Abstract

This study explores the strategic efforts of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense to increase public awareness and interest in joining the Reserve Component as part of the Universal People's Defense and Security System (SISHANKAMRATA). Using policy analysis, literature review, and evaluation of communication campaigns, the research examines how outreach strategies—such as media campaigns, educational initiatives, and digital engagement—have impacted public participation. The findings highlight both progress and ongoing challenges, including cultural barriers, inconsistent messaging, and regional disparities. Despite these challenges, efforts to engage the public have yielded some success in raising awareness, though there are still significant gaps in achieving broad participation. The study emphasizes the need for a more coordinated approach to communication, focusing on clear and consistent messaging across regions. It concludes with several policy recommendations aimed at increasing public trust, enhancing outreach effectiveness, and creating sustainable engagement strategies to strengthen the contribution of reserve forces to national defense. These efforts are essential for fostering a well-rounded and resilient defense system in Indonesia.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to map the circular economy potential based on by-products from the livestock and agricultural sectors in Gendro Village, Tutur District, Pasuruan Regency. The method used is a participatory approach (Participatory Rural Appraisal / PRA) through field observations, interviews, and focus group discussions with local farmers and ranchers. The data obtained was analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and qualitatively to identify waste potential, its economic value, and opportunities for integration between sectors. The mapping results showed that out of 17 dairy farmers with a total of 117 cows, the average milk production reached ±2,800 liters per day, while cow manure waste reached 3.5 tons per day. About 60% of farmers have utilized this waste into organic fertilizer or biogas, while the rest is still disposed of into waterways. On the other hand, from 12 farmers with a total land area of 6.6 hectares, the harvest yield was around 90 tons per planting season, with agricultural waste reaching 80 tons. The ratio of waste to crop yield reaches 89%, indicating high potential for processing into value-added products such as compost, liquid fertilizer, and fermented feed. The integration of these two sectors demonstrates a natural closed-loop system at the village level, where agricultural waste can be used as feed, and livestock manure becomes organic fertilizer for agricultural land. The implementation of this circular economy model has the potential to generate additional economic value of IDR 45–60 million per year, reduce production costs by 20–30%, and reduce environmental pollution. Thus, Gendro Village has a great opportunity to be developed as a pilot village for a circular economy based on an integrated agroecosystem that supports food security and environmental sustainability

Abstract

Village Minimum Service Standards (SPM) are provisions regarding the type and quality of basic services that must be received by every citizen as a form of fulfilling the basic rights of village communities. These provisions are clearly regulated in Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2017, which serves as the basis for village governments in providing public services in a measurable and quality manner. This study aims to increase the understanding and awareness of village officials regarding the importance of public services in accordance with government-set standards. In addition, this study also focuses on assisting village officials in the process of preparing SPM documents in Puay Village, East Sentani District, Jayapura Regency. The implementation methods include lectures, question and answer sessions, group discussions, and mentoring activities carried out in several stages. These stages include identifying ongoing service problems, implementing training on SPM principles and indicators, and providing technical assistance in preparing village minimum service standards. The results of the activities indicate that village officials are able to understand and implement services according to established standards. This ability contributes to increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of services to the community, thereby significantly improving the quality of village governance.

Abstract

Lembang Buntu Datu has great natural tourism potential, especially the Buntu Datu Pine Forest area. This area has beautiful scenery, cool air, and charming mountain panoramas, so it has great potential to be developed as a leading tourist destination. However, in the development of the Buntu Datu Pine Forest tourist area, there are still several obstacles such as monotonous and unattractive tourist facilities, lack of lighting in the tourist area, lack of adequate cleaning facilities, and digital promotion that is not optimal. Therefore, observations of environmental conditions around tourism, observation of visitor behavior and community interaction with tourist areas, and in-depth interviews with tourism village managers (BUMDes), MSME actors, community leaders, and tourists to obtain information about what programs can be developed. From these results, in an effort to increase the number of visitors, tourist facilities such as tourist site signs, the creation of photo spots, the provision of garbage cans as supporting facilities, and the cleaning of tourist sites were made. In addition, efforts are also being made to empower the community and increase digital promotion so that the Buntu Datu Pine Forest tourist area is increasingly known and able to attract more tourists.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is the process of creating, developing, and managing a business with the goal of generating profit through products, services, or innovations that meet market needs. The role of entrepreneurship is highly significant, as it greatly contributes to economic growth, social development, and the improvement of societal welfare in a country. The KPEJ GKP Kramat program in Central Jakarta views the enhancement of entrepreneurial spirit among its congregation as an important initiative, particularly in encouraging women to create home-based business opportunities as an alternative means to strengthen their family’s economy. This initiative arises from the fact that interest and participation in entrepreneurship among the congregation remain relatively low. Therefore, the challenge lies in how to foster entrepreneurial spirit and mindset—building the right way of thinking, recognizing and starting a business by understanding opportunities and risks, preparing financial plans, and developing business proposals or business model canvases. This community service activity aims to provide socialization on the importance of developing entrepreneurial spirit and mentality by utilizing available business opportunities for the congregation of GKP Kramat, Central Jakarta. The program is conducted onsite and is expected to have a positive impact by increasing interest and encouraging members to start their own businesses, thereby helping improve their family’s economic well-being.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to enhance the productivity and hygiene of household-scale tempe production by automating soybean dehulling and implementing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), complemented by strengthened business management. The participatory action approach comprised installation and commissioning of a soybean dehulling machine, GMP implementation sessions with MSME partners, and assistance in obtaining the Business Identification Number (NIB). A pre–post evaluation assessed production capacity (kg/day), cycle time and dehulling yield, GMP compliance, and legal status. The machine was installed and operated stably; dehulling cycle time decreased, dehulling yield was high (≥85%), and daily capacity increased from approximately 30–40 kg/day to 80–100 kg/day. Training produced a hygienic SOP that is followed with routinely completed checklists, alongside indications of reduced product defects. The issuance of the NIB strengthened partners’ readiness to access formal markets and government support. These findings affirm that an integrated techno-managerial intervention effectively improves performance and product quality in Tempe production and is suitable for replication, with emphasis on machine fine-tuning and strict adherence to GMP.

Abstract

Mentoring for a roasted kemplang (shrimp cake) business group in Tebing Utara Village focused on increasing production capacity, quality, and product consistency through simple yet effective appropriate technology. The program was implemented in five stages: outreach, training, technology implementation, mentoring and evaluation, and program sustainability. Interventions included the use of dough rolling machines, gas stoves, and freezers to maintain raw material freshness and expedite the production process. Results showed a 150% increase in production capacity, ±90% consistency of kemplang size, and increased partner ability to operate modern equipment independently. Evaluation of product quality through thickness, texture, and simple taste tests demonstrated significant improvements. This approach not only increased production capacity but also strengthened partner independence, encouraged local innovation, and potentially replicated in other traditional food MSMEs. This mentoring program has had a positive impact on local economic development, increased the competitiveness of roasted kemplang products, and provided relevant training for business owners. Furthermore, the use of appropriate technology has shown effective results in increasing productivity without compromising product quality.

This study contains a motivation and needs required by Catholics in neighborhood prayer, one of which is the neighborhood of Mary Mother of God Peniwen. This research was raised because the situation in the neighborhood where many people still find it difficult to participate in leading prayers such as: Word Service, Deepening of Faith, Rosary, and many other prayers. One of the reasons why people have not been able to lead or participate in prayer services in the neighborhood is because they are still hesitant to appear in front of many people, are still afraid of making mistakes, and some have abilities in that field but do not participate in serving duties. So, the purpose of this study is to help describe the real situation experienced by some people in the neighborhood regarding their participation and service in neighborhood prayer. This study uses observation methods and direct interviews in the neighborhood, and is also assisted by many sources from other scientific works. From the results of using this method, the researcher also learned what causes or what reasons so that people have not been able to lead or participate in prayer services in the neighborhood or station. From that, the researcher conducted prayer training needed for the congregation. This will enable the congregation to understand their shortcomings and what God needs to foster and realize participation in prayer ministry in their communities. Abstract

Kesepuhan Sinarresmi has long been recognized for implementing a community-based food resilience system rooted in indigenous customary law. This study on Kesepuhan Sinarresmi aims to analyze the strategy for strengthening food resilience using an in-depth Qualitative Case Study approach. Data was collected through interviews, participant observation, and combined with a review of current literature related to food resilience, customary institutions, and non-military defense. The findings reveal that the food resilience strengthening strategy in Kasepuhan Sinarresmi proves effective through the integration of socio-cultural institutions and ecologically aligned agronomic practices. This food resilience system is sustained by: 1) Customary Institutions governing access and distribution; 2) The Leuit Institution (communal granary) serving as an inter-generational strategic reserve; and 3) The diversification of 68 Local Rice Varieties, which enhances resilience against crop failure and climate change. This model affirms the principle of community food sovereignty and functions as a robust logistical system, simultaneously serving as a best practice for non-military national defense.Based on the study conducted in Kesepuhan Sinarresmi, it is recommended that the Indigenous Community food reserve system be formally recognized and integrated into a policy framework. This is proposed as a strategic effort to strengthen national resilience against crises
