Abstract

Nutritional status is an important determinant of overall health and well-being, having a major influence on growth, development, and overall health outcomes. The prevalence of stunting, wasting, and underweight among children in low- and middle-income countries around the world decreased by 29.1%, 6.3%, and 13.7% respectively between 2006 and 2018. For this investigation, PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action Method) is used. A total of 165 people participated in a community outreach initiative conducted in March 2024 at an elementary school located in West Java, Indonesia. Early detection of nutritional status is carried out by taking anthropometric measurements. Nutrition during childhood and adolescence is critical for optimal development, growth, and long-term health. Rapid assessment of nutritional status will facilitate timely interventions aimed at preventing disease and reducing premature mortality

Abstract

The profession of an accountant is one of the many promising occupations in the future that is needed by many companies. Apart from possessing the ability to solve the financial problems of a company, accountants are required to have leadership qualities and integrity in carrying out their tasks. The integrity of an accountant is demonstrated by their objectivity in work, which does not favor any interested party, ensuring the credibility of their work. These skills should be nurtured from an early age. Schools and universities can serve as a means to achieve this, so that training activities can foster students' confidence to work well in the future and be prepared to face the challenges of the workplace and the issues that may arise in the accounting profession.

Abstract

Depok Catering UMKM is one of the UMKMs in Depok, West Java which operates in the field of providing food for homes, schools, offices or other agencies. Depok Catering MSMEs often experience problems in the form of delivering food orders to customers within the given deadline. This is because the condition of the kitchen is untidy, disorganized and workers have low awareness of paying attention to aspects of neatness and order. Workers need more time to look for the cooking utensils they need, cooking utensils that are not cleaned immediately and are left dirty anywhere, or cooking utensils that are placed haphazardly and not in their storage place. This problem causes waste. To overcome one of the wastes, you can use the 5S method. This outreach activity aims to provide understanding and views about the importance of implementing 5S and its positive impact on catering businesses. The questionnaire was given to determine understanding of the 5S Principles. As many as 20% of participants had never heard or knew about the 5S Principles. Socialization activities make workers know, understand and apply the 5S Principles.

Abstract

The realization of self-reliant villages is a crucial pillar in fostering prosperous and competitive communities amid rapid development. Accurate and comprehensive data management of village community organizations (Lembaga Kemasyarakatan Desa, LKD) is essential for informed decision-making, meticulous planning, and effective program implementation. This article discusses the role of Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) in enhancing LKD data collection processes. FGDs serve as an effective method to gather in-depth information and diverse perspectives from stakeholders, facilitating the identification of needs and challenges, formulation of effective data collection strategies, and fostering commitment and collaboration among participants. The outcomes of these FGDs include more accurate and relevant data, enhanced human resource capacities, and improved village self-reliance. This approach underscores the importance of collective effort and strategic planning in achieving genuine village autonomy, leveraging the spirit of cooperation and collaboration to build resilient and thriving communities

Abstract

This study investigated the success of a solid model teaching medium with the theme “My Farm” to enhance the English learning experience among second grade students at MIS Fathul Jannah. This medium addresses the challenge of unevenly distributed educational resources. Thirteen grade 2 students participated in this community service activity. The implementation of the activity involved three stages: preparation (survey, observation, media and material adjustment), implementation (introduction, core activities, ice breaking, and reflection), and evaluation. The results showed that the solid model media fostered active participation, created a fun learning environment, and had a positive impact on the classroom atmosphere. Future research should consider expanding the content coverage and deepening the analysis to obtain more robust data as well as innovative findings.

Abstract

This community service evaluated body composition in men and women of productive age at Kalam Kudus II Senior High School, Duri Kosambi, Jakarta. This community service study included 68 respondents. Measurements were carried out using a body composition scae to assess percentage of total fat, visceral fat, subcutaneous fat and total muscle. The results showed that the 51-64 year age group had the highest percentage of total and visceral fat, while the 18-35 year age group had the highest percentage of total muscle. These findings emphasize the importance of routine body composition monitoring for early detection and appropriate intervention to prevent obesity and metabolic disease. Recommended interventions include a balanced diet, increased physical activity, and health education focused on weight management and healthy body composition. The use of body composition analysis technology can provide more accurate data to support effective and measurable health programs among the productive age group.

Abstract

Depression is a common mental disorder in the elderly, associated with emotional distress, increased health care costs, the risk of suicide, and death from other causes. Depression in the elderly is characterised by persistent sadness, helplessness, anhedonia, changes in appetite, sleep disturbances, psychomotor retardation or agitation, fatigue, impaired concentration, and suicidal ideation. Prevalence varies between 7 and 30%, higher in women. Risk factors include bereavement, social isolation, and somatic diseases, which are more common in old age. Depression increases the risk of dementia, morbidity, and mortality, emphasising the need for early screening. This activity uses the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) method to screen for depression in 61 elderly participants at the Hana Nursing Home using the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) questionnaire. The examination results revealed mild, moderate, and severe depression in 8 people (13.11%), 4 people (6.56%), and 2 people (3.28%), respectively. Early detection using GDS is essential for timely intervention, including counselling and medical advice, to improve quality of life and reduce depression-related morbidity and mortality in the elderly population.
