Abstract

Rust is a major problem in steel bridge construction because it has the potential to affect the integrity of the structure and is also an important consideration for inspection and maintenance programs. This study shows the results of laboratory tests on the effect of rust within 1 to 9 weeks on fracture toughness as one of the important mechanical properties of steel bridge elements. The specimens in this study were made of SM 490 type, steel commonly used for bridge construction. Rustless and rusted specimens were used with varying degrees of exposure after immersion in acid solution to simulate the rate of rust. The effect of rust rate on fracture toughness due to mass loss was studied. The fracture toughness of each specimen was monitored for those specimens with exposure periods of 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, and 9 weeks to test their effect on toughness. The results of this study showed that there was no significant reduction in the rusting duration of 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, and 9 weeks of fracture toughness. Rusting and testing activity for the long term is still ongoing and will be continued, as the results of this study greatly help bridge designers and asset managers to better model rust inspection and maintenance plans and assess the structural integrity of steel bridges affected by rust more accurately.

Abstract

Abstract The distribution transformer is part of the distribution system, the transformer that is closest to the customer, if there is a problem with this transformer, the customer will immediately feel it. So to ensure the availability of electricity distribution, this transformer requires periodic maintenance and service. Detection of distribution transformers by detecting an imbalance of voltage and oil temperature in the transformer. To get the voltage and current values using the PZEM-004T sensor and for the transformer oil temperature value with a temperature of DS18B20 which will be forwarded to the LCD screen via the Arduino Uno platform. For the average value of the voltage obtained is 65V. this tool successfully reads the output of current, voltage and transformer oil temperature well with an average error of 0.74% at the maximum current reading in phase T. The system can provide information if there is a voltage imbalance, for voltage imbalance the largest error percentage is obtained. in Phase R of 6.31%. The voltage imbalance should not be more than 2.5% so that the voltage value that is read on the R phase exceeds the capacity of the voltage imbalance which causes a voltage imbalance disturbance in the T phase and the display of the value that is read on the LCD will appear the words "Not Normal Voltage" and marked with his life buzzer.

Abstract

Earthquakes that occur in buildings can lead to collision force with the next building if the initial gap between the two buildings is not sufficient for its free vibration responses. Collisions can cause amplification of the internal forces in the structural elements and the collision force on the contact zone is usually not considered in the initial design so that it can lead to damage and collapse of buildings. This study aime to determine the effect of Soil-Structure Interaction in the dilatation of two structures in soft soil with consideration of the collision to the next building. The structure is modeled as a structural system with multi degree of freedom (MDOF). The upper structure is considered linear elastic model and does not have damping as well as the lower structure (foundation). The collision can only occur on the floor level of the two buildings in which the contact zone is modeled as an elastic element. The rheological model for Soil-Structure Interaction are taken as a horizontal spring and a rotational spring. Structural dynamic equations was solved by using the Houbolt integration method. The resolution of numerical program was solved by the Matlab software. The results of study showed that soil-strucutre interaction increases the relative displacement under the condition of initial distance (gap) between the two buildings was reduced.
