Abstract

For the sake of tourism recovery during the post-pandemic period, a storynomic promotion strategy is currently being developed by Indonesian government, and is considered effective in triggering the curiosity and visiting interest of tourists. This study aims to identify the role of storynomics as a moderating variable in strengthening motivation and interest to visit the Tebing Tegallinggah Temple site in Bedulu village, Gianyar, Bali. First, storytelling stories were collected through field research by interviewing selected informants, as well as randomly distributing questionnaires. Second, historical data and documentation were classified and analyzed qualitatively, while respondents' answers were assessed using Smart PLS. Third, the results of data analysis are presented through narrative descriptions supported by tables and figures for visualization. The results showed that motivation and storynomic had a less significant effect on the visiting interest of the respondents, most of whom were young. This research is expected to speed up the tourism recovery as well as to contribute to the sustainability of archaeological heritage as special interest tourist destination in Gianyar regency in particular and Indonesia in general.

Abstract

Applying the CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment Sustainability) health protocol is a new practice that initially received a light rejection from the community, including when visiting tourist attractions during the pandemic Covid-19. This article aims to identify the application of CHSE, identify the effect of its application on tourist loyalty and identify local cultural interventions through the involvement of customary village security guard of ‘pecalang’ on the effect of the application of CHSE on tourist loyalty. This article used a quantitative approach, with data analysis techniques using quantitative descriptive and Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The results showed that the implementation of CHSE was carried out well, with an average rating of 4.09 (good), and had a positive and significant effect on tourist loyalty. The involvement of ‘pecalang’ certainly contributes to the implementation of CHSE in tourist attractions, but the uncontrolled involvement of ‘pecalang’ can reduce tourist loyalty.

Abstract

This article analyzes the footsteps of multiculturalism in North Bali by using as the object of analysis the Pura Pabean (Custom Temple) which is upheld by Hindus and Confucians. The analysis focuses on four things, the first, namely: describing the history of the founding of the Pabean Temple; the second regarding the form and function of the traces of multiculturalism in the Pabean Temple; the third the trace of multiculturalism in Pabean temple; and the fourth being the contribution of Pabean Temple in building multiculturalism in Bali. This study is a qualitative study whose data were collected using observation, interview, and literature review techniques. The data were analyzed using the theory of multiculturalism. The results of the analysis show that the Pabean Temple, which is believed to have been established in the 15th century, is historical evidence of multiculturalism that has been going on for a long time in Bali. This is also with the existence of two sacred buildings side by side in one temple area that is upheld, even though they are residents with different beliefs, namely Hinduism and Kong Hu Chu. This article provides a new contribution to the history and dynamics of multiculturalism that is maintained in Bali, especially from a temple called Pura Pabean in North Bali.

Abstract

Many public and organizational programs achieve technical success, regulatory compliance, and high budget absorption, yet fail to sustain outcomes once external support ends, as prevailing evaluation frameworks emphasize outputs over sustainability. This gap reflects the absence of an integrated perspective on how institutional conditions shape long-term durability. This paper proposes the Panca Datu Logic Framework (PDLF), where panca denotes “five” and datu foundational elements, as a conceptual guide for sustainability evaluation. Using a conceptual-synthetic approach grounded in abductive reasoning, the framework is illustrated through three case-based simulations in Bali: rabies control, community-based turtle conservation, and waste management programs. The PDLF conceptualizes sustainability as an emergent, non-compensatory property arising from alignment among five domains—legal, human, financial, infrastructure, and culture—with culture positioned as an outcome of systemic coherence. The framework offers an analytical lens to explain both program fragility and sustained performance across institutional and geographical gradients spanning local, national, and global contexts.

Abstract

Balinese Arak (an alcoholic beverage) faces structural challenges in governance, market positioning, and brand consolidation despite legalization under Bali Governor Regulation No. 1 of 2020 and production exceeding 4,000 liters per month. Fragmented pricing, inconsistent quality, and weak brand governance limit its competitiveness in Bali’s hospitality industry, dominated by imported wines and international spirits. This study examines how stakeholder collaboration and governance mechanisms strengthen branding and competitive positioning of Balinese Arak as a heritage-based tourism product. Using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with artisans, cooperatives, government officials, and hospitality actors in Karangasem Regency (a key production center) in East Bali, the findings reveal that regulatory support, cooperative institutionalization, product standardization, and collaborative branding convert cultural legitimacy into competitive advantage. Branding functions as a governance-driven process integrating quality assurance, adaptive innovation, and cross-sector collaboration, enhancing market credibility, hospitality integration, and long-term sustainability within Bali’s tourism economy.
