Abstract

The objective of this study is to ascertain the correlation between environmental factors and the rehabilitation of cocoa plantations in Nelombu Village, Mowewe District, East Kolaka Regency. The study population consists of 26 active cocoa farmers residing in Nelombu Village. The research sample was determined using the census method. The data presented herein was collected through the implementation of in-person interviews, which incorporated the use of a structured questionnaire. The research variables of interest were cocoa rehabilitation and environmental factors. The collected data was then analyzed using quantitative descriptive statistical methods and Spearman's rank correlation test. The findings of the study suggest that the robust correlation between environmental factors and cocoa plant rehabilitation can be attributed to intricate interactions among culture, society, and the individual impact of farmers. The mutually reinforcing relationship between these three factors is evident in the manner in which farmers manage their cocoa farms. This management is evident in the cultivation techniques employed, as well as in the decision-making processes related to variety selection, fertilizer use, pest control, and marketing. Consequently, the efficacy of management is contingent upon a harmonious equilibrium between conventional knowledge, social support systems, and access to superior information and resources. This underscores the significance of environmental factors in the context of cocoa farm management.

Abstract

Soil fertility issues are a challenge in the development of the agricultural sector in Indonesia. The lack of initial information and evaluation of soil fertility status can lead to inappropriate decisions in land management, which in turn affects crop yields, which are usually low. Some fertilisation technologies also do not function optimally and do not show a good response. This study aims to identify the chemical characteristics of the soil and the level of soil fertility in the oil palm plantation of PT. Tani Prima Makmur (PT. TPM) in Anggotoa Village, Wawotobi District, Konawe Regency. The research location is the oil palm plantation of PT. TPM in Anggotoa Village, Wawotobi District, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. This study was conducted using the free survey method (using the Toposekuen approach principle) to obtain differences in soil sampling locations. while on flatter slopes, soil fertility tends to be better. Several factors influencing fertility at this stage include Organic Carbon (OC), Base Saturation (BS), Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), Total Phosphorus (TP), and Total Potassium (TP). Soil fertility status is classified as low on moderately steep slopes (15–25%) and moderate on flat slopes (0–8%) and gentle slopes (8–15%). Low organic matter content and base saturation are the primary factors affecting soil fertility in oil palm plantations.

Abstract

Farmer groups function as (1) a learning vehicle; (2) Cooperation Vehicle; and (3) Production units play an important role in agricultural development. This research aims to find out the role of farmer groups in increasing the productivity of rice farming. The research method used was a survey of farmer members of farmer groups in Bombana Regency using proportionate random sampling technique. The relationship between learning class and productivity obtained a Spearman rank correlation value which was moderately positive and significant, meaning that the more the role of farmer groups as a farming production unit increases, the more productivity of lowland rice farming will increase. The relationship between farming production units and productivity has a Spearman rank correlation value which has a strong and significant positive relationship, meaning that the more the group's role as a vehicle for cooperation increases, the more productivity will increase. The relationship between the role of farmer groups and productivity has obtained a Spearman rank correlation value which has a strong and significant positive relationship, meaning that as the role of the farmer group as a whole increases, the productivity of the group members' farming will also increase.
