Jurnal Ilmu Informasi, Perpustakaan, dan Kearsipan (JIPK), translated as the Information, Library and Archive Science Journal, is a journal published by the Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (ISSN 1411-0253 and E-ISSN 2502-7409). Abstract

Batik is a work of visual art in the form of traditional clothing, and intangible cultural heritage has become an inseparable part of the daily life of the Indonesian people. One of the motives is the famous Rifa'iyah batik with a pattern inspired by the teachings of Sheikh Ahmad Rifa'i which shows evidence of the beliefs, deeds, and identity of Sheikh Ahmad Rifa'i's followers. In this study, the author aims to discuss Batik Rifa'iyah as a document using conceptual analysis based on document theory such as the concept of meaningful, indexicality, and documents as a broader system to explore the meaning contained in Batik Rifa'iyah styles. This study provides an alternative understanding of batik cloth, especially batik rifa'iyah which is not limited to cloth and visual arts but also provides an in-depth analysis of how to treat colors, shapes, and patterns as documents that refer to the daily life of the Rifa'iyah people. This research also extends the use of document theory in analyzing various information objects in the neodocumentation movement tradition. The results show that batik rifa'iyah has enriched our view of documents, which are symbolic representations, not only expressed through words that have long been known, but lines, colors, and shapes are indeed essential things of a document.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors of organizational communication climate in fostering knowledge sharing in Daniel S. Lev library which is a special library of law and political literature. This study was examined using the dimensions of organizational communication climate that was coined by Charles W. Redding, wherein the concept there are five values; supportiveness, participation in decision making, trust and reliability, openness, and high-performance goals. This is qualitative research using the case study method. The informants of this research are the Head of the Library and all library staff. The results of this study indicate that the five values of the Redding communication climate dimension contribute to fostering knowledge sharing activities in the Daniel S. Lev library. Knowledge sharing activities that have grown include weekly meetings, reports, activity presentations, publications, mentoring, and sharing while working. The value of openness and the value of high-performance goals become the dominant values.

Abstract

The library is an information source institution that can meet the needs of library materials for the community. Different groups of people have different needs for library materials. This study aims to determine the needs of user library materials at the Bung Karno National Library UPT during the Covid-19 pandemic. This type of quantitative research uses descriptive research methods. The sampling technique used probability sampling with accidental sampling technique and obtained a sample of 50 respondents. Researchers collect research data through observation, questionnaires and literature study. The results of this study, that the characteristics of users are predominantly female (80%) and study as a student or college students (88%). The users of the Bung Karno National Library UPT used more information that was classified in the general collection. The reason users need information to add insight into new knowledge about a topic. Especially during a pandemic like today, what happens is that a lot of new things are emerging as innovations to keep all activities running. Although technology has developed rapidly, the source of library materials in the form of books is still an idol among the public because they are considered to have accurate information. Meanwhile, the reasons why UPT Bung Karno National Library users need library materials to help fulfill references in completing school and college assignments are 46%. In the condition of this online-based learning system, students are required to seek more independent references to meet their information needs. From the results of the study, it was also found that there were users who still did not know how to use information retrieval tools such as OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) and also available technology. This is an obstacle in the process of meeting the needs of available library materials.

Abstract

Multimedia technology is a sophisticated computer technology that can process data into interesting and useful information for the community. The Instagram account of @petualanganmenujusesuatu is a content creation account that is focused on mental health awareness. In content deployment, account of @petualanganmenujusesuatu is one account that deploy content by using the elements of multimedia technology. This research will identify the use of elements of multimedia technology carried out by the @petualanganmenujusesuatu account. This research is qualitative research with a case study method which data collection is done by means of observation and interviews. The @petualanganmenujusesuatu account applies all elements of multimedia technology to distributes the content. Content about mental health is in the form of storytelling through comic strips and characters. The results of this research indicate that the @petualanganmenujusesuatu account uses all multimedia elements in every content that is distributed on its account. The elements of multimedia technology that form the basis of the content are images and some animated videos combined with text and audio.

Abstract

The library transformation based on social inclusion has a significant impact on librarians in developing, and improving the quality of the community life. This study focuses on the perceptions of librarians at Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Maluku regarding the strategy for implementing the library transformation based on the aspects of Connectivity, Content, and Human. The type of research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Techniques of data collecting used observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed by using Miles and Huberman’s techniques (1992). The results show that it has not been maximally implementation related to the three aspects, namely (1) Connectivity: there is not enough service space available to support the needs of users; unavailable of Wi-Fi; the hours of library services have not been adjusted to the needs of users; inconsistently in evaluating user satisfaction. (2) Content: procurement of new library materials has not been carried out; lack of knowledge in using digital collections; library socialization has not been maximized. (3) Human: there is no equal distribution of education and training for librarians not expanded the partnership network yet. The strategy, which the librarians need are: enriching their knowledge in library services and promotions; evaluate user satisfaction as well as attending various trainings to increase themselves.

Abstract

The Implementation of record management through Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) that functions to provide systematic and computerized information that can be used to identify risks. EDRMS is part of the Business Information System (BIS) that required to carry out business activity to provide efficiency for data retrieval or decision making to support business process running well, minimize the occurrence of risks, and estimate the risks that will be faced. The purpose of this study to analyze the effect of record management, especially EDRMS, through its use and function positively related to risk management in company business process. The research method used was quantitative method by distribution questionnaires the processed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method based on Variance Partial Least Square (PLS) version 3.3.3. The results of this study showed that positive and significant effect between the uses of EDRMS as an information tool which is an important factor that related with decision making to determine the risks that will faced and how to deal with them. The effect of record management and risk management based on analysis test is 71, 5% on the company’s business processes.

Abstract

The current rapid technological development and the various social restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic are encouraging people to seek out information about their interests on the World Wide Web, specifically on social media. Taking into account the virality of TikTok as a social media platform amongst young people, this research aims to explore the information seeking behavior of young adults on said application, as well as what sort of hindrance they might come across whilst using TikTok. This descriptive qualitative research is a case study that is done by semi-structured interviews and observations. The data gathered through those methods are then analyzed using Niedźwiedzka’s Information Behavior Model (2003). The results of this research show that the information seeking behavior of young adults on TikTok are in accordance with Niedźwiedzka’s Information Behavior Model. Although, there still appear to be some seemingly interchangeable steps within those activities. This research recommends that both individual users as well as institutional ones, like libraries, to be wiser with the usage of apps such as TikTok and the potential it has to be used as an outreach and promotional tool.

Abstract

The condition of restrictions on community activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the Archives Office at Universities to adjust archive services. COVID-19 disaster preparedness needs to be implemented within the University of Indonesia Archives Office. This study aims to identify the preparedness of the University of Indonesia Archives Office in dealing with the COVID-19 disaster and. This is qualitative research with case study method. The results show that the University of Indonesia Archives Office has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic situation by carrying out various preparedness efforts that are implemented in service activities and archive management. The obstacle faced by staff and leaders during the pandemic is establishing communication and interaction. Based on the results of the study, the suggestion from this research is that the University of Indonesia Archives Office needs to make a post-disaster recovery plan and look for efforts to establish effective communication during the pandemic between staff and leaders.

Abstract

The GDL repository system application has been used by the Politeknik Negeri Bandung (Polban) since 2005 until now and never been done its evaluation. Ideally the application is evaluated and analyzed its system, utilization level and information organization of its features and menus. The purpose of research is to evaluate and discover advantages and disadvantages of Polban Institution Repository Application from the system components and uses, to discover parts of the system required further development to support the dissemination of repository information. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected from observations of the existing repository system and indirect interviews with users. The data were analyzed by triangulation method that compared observation data with the results of interviews. References studies are also concluded to strengthen data analysis. The evaluation reveals the advantages of the repository system, including metadata descriptions still appropriate for users and data exchange using the OAIPMH protocol. As for disadvantages, usage statistics are unavailable. Utilization data of Digilib Polban obtained using Google Analytics. In addition, supporting hardware and software in application operations (for servers) are far behind so that it can affect the accessibility and security of uploaded data.

Abstract

This study tries to provide an overview of how open access scientific books from the OMP-based website at LIPI Press contribute to supporting the means of disseminating knowledge. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection through literature study and observation of the OMP LIPI Press system, Google Analytics, Google Scholar, and Dimensions. The application of OMP as a scientific publishing system provides many benefits, not only in facilitating the editorial flow of publishing, but also in supporting the impact of electronic scientific books in the form of indexes and citations as well as visibility of the institution's website domain. Based on the research results, the OMP system is recommended to become the standard for scientific publishers, both R & D institutions and universities. This urgency is especially for books from research that are funded by public, whose usefulness should be felt by the wider community through open access. The ease and potential of OMP in supporting the impact of electronic scientific books is expected to catch up with OJS which has become the standard for publishing electronic scientific journals in Indonesia.
