The objective of this study is to get the empirical data of the differences between students` score grammar test that were taught by using EGRA technique and the students were not. The population of this study consists of 126 students. The sampling process of this research is cluster random sampling technique. The researcher took two classes, VIII D as experimental class consisted of 32 students and VIII C as control class consisted of 31 students. The design of this study is a quantitative method using quasi-experimental design (non-equivalent control group) with two group classes, namely experimental class and control class. The data was collected through pretest and posttest. It aimed to know whether the EGRA technique in teaching grammar can improve students` grammar mastery. The research findings demonstrate that the t-test value is 10.83, which is significantly higher than the ttable value of 1.670 (3.925 > 1.670). This signifies that the use of the EGRA technique is effective in enhancing students' grammar mastery among the eighth-grade students of MTs Istiqlal Delitua. Consequently, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, while the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected

Abstract

This article explores the field of feminist stylistics, a multidisciplinary approach to analyzing a poem titled “Being a Woman” through a feminist lens. By examining the stylistic choices and linguistic strategies in poetry, the article investigates how language can either reinforce or challenge prevailing gender norms and stereotypes. Focusing on three topics, feminism in stylistics, female sentences, and metaphor, we can construct a conclusion regarding the contents within the poem. We found that the theme of oppression and fighting against inequality is heavily prevalent within the poem. The author uses veiled words to hide their hidden antagonism against the male gender. In conclusion, this article emphasizes the critical role of feminist stylistics in redefining how we understand and interact with language in the context of gender. It offers valuable insights into the ways in which language can be both a tool of oppression and a vehicle for feminist empowerment.

Abstract

Fighting fascism was shown by Charlie Chaplin in his speech in The Great Dictator film. Thus, this research aimed to reveal Chaplin's Point of View, attitudes, and judgments toward people through mood and modality analysis in his speech. The-descriptive qualitative method and Hallidayan SFL theory were used to analyze the speech. The findings revealed that Chaplin used 81% declarative and 19% imperative from 54 clauses. Chaplin did not use interrogatives in the speech to encourage people to fight fascism. Furthermore, the researchers found that Chaplin mostly used 92% modalization probability to describe a wonderful future if the dictator loses. Furthermore, Chaplin used an 8% modulation obligation to depict an action that Chaplin should take. Based on the data, it could be interpreted that Chaplin's position was higher than the audiences. He viewed his audience as being weak. Chaplin calls on the soldiers to stop being the slaves of dictators and refuse to listen to their orders. This study from the speech could provide information for people interested in mood and modality and the meaning of the speech related to the Russia-Ukraine war.
