Abstract

Earthquakes threaten not only human life and infrastructure but also cultural heritage and information resources preserved in libraries, archives, and museums. One of the active fault systems in West Java, the Lembang Fault, poses significant seismic risks to Bandung and surrounding areas. This study aims to explore BPBD’s perspective on earthquake risks associated with the Lembang Fault and examine their implications for cultural heritage and information preservation in Bandung. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with three purposively selected BPBD informants involved in disaster mitigation and preparedness activities. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that BPBD views disaster mitigation as a continuous and preventive effort involving hazard mapping, public education, institutional collaboration, emergency planning, and preparedness strategies. The study also highlights the importance of integrating disaster preparedness into preservation management to protect cultural heritage and ensure the sustainability of information resources in disaster-prone areas. This research contributes to the growing discussion on disaster preparedness within Library and Information Science, particularly in the context of cultural heritage preservation. Keywords: BPDB, Cultural heritage preservation, Disaster mitigation, Lembang Fault, , Libraries and archives preparedness

Abstract

This study aims to analyze promotional strategies on Instagram at the Bank Indonesia Regional Office Library in Lampung Province based on the stages of promotional strategy outlined by Stuart and Moran. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a field research approach. Data were collected over a two-month period through structured interviews with a librarian responsible for managing the @perpusbilampung Instagram account, non-participant observation of promotional activities on the @perpusbilampung Instagram account, and documentation. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the library has identified its target audience through visitation data, user interactions, and Instagram Insights, and has implemented segmentation based on age, status, and reading interests. The promotional objectives are aimed at increasing awareness of the library, introducing its services and collections, and expanding its user base. Instagram was chosen as the primary promotional platform because of its wide reach and features such as the feed, Stories, Reels, collaborative posts, and geotags, which were utilized to disseminate information and increase user engagement. The effectiveness of the promotion was evaluated by monitoring Instagram Insights data and audience responses to published content. The findings showed an increase in the number of Instagram followers from 7,467 to 7,571 during the study period. Additionally, one Reels video themed “Favorite Libraries in Bandar Lampung” garnered approximately 236,000 views and hundreds of comments. However, the utilization of audience data and promotional evaluation has not yet been conducted systematically and continuously; consequently, the use of analytical data as a basis for promotional decision-making remains suboptimal.

Abstract

This study discusses library service strategies to improve accessibility for students with intellectual disabilities at PTP State Special Needs School for Education (SLB-E) in North Sumatra. This study is motivated by the importance of implementing inclusive library services that can meet the information needs of students with special needs. The purpose of this study is to analyze the implemented library service strategies and identify obstacles in providing accessible services for students with intellectual disabilities. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that library service strategies are implemented through teacher mentoring, providing visual-based collections, simple literacy activities, and using communication approaches that are easy for students to understand. Teacher mentoring is the dominant strategy because students still need assistance in selecting and understanding reading materials. In addition, visual collections such as picture books are considered more effective in helping students understand information. This study also found obstacles such as limited facilities, a lack of adaptive collections, and the less than optimal role of librarians in disability services. This research contributes to the development of inclusive library studies, especially services.

Abstract

The digitization of library collections presents significant challenges related to copyright, particularly in balancing public access to information with legal protection for creators. This study aims to analyze the implementation of copyright in the digitization of collections at the Library STIKES Wira Medika Bali, identify the obstacles encountered, and formulate appropriate management strategies. The method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive model (data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions). The results of the study indicate that the library’s digitization policy has integrated legal, administrative, and technical aspects, including verification of work ownership, the use of author statements, and a multi-tiered access system. However, implementation still faces challenges such as the complexity of copyright regulations, limitations in digital system integration, a shortage of human resources, and the absence of standardized technical guidelines. The strategies implemented include access restrictions, strengthening legal documentation, user education through information ethics outreach and plagiarism checks, and collection selection based on academic needs. This study concludes that responsible collection digitization requires a comprehensive and sustainable approach, including strengthening integrated systems, developing operational standards, enhancing librarian capacity, and collaborating with external parties. Thus, libraries can serve as mediators that maintain a balance between information access and legal compliance in the digital age. Keywords: Copyright, Digital Rights Management (DRM), Library Digitization
