Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of halaqoh tarbawiyah in shaping the self concept of adolescents at SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Surakarta, Indonesia. Adolescence is a critical phase in identity development, where cultivating a strong self concept is essential. Halaqoh tarbawiyah, a group-based Islamic educational approach, is expected to serve as a medium for nurturing Islamic character in adolescents. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving students, teachers, and halaqoh tarbawiyah facilitators. The findings indicate that halaqoh tarbawiyah plays a significant role in developing adolescents’ self concept through three main aspects: the internalization of Islamic values, the enhancement of self-confidence, and the cultivation of social awareness. Moreover, the halaqoh serves as a safe and supportive space for adolescents to share experiences, participate in discussions, and explore their identities. Therefore, the implementation of halaqoh tarbawiyah in Islamic schools functions as a strategic instrument for strengthening Islamic identity and addressing identity crises during adolescence.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the phenomenon of narcissistic personality from the perspective of the Qur'an using a thematic exegesis (tafsir maudhū‘ī) approach. The focus is on identifying narcissistic traits as reflected in Qur’anic narratives, as well as exploring the Qur’an’s response to such deviant personalities. This qualitative-descriptive research employs a library research method, drawing on primary data from relevant Qur’anic verses interpreted through authoritative exegetical sources such as Tafsir al-Kabir by Fakhruddin al-Razi, Tafsir al-Manar by Muhammad Abduh and Rashid Rida, and Tafsir al-Wasith by Sayyid Tantawi. The findings reveal that narcissistic personality traits—as defined in modern psychology, including an exaggerated sense of self-importance, an excessive need for admiration, and a lack of empathy—are clearly exemplified in figures such as Iblis, Pharaoh, Qarun, and segments of the Children of Israel. The Qur’an strongly condemns such behaviors as they contradict the core values of tawhid (monotheism) and human dignity. As a spiritual remedy, the Qur’an offers the concept of tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul), which involves three stages: takhalli (removal of blameworthy traits), tahalli (adornment with virtuous morals), and tajalli (manifestation of divine awareness within the self). These findings indicate that the Qur’an not only diagnoses deviant personality traits but also provides a holistic path of psychological and spiritual healing. This study contributes to the development of thematic Qur’anic interpretation and opens new avenues for integrating Islamic knowledge with contemporary psychological thought.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the extent to which the values of Islamic economic education influence the development of MSMEs within the modern economic system to achieve sustainable development in Samarinda City. The method employed is descriptive qualitative with content analysis of secondary data obtained through a review of national scientific journals, news reports, and data from the Central Statistics Agency. The results show that the internalization of the values of honesty, justice, responsibility, and sustainability in MSME practices enhances competitiveness, innovation, and digital inclusion, thereby supporting sustainable local economic growth. The synergistic interaction between Islamic economic education, government support, and digitalization encourages Samarinda's MSMEs to transform into resilient modern business actors. Recommendations are made for policymakers to strengthen the Islamic economics curriculum, expand access to sharia financing, and accelerate digitalization and halal certification as instruments for sustainability.

Abstract

Globalization and digitalization have significantly transformed the educational landscape, presenting both opportunities and challenges for contemporary learning systems. As education becomes increasingly interconnected, it demands a balance between technological innovation and the preservation of cultural and moral values. This study aims to analyze how Islamic education can adapt and innovate through digitalization to respond to global challenges while maintaining its moral and spiritual foundations. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method through an in-depth literature review and analysis of digital practices implemented in Islamic educational institutions. The findings reveal that the strategic integration of digital technology with Islamic values enhances the quality of learning, administrative efficiency, and student engagement. Tools such as artificial intelligence, online platforms, and virtual classrooms support personalized learning and improve institutional performance. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of performance management, teacher digital competence, and ethical use of technology to ensure the sustainability of quality Islamic education in the digital era. With appropriate adaptation, innovation, and value-based digital transformation, Islamic education can remain relevant, competitive, and progressive amidst rapid global change.

Abstract

The enhancement of emotional and spiritual intelligence among students presents a significant challenge in education today. One of the methods believed to significantly contribute to the development of both aspects is the duration of Qur'an memorization. However, there has been limited research specifically examining the effect of the duration of Qur'an memorization on emotional and spiritual intelligence, particularly in formal and non-formal educational settings. This study aims to examine the impact of the duration of Qur'an memorization on emotional and spiritual intelligence among students at Muhammadiyah Junior High School 1 Surakarta and Darul Ihsan Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School in Sragen. The research method employed is a quantitative approach with simple linear regression analysis to assess the relationship between memorization duration and both intelligence variables. The results show that the duration of Qur'an memorization has a significant influence on both emotional and spiritual intelligence, with a very large contribution at Muhammadiyah Junior High School 1 Surakarta (R² = 99.6% for emotional intelligence and R² = 99.7% for spiritual intelligence). At Darul Ihsan Islamic Boarding School, the duration of memorization significantly contributed to spiritual intelligence (R² = 97.4%), but its influence on emotional intelligence was only partially significant. The implications of these findings highlight the importance of integrating the Tahfidz program into the educational curriculum for character development and the need for enriched teaching methods in Islamic boarding schools to deepen students' emotional and spiritual intelligence.

Abstract

This study addresses the underexplored global patterns in research on Islam and morality, which has been fragmented across various academic disciplines. The central problem lies in the absence of a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the existing literature, leaving gaps in understanding the volume, thematic distribution, and geographical trends in the field. The objective of this research is to systematically map the academic output on Islam and morality by employing a bibliometric approach, focusing on the publications indexed in Scopus between 2015 and 2025. The methodology involves three stages: a literature review, a database search for relevant articles, and an in-depth analysis of publication trends, authorship, and thematic connections using tools like RStudio and VOSviewer. The findings indicate a substantial increase in research output from 2015 to 2024, with a notable peak in 2024, signaling a growing interest in the subject. Key thematic areas that emerged from the network analysis include morality, Islamic law, ethics, and gender, demonstrating the interdisciplinary nature of the field. The study also highlights a dominance of certain countries like Indonesia, the United States, and Turkey in contributing to the literature. The results suggest that Islam and morality are gaining importance not only in religious studies but also in bioethics, social sciences, and gender studies. The implications of this research stress the need for further exploration of underrepresented topics, such as sustainability and bureaucracy, and call for increased global collaboration to bridge knowledge gaps.

Abstract

Evaluasi pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) menghadapi tantangan kompleks dalam mengukur ketercapaian kompetensi yang mencakup ranah kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik secara holistik. Kesenjangan antara konsep ideal dan praktik evaluasi menunjukkan dominasi pendekatan kognitif dengan pengabaian dimensi afektif dan psikomotorik yang dinilai superfisial tanpa instrumen terstandar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan konsep skor dan skala pengukuran dalam evaluasi pendidikan, menganalisis implementasinya pada ketiga ranah pembelajaran PAI, mengidentifikasi tantangan yang dihadapi guru, serta merumuskan solusi strategis untuk meningkatkan kualitas evaluasi. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif melalui studi kepustakaan dengan menelaah literatur primer dan sekunder mencakup buku teks, jurnal ilmiah, artikel penelitian, dan dokumen kebijakan pendidikan yang dianalisis menggunakan teknik content analysis. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa empat jenis skala pengukuran—nominal, ordinal, interval, dan rasio—memiliki karakteristik dan aplikasi berbeda pada setiap ranah pembelajaran. Ranah kognitif menggunakan skala interval melalui tes tertulis, ranah afektif menerapkan skala ordinal dengan instrumen skala Likert dan observasi, sedangkan ranah psikomotorik menggunakan skala ordinal atau rasio melalui rubrik penilaian praktik ibadah. Implementasi evaluasi menghadapi empat tantangan utama: subjektivitas penilai pada ranah afektif dan psikomotorik, keterbatasan kompetensi guru dalam menyusun instrumen valid dan reliabel, keterbatasan waktu dan energi untuk evaluasi menyeluruh, serta kesulitan menyusun instrumen sesuai karakteristik PAI. Untuk mengatasi problematika tersebut, diperlukan lima solusi strategis terintegrasi meliputi pelatihan berkelanjutan tentang Formative Assessment Literacy, pengembangan instrumen evaluasi komprehensif yang mengintegrasikan penilaian guru-sejawat-diri sendiri, kolaborasi dengan ahli evaluasi, penerapan teknologi digital dalam manajemen evaluasi, serta refleksi dan umpan balik melalui komunitas pembelajaran profesional. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi teoretis dalam memperkaya khazanah evaluasi pembelajaran PAI dan kontribusi praktis bagi peningkatan literasi evaluasi guru serta pengembangan sistem evaluasi yang objektif, valid, dan komprehensif.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of the YouTube platform as a digital learning innovation in an effort to empower Islamic families based on the values of the Qur'an and analyze the level of effectiveness and impact it has on Muslim families. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to understand the experiences and perceptions of audiences in accessing Islamic family education content through the YouTube platform. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews and questionnaires with active YouTube audiences, and supported by literature studies and digital content analysis. The results of the study show that the YouTube platform functions not only as a da'wah medium, but also as a digital learning space that enables the process of internalizing the values of the Qur'an continuously in family life. The content is presented systematically, argumentatively and applicatively and there are YouTube features such as replays, playlists, comment columns and live streaming that encourage independent, flexible and participatory learning. The questionnaire findings show a very high level of acceptance of YouTube as a digital learning innovation, with all respondents feeling the benefits and positive changes in family life. So that the YouTube platform contributes to strengthening religious understanding, awareness of the role of the family and the resilience of Muslim families who are able to contribute to realizing efforts to empower Islamic families based on the values of the Qur'an.

Abstract

Morality is a fundamental component in shaping students’ character and is influenced by key social environments, particularly the family and the school. In the era of digital transformation, various technological innovations not only support learning processes but also shape students’ behavioral patterns and moral development through their interactions in digital spaces. This study aims to identify the determinants of students’ moral formation and to critically examine the role of digital innovations in constructing their moral values. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design at SMA Muhammadiyah Special Program Surakarta, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis to map the dynamics of technological influence on student behavior. The findings indicate that digital platforms such as the PK Best Learning web-based application and the E-Learning system contribute to strengthening discipline, responsibility, and learning regularity through structured assignments, progress monitoring, and systematic learning interactions. Nevertheless, uncontrolled digital exposure poses potential risks of behavioral deviation, highlighting the urgency of digital literacy and sustained collaboration between schools and parents as strategic factors in ensuring the internalization of moral values aligned with Islamic educational principles.

Abstract

This research aims to profoundly analyze the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in fostering digital tolerance and its integration with the fundamental values derived from the Qur’anic verses. The research employs a library research (literature review) methodology, utilizing a philosophical approach to examine the concepts of tolerance and the ethical implementation of technology. The primary data source is Abdul Mu’ti book, “Authentic Tolerance” complemented by various relevant secondary source. Tolerance is defined as the attitude of accepting and respecting differences across religion, ethnicity, race, and life perspectives. The attitude plays a crucial role in creating peace and stability within pluralistic societies. The relevance of this concept extends from daily social interactions to the rapidly evolving digital era. Communication technology, especially social media, serves as a platform bringing together individuals from various backgrounds, promoting mutual understanding and harmonious relationships. In this context, digital tolerance becomes essential and can be realized through the use of AI as a means to anhance inclusive religious awareness and promote tolerant attitude. Islam emphatically teaches the importance of tolerance, reflected in the Qur’anic teachings that encourage respect for diversity (ikhtilaf) and freedom of religion. In the digital landscape, the wise use of technology is strongly emphasized to prevent the spread of conflict triggering information, and crucically, to prioritize the principle of tabayyun (verification/clarification) to ensure informational truth. The findings of this study indicate that AI can be effectively utilized as an information filter and a content recommendation system designed based on the values of moderation and harmony. Specifically, the ethical values from the Qur'an, such as the principle of ta'aruf (mutual knowing) and the divine words lakum dinukum waliyadin (to you is your religion, and to me is my religion), serve as the primary philosophical foundation for designing humanistic and tolerant AI architecture and algorithms. This methodological integration is achieved through a comparative study and deep interpretation of contemporary AI concepts and relevant Qur'anic principles, culminating in the formulation of a framework for digital tabayyun and responsible digital ethics. Therefore, building tolerance in both real and digital spaces requires a collective effort that prioritizes the values of mutual respect and shared responsibility.
