Abstract

This study aims to describe students' critical thinking ability (CTA) in solving mathematical problems on the topic of fractions based on cognitive styles. The research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method, involving two students from SMPN 2 Takalar as subjects. The instruments used were the GEFT test, a critical thinking ability test, and interview guidelines. The results of the study showed that overall, FI students demonstrated better abilities in analysis, evaluation, and inference compared to FD students. Although both had equal abilities in interpretation, FI students stood out in overall critical thinking ability based on the given indicators. Additionally, FD students were less capable of making conjectures, formulating, and providing reasons for solutions. However, they performed well in manipulating mathematics. Moreover, FD students were unable to draw conclusions and check the validity of arguments. On the other hand, FI students were able to make conjectures, manipulate mathematics, draw conclusions from statements, and check the validity of arguments. Cognitive style is important in critical thinking activities for learning fractions; therefore, students should be given learning opportunities to not remain static in their current cognitive style.

Abstract

This bibliometric analysis investigates trends in publications linking "technology" with "curriculum" over the past five years, focusing on how technology is integrated into the educational curriculum. Utilizing the Dimensions database and VOSviewer visualization tool, this study successfully identified four main clusters: theoretical concepts, practical implementation, technological innovations, and health education. The research findings indicate a need for a curriculum that is flexible and comprehensive and effectively prepares students with academic knowledge, practical skills, and technological abilities to navigate an uncertain future. Moreover, this study highlights the significance of collaboration between educational institutions and the industry sector to maintain the curriculum's relevance to the changing needs of the global job market and ensure students acquire the necessary skills to succeed.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the errors made by Grade XI students of SMA Teknologi Kota Sorong in solving inverse function problems and to identify the factors causing these errors. The approach used is qualitative with a descriptive method, where data were obtained through diagnostic essay tests and observations of 15 students. The analysis results show that students' errors fall into four main categories: conceptual errors at 7%, principal errors at 7%, factual errors, which dominate with a percentage of 47%, and operational errors at 20%. A total of 20% of students were able to answer all questions correctly. The primary causes of errors include a lack of understanding of the basic concept of inverse functions, improper application of formulas, and inaccuracy during calculations. External factors such as ineffective teaching methods and low student motivation further exacerbate the level of errors that occur. This study provides important contributions to the development of more effective learning strategies, helping teachers create a more meaningful mathematics learning process that focuses on students' comprehensive understanding.

Abstract

Mathematics is a subject that has a fundamental role in teaching students to think logically, critically, and analytically. This study aims to improve students' numeracy skills through the jarimatika learning method. This method provides a simple and interesting approach by using fingers as a medium to learn the concept of multiplying numbers 6-9. This type of research is a Quasi Experiment dengan Non-Equivalent Pretest-Posttest Design conducted on 25 fifth-grade students of SDN 24 Sorong City. The results of the analysis show that this method improves students' numeracy skills. The average pre-test score was 57.76 which increased to 77.36 in the post-test with a minimum score that was initially 40 increasing to 48 and a maximum score that was initially 64 increasing to 100. In addition, the average N-gain of 0.4515 shows an increase in the moderate category. The results of this study prove that the jarimatika method is effective in improving students' numeracy skills while offering an alternative approach that is interesting, fun, and interactive.

Abstract

This study aims to understand and describe in depth the conceptual understanding errors in the material of stacked multiplication experienced by class 4C students of SDN 35 Sorong City. The study used a qualitative descriptive method that was carried out naturally in a natural situation without intervention. The subjects of the study were 25 class 4C students, with data collected through tests, interviews, and documentation. The test consisted of five stacked multiplication problems to identify the types of student errors, while the interviews aimed to dig deeper into students' understanding of the material being taught. The results of the study showed that student errors were divided into two types, namely conceptual errors and procedural errors. Conceptual errors mainly occur in long stacked multiplication, where students place numbers and lines incorrectly in the process of working, even though the final result is correct. Meanwhile, procedural errors arise because students do not follow the correct steps in solving long-stacked multiplication. The data analysis found that 60% of students made conceptual errors, while the other 40% made procedural errors. These findings indicate that errors in understanding compound multiplication material are caused by weak mastery of basic concepts, errors in solving steps, and ineffective teaching methods. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to strengthen basic concepts, structured exercises, and more interactive teaching approaches so that students can understand the steps for solving compound multiplication better. This study provides recommendations for teachers to develop more effective learning strategies to improve students' understanding of compound multiplication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the results of mathematics learning on the material of stacked addition in grade 3 of SD Negeri 5 Doom. With a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected through a post-test involving 19 students as samples. The results showed that only 47% of students achieved scores above the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) of 75, while the other 53% were still below the KKM. Factors such as lack of interest in learning, limited learning tools, and minimal family assistance are the main causes of student difficulties. Analysis of the answers shows that low-ability students often make mistakes in understanding questions (Reading comprehension), students with moderate abilities tend to make mistakes in writing answers (Encoding Error), while high-ability students show good mastery. This study recommends the use of interactive learning methods, additional exercises, and intensive assistance from teachers and parents to improve student understanding evenly.

Abstract

Mathematics education in the era of globalization and the Industrial Revolution 4.0 requires an approach that can foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Problem-based learning (PBL) is one of the learning strategies that can stimulate these abilities but requires appropriate learning tools to increase its effectiveness. GeoGebra, as a mathematical visualization tool, can support the implementation of PBL by providing dynamic and interactive simulations of mathematical concepts. This study aims to develop a PBL-based mathematics learning tool supported by GeoGebra to improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts. This type of research is R&D using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. The analysis process is carried out by identifying the needs of device development and analyzing the curriculum, and student characteristics. The design and development stages produce RPS and LKM, which experts have validated and applied to three learning meetings. This study shows valid, practical, and effective results from the devices that have been developed. Based on these results, PBL and GeoGebra-based learning tools can be innovative solutions in mathematics learning to develop critical thinking skills and students' conceptual understanding.
