Sub-district.

Abstract

Guest satisfaction is a key indicator of service success in the hospitality industry, where waiter service quality plays a crucial role in creating positive customer experiences. This study aims to examine the influence of waiter service quality on guest satisfaction at the Atsari Parapat Hotel Restaurant. A quantitative approach with an associative research design was employed to analyze the relationship between the variables. The sample consisted of 80 hotel guests selected through purposive sampling based on the criterion that respondents had received direct waiter service. Data were collected using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire that met validity and reliability requirements, with all items declared valid and Cronbach’s Alpha values exceeding 0.70. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The findings revealed the regression equation Y = 30.135 + 3.228X, indicating that waiter service quality has a positive effect on guest satisfaction. The t-test result showed a t-value of 5.157, exceeding the t-table value of 1.99085, with a significance level of 0.000 (<0.05), confirming a significant relationship. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.754 indicates that waiter service quality explains 75.4% of the variation in guest satisfaction, while the remaining 24.6% is influenced by other factors. The study concludes that improving waiter competencies, service standards, and supporting facilities is essential for enhancing guest satisfaction and strengthening customer loyalty in the hospitality industry.

Abstract

Tourism villages have become a strategic approach to promoting sustainable rural development in Indonesia. However, many villages continue to face limited digital capabilities, restricted market access, and inadequate community empowerment despite the growing adoption of digital technologies. Existing studies mainly emphasize the promotional and economic functions of digital platforms while overlooking their contribution to multidimensional community empowerment. This study investigates how the Godevi digital marketplace, through its Sustainability, Empowerment, and Entrepreneurship (SEE) framework, enhances community empowerment in Sayan Tourism Village, Bali, and develops a Digital Tourism Village Community Empowerment Typology. A descriptive qualitative case study was conducted using in-depth interviews, field observations, focus group discussions, and document analysis involving representatives of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), village government, village-owned enterprises, tourism operators, and Godevi management. The findings indicate that Godevi serves not only as a digital marketplace but also as a sociopreneurial platform that strengthens economic, social, psychological, and political empowerment. The SEE framework supports sustainable tourism product development, improves community capacity through participatory governance, enhances digital entrepreneurship, reinforces cultural identity and social cohesion, and increases local involvement in tourism decision-making. Based on these findings, this study proposes a Digital Tourism Village Community Empowerment Typology that integrates the SEE framework with multidimensional community empowerment. This typology advances digital tourism scholarship by providing a systematic framework for explaining how digital platforms facilitate community-centred tourism development and offers practical guidance for policymakers, tourism village managers, and sociopreneurs in implementing inclusive and sustainable digital transformation.
