Abstract

Grammar learning is often considered boring and less interesting by students because the presentation is monotonous and oriented towards memorization. This has an impact on low motivation and student learning outcomes in understanding grammar. An approach is needed that can change the way grammar material is delivered to be more fun and contextual. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of a fun grammar teaching method in improving student learning outcomes and motivation. The study also aims to identify students' perceptions of the learning approach. The study used a quasi-experimental design with two groups, namely the experimental and control, each consisting of 30 students. Data were collected through pre-test, post-test, and student perception questionnaires, and analyzed using SPSS. The experimental group showed a statistically significant increase in grammar learning outcomes compared to the control group. The questionnaire showed that students felt happier, more active, and more motivated in learning grammar with a fun method. The results of the correlation test also showed a strong relationship between students' positive perceptions and increased learning outcomes. The fun grammar teaching method has been proven to be effective in improving student learning outcomes and forming positive learning attitudes. This study offers an innovative approach to grammar teaching based on students' experiences, activities, and emotional involvement.

Abstract

The method used is a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 24 students, comprising 14 students from grade IV and 10 students from grade V. Data were collected through a 30-meter sprint test, zigzag running, throwing, standing on one leg, and standing long jump, both before and after the treatment involving the Gobak Sodor game. Based on the results in the ANOVA table for pretest and posttest, With a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), the difference between the scores before and after the therapy was extremely significant. This suggests that the therapy significantly affected the outcomes that were measured. According to these results, fourth and fifth grade students at SDN Lidah Wetan 4 greatly enhance their gross motor abilities when the traditional Gobak Sodor game is used. The game has proven effective in enhancing students’ speed, agility, leg muscle strength, and balance. Therefore, Gobak Sodor can be considered an engaging and enjoyable alternative physical activity in physical education classes, while also supporting the optimal physical development of children.

Abstract

Scientific writing is a critical skill for university students, both for academic success and personal development through writing competitions. However, many students struggle with structuring scientific papers, applying analytical techniques, and navigating the publication process. These challenges are often caused by limited scientific literacy and can delay academic progress, particularly the completion of final projects or theses. To address this issue, a training program using a digital flipbook in magazine format was conducted at the Primary School Teacher Education Program of Universitas Nusa Cendana. The program aimed to enhance students' writing competence and digital literacy through accessible, engaging learning media. The program involved 41 students and included pre- and post-tests, training on scientific writing principles, practical exercises, and interactive discussions. The flipbook, accessible via mobile devices, offered structured guidance and visual appeal, making it easier for students to revisit and understand the content. Results indicated significant improvements in students’ understanding and motivation. More than 85% of participants rated the flipbook positively in terms of readability, content clarity, and design. The digital format not only facilitated flexible learning but also encouraged consistent engagement with scientific writing practices.

Abstract

Public information transparency is a crucial element of good governance principles. Pohuwato Regency, one of the administrative regions in Gorontalo Province, continues to face significant challenges in implementing public information disclosure. The role of the Regional Government's Public Relations (PR) division in disseminating information has not functioned optimally, as indicated by the limited public access to important and strategic governmental information. This study aims to analyze transparency issues in Pohuwato using a SWOT analysis approach (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). The research employs a descriptive qualitative method through interviews with PR officials, staff from the Communication and Information Office (Kominfo), and members of the community. The findings indicate that there is internal potential to be developed, such as the commitment of some officials to serve the public. However, weaknesses persist, including inadequate infrastructure and budgetary support. Opportunities to enhance transparency exist through the utilization of digital technology and national policy support, yet these are challenged by low information literacy among the public and a culture of bureaucratic secrecy. In conclusion, public information transparency in Pohuwato requires comprehensive and sustainable reform in public relations management.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate how the use of flashcards can improve the English vocabulary skills of sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Bengkala. This study used a classroom action research (CAR) design that combines qualitative and quantitative methods. The subjects of the study consisted of two deaf students in sixth grade, while the object of the study was the use of flashcards in English learning. Data were collected through tests and observation checklists. The tests were used to measure students' vocabulary mastery, while the observation checklists were used to assess the increase in students' interest and attention during the learning process. The test results were analyzed quantitatively using descriptive statistics, while the qualitative data were analyzed using an interactive data analysis model. The results showed an increase in the English vocabulary mastery of deaf students with the use of flashcards. Based on the test results, the average post-test score in the first cycle was 65, which then increased in the second cycle to 87.5. This increase indicates that flashcards are effective in helping deaf students master English vocabulary. The observation results also supported these quantitative findings. In each cycle, deaf students increasingly showed greater interest and attention during the teaching and learning process. This improvement is due to the use of engaging images and games that create a more enjoyable classroom atmosphere. This improvement can also be attributed to more active interaction between students and teachers, which makes students feel more motivated to learn. Thus, the use of flashcards has been proven to improve deaf students' English vocabulary mastery and increase their interest and attention in learning. This research provides an important contribution to the development of more inclusive and enjoyable learning methods for deaf students and can serve as a reference for educators in designing effective and engaging learning.

Abstract

This study investigates the preferences of English Language Teaching (ELT) students regarding the use of multimedia resources in extensive listening activities. Utilizing a mixed-method approach with an Explanatory Sequential Design, the research combines quantitative descriptive statistics and qualitative thematic analysis to identify the most frequently used multimedia tools and the reasons behind students' choices. The participants consisted of 57 ELT students from Al-Qolam University.Findings reveal that songs and movies are the most preferred multimedia resources. These materials are favored due to their engaging nature and ability to blend entertainment with learning, which helps enhance vocabulary acquisition and improve pronunciation. The repeated exposure to authentic language in songs and movies contributes significantly to students’ listening comprehension and language development. Moderately preferred media include English lessons, game walkthroughs, vlogs, and podcasts, reflecting students' interest in diverse and real-world content. These types of multimedia offer practical language input in various contexts, although they are not as engaging as songs and movies for most students. In contrast, radio programs, sleep stories, and interviews were found to be the least preferred, primarily due to their lack of visual stimuli and perceived monotony, which leads to decreased engagement. Students’ reasons for their preferences were categorized into several key themes: personal interest, fun and entertaining learning experience, motivation to improve vocabulary, and enhanced pronunciation. These findings indicate that students are more likely to engage with and benefit from listening activities that align with their personal interests and offer enjoyable experiences. The study concludes that incorporating enjoyable and student-centered multimedia resources in listening activities can significantly improve motivation, engagement, and language outcomes. It highlights the need for educators to thoughtfully select multimedia materials that resonate with students’ interests to support more effective and meaningful language learning experiences.
