Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of the Canva platform as a medium for Indonesian language learning in poetry writing skills for grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 34 Surabaya, including the form of Canva's use in learning, learning planning by educators, and student involvement and responses. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects consisted of one Indonesian language teacher and twenty-seven grade VIII students. Data were collected through observation, directed interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions with data validity tests using method triangulation. The results of the study indicate that Canva is used as a learning medium from the planning stage, material delivery, to giving project-based assignments. The use of Canva can help visualize poetry material, stimulate imagination, and increase student activity and creativity in writing poetry. However, obstacles such as dependence on the internet network and potential design uniformity are still found. Overall, Canva plays a role as an innovative and relevant learning medium in teaching poetry writing skills at SMP Negeri 34 Surabaya.

Abstract

This study aims to find, describe, and analyze the forms and functions of directive speech acts used by teachers in the Indonesian language learning process at SMP Negeri 4 Bukittinggi. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The research data are in the form of teacher and student speech during learning activities, which are obtained through the technique of free listening and conversation (SBLC), recording, and taking notes. The results of the study indicate that there are five types of directive speech acts used by teachers, namely (1) ordering or commanding, (2) requesting, (3) demanding, (4) suggesting, and (5) challenging. Of the five types, ordering or commanding speech acts are the most dominant form used, which is around 60-65% of the total data, while the challenging type is the least used form, around 5%. The dominance of the command form shows that teachers play an important role in directing and controlling the learning process. In addition, the use of other directive forms helps create an active, communicative, polite, and meaningful classroom atmosphere. These findings demonstrate that teachers are able to balance authority and politeness, enabling directive speech acts to play a crucial role in building effective educational communication and supporting the success of the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to improve Indonesian language learning outcomes in early reading and writing through the use of syllable wheel media assisted by the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model for 27 students of grade 1A of SD Inpres Maumere. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Kemmis & McTaggart model design implemented in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed an increase in learning completeness from the pre-cycle to the second cycle. The average student score increased from 65.89 in the pre-cycle with a classical completeness of 37%, to 68.96 in the first cycle with a completeness of 63%, and increased again in the second cycle to 80.51 with a completeness of 80.51%. Thus, it meets the success indicators. In addition to learning outcomes, aspects of student attitudes and skills also improved through the syllable poster project activity. In the pre-cycle, only 13 students were active, increasing to 20 students in the first cycle, and reaching 25 students in the second cycle. Overall, the implementation of the syllable wheel media supported by the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model has proven effective in improving the learning outcomes, skills, and activeness of grade 1A students at SD Inpres Maumere. Project-based, student-centered learning involving visual media provides a more meaningful learning experience for younger students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of work motivation among non-formal teachers, focusing on the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that influence their motivation and performance. The method used is a systematic literature review (SLR), which examines relevant articles from various sources related to the work motivation of non-formal teachers. The results of the study indicate that intrinsic motivation, such as satisfaction in teaching and the feeling of contributing to the development of students, plays a major role in increasing the commitment and teaching quality of non-formal teachers. Extrinsic motivation, such as awards and incentives, also provides additional encouragement, although in the long term, its influence is more limited. Leadership that supports teacher autonomy, work experience, and social support among colleagues were found to play an important role in strengthening teacher work motivation. Psychological factors, including emotional regulation, also play a role in maintaining motivation even when faced with stress. This study makes an important contribution to understanding the dynamics of non-formal teachers' work motivation and its implications for non-formal education management.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the results of research related to mathematics learning using comics or e-comics to improve students' mathematical literacy. The research method used is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The article search process utilized the Harzing's Publish or Perish application and the research data source came from the Google Scholar platform with a publication range of 2021-2025. The literature screening process used the PRISMA 2020 guidelines which include the identification, screening, and inclusion stages. The results show that research related to the application of comic media in mathematics learning to improve students' mathematical literacy has received quite good attention in recent years. This is further evidenced by the increase in research in 2025, where research is mostly conducted at the junior high school level with the most frequently chosen subject matter being geometry and algebra. The most research was conducted in Java and Sumatra. The most widely used research method is the development method (Research and Development) with digital comics as the most frequently chosen media type. Mathematics learning using comic media is effective for improving students' mathematical literacy.

Abstract

This study compares the impact of demonstration and experimental methods on the science process skills of elementary school students, covering abilities such as observing, classifying, and communicating. Using a sample of 74 students divided into two equal groups, data were collected through evaluation tests, questionnaires, and observations. Research instruments measured skills before and after the intervention, with data analyzed via statistical tests. Results from the independent t-test yielded a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.675 ($p > 0.05$), indicating no significant difference in science process skills between students taught using the demonstration method versus the experimental method. Despite the lack of statistical significance, the demonstration method produced slightly higher average scores, with a mean difference of 0.34. Both methods offer distinct advantages depending on student learning styles. In conclusion, while both approaches effectively support science process skills, the demonstration method showed a marginal superiority in this specific context.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of Career Development, Work Environment, and Ethical Leadership on Employee Loyalty, with Job Satisfaction as a mediating variable among private school teachers. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 127 private school teachers and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS. The validity and reliability tests indicated that all constructs met the required criteria, except for one indicator of the Work Environment variable, which was excluded from the model. The results show that Career Development and Ethical Leadership have a positive and significant effect on Job Satisfaction, while Work Environment does not significantly affect Job Satisfaction. Furthermore, Work Environment and Job Satisfaction have a positive and significant effect on Employee Loyalty, whereas Career Development and Ethical Leadership do not have a direct effect on Employee Loyalty. Job Satisfaction is proven to mediate the effects of Career Development and Ethical Leadership on Employee Loyalty, but it does not mediate the effect of Work Environment on Employee Loyalty. In conclusion, Job Satisfaction plays a critical role in strengthening teacher loyalty and linking Employee Value Proposition dimensions to Employee Loyalty.

Abstract

Culture is a dynamic construct that evolves alongside the changing needs of human life. This study seeks to foster cultural awareness among the Sumbanese people regarding the importance of recognizing and empowering women to define their own identities. The aim is to advocate for women's rights within the Sumbanese cultural framework, striving for a more just and egalitarian society. Employing a qualitative ethnographic approach, this research explores the role of local knowledge in shaping social behavior. The findings reveal that, at its core, Sumbanese culture holds deep respect for women, who are seen as moral agents with strong integrity. Moral intelligence, the capacity to distinguish right from wrong, significantly influences individuals’ commitment to integrity and their willingness to challenge cultural norms that marginalize women. The Legend of Mata Likku serves as a powerful expression of local wisdom that can be reinterpreted to catalyze cultural change and dismantle patriarchal systems in Sumbanese society
