Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth the errors and obstacles experienced by students in learning the System of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SLSV), and to provide strategic solutions to improve their understanding and skills. SLSV is a fundamental topic that is very important for developing logical and analytical thinking skills. However, various studies show that students, especially at the vocational high school level, still face significant challenges, particularly when converting story problems into mathematical models, formulating strategies, and being thorough in completing the process. This study applies a qualitative descriptive method involving 25 students from grade X of SMK Swasta Citra Harapan located in Deli Serdang Regency. Primary data were collected through written tests (pre-test and post-test) and interviews with mathematics teachers. The findings of this study indicate that students' initial understanding of SLSV is still minimal, as reflected in the low percentage of correct answers in the pre-test (Problem 1: 32%; Problem 2: 48%). The most frequent errors made by students include the inability to convert story problems into mathematical models, errors in the elimination or substitution process, and errors in algebraic operations. The proposed approach is to implement integrated learning strategies, including Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to reinforce concepts, the use of interactive media to provide motivation, and the habit of systematically recording steps through the Think Talk Write (TTW) approach to improve procedural skills and the accuracy of answers. This study concludes that successful mastery of SPLDV requires a comprehensive strategy that combines conceptual, procedural, and motivational aspects.

Abstract

This study aims to explore English Language Education Study Program (ELESP) students' perceptions of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in supporting their academic writing processes and identify the benefits and limitations they encounter when using these tools in their writing process. Six sixth-semester students from the ELESP were purposively selected based on their prior engagement with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, or QuillBot in academic writing tasks. Data were collected through semi-structured, in-depth interviews that allowed participants to express their experiences openly while giving the researcher flexibility to probe further when necessary. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the findings. The findings indicate that the majority of students perceive AI paraphrasing tools as highly useful in the writing process, both in the linguistic and affective dimensions. The majority of EFL students also perceive AI tools as providing substantial benefits in supporting academic writing. Given these insights, it is suggested that educators and institutions integrate AI tools into writing pedagogy while providing explicit guidance on ethical and critical use.

Abstract

Pronunciation is a crucial element of spoken English proficiency, yet it often receives insufficient emphasis in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction, leading to persistent difficulties that affect learners’ intelligibility and confidence. This study investigates Indonesian EFL students’ perceptions of their English pronunciation challenges, aiming to identify the most problematic phonological features and understand learners’ interpretations of these difficulties. Employing a qualitative case study design, semi-structured interviews were conducted with six first-year students from the English Language Education Program at Universitas Islam Kalimantan (UNISKA) Banjarmasin. Participants were purposively selected based on their coursework and willingness to reflect on their pronunciation experiences. Findings reveal that segmental features such as the /θ/, /ð/, /v/, and vowel length contrasts, alongside suprasegmental aspects like word stress and intonation, pose significant challenges. These difficulties negatively impact learners’ speaking confidence and communicative engagement. The study underscores the importance of integrating learner perspectives into pronunciation pedagogy to enhance instructional effectiveness. Future research should explore intervention strategies and technology-assisted pronunciation learning tailored to diverse linguistic backgrounds.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the effect of the Stacking Blocks game on the cognitive development of early childhood students at TK Telkom Gorontalo. The background of this research is based on the initial condition of children who showed variations in their ability to recognize colors, shapes, sizes, as well as basic concepts of grouping and arranging objects. Educational games such as Stacking Blocks are believed to serve as an enjoyable yet effective alternative for cognitive stimulation. This study employed an experimental method with a One Group Pre-Test Post-Test design. The research sample consisted of 15 children aged 5 to 6 years, both boys and girls. The research instrument was an observation sheet of children's cognitive development, which included indicators of recognizing, naming, classifying, and arranging blocks according to color, shape, size, and balance strategies. The treatment was conducted over eight sessions, each lasting 60–120 minutes. Data were analyzed using a t-test to determine the difference between pre-test and post-test results. The findings indicated an increase in the average score from 31.6 on the pre-test to 38.733 on the post-test, where the t-count value (14.10) was higher than the t-table value (2.145). These results demonstrate that the Stacking Blocks game has a significant effect on the cognitive development of early childhood students. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of Stacking Blocks provides effective cognitive stimulation and supports the development of thinking, grouping, and problem-solving abilities in young children at TK Telkom Gorontalo

Abstract

This study explores the impact of English conversation videos on the academic listening skills and attitudes of English Language Education (ELE) students. As technology reshapes language education, video-based materials, especially conversation videos, provide authentic language exposure, enhancing comprehension and pragmatic skills. Using a pre-experimental design with pretest-posttest assessments and a Likert-scale questionnaire, the study involved 30 second-year ELE students at the Islamic University of Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al-Banjari. Results showed a significant improvement in listening skills, with posttest scores rising from a mean of 81.67 to 87.17 (t(29) = 11.36, p < 0.001). Students had positive attitudes towards using videos, noting high motivation and relevance to their future careers. However, while videos helped with comprehension and accent recognition, they were less effective in reducing anxiety or improving test performance. These findings underscore the value of conversation videos in academic listening development and suggest areas for future research on their impact on higher-level listening skills and anxiety management.

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (K3) in university laboratories is a crucial factor in ensuring the smooth running of education, research, and service activities. This research aims to identify and evaluate the K3 management innovations that have been implemented in university laboratories in the last decade to reduce the risk of accidents and build a sustainable safety culture. The methodology used was a systematic literature review of 50 publications for the period 2015–2025, with data sources from Google Scholar, Web of Science, and Scopus indexed journals. The thematic analysis groups innovation into three main categories: digital technology, procedural innovation, and safety culture. The results show that digital technologies such as the Internet of Things, K3 dashboards, and inspection applications can reduce the number of accidents by up to 27%. Procedural innovations, including digital checklists and adaptive SOPs, increased compliance by 35%, while a safety culture based on gamification training and online campaigns increased awareness by up to 40%. These findings confirm that an integrated approach between technology, procedures, and culture provides the most optimal results. This study contributes to the development of an integrated K3 management model and opens up opportunities for further research related to the application of artificial intelligence in laboratory safety systems

Abstract

This research aims to examine the correlation between cooperative learning strategy and the students' writing ability of procedure texts at class X RPL of SMK Negeri 6 Pekanbaru. This research used a quantitative method by collecting data through questionnaires and writing tests, namely Cooperative Learning Strategy Questionnaire and Students' Writing Ability Of Procedure Text in Test Writing, to measure the correlation between these two variables. The results of the hypothsis analysis show that the significance value (2-tailed) from the t test is 0.000, which is smaller than 0.005. This shows that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. However, based on the correlation score classification of the two instruments, the average score is in the "Low" category, namely in the range 0.200 – 0.400. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a correlation between cooperative learning strategy and students' writing ability of procedure texts, although the level of correlation is low.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education, particularly through the integration of e-books and educational applications. Despite numerous studies examining these tools individually, limited attention has been given to how they can be pedagogically aligned to support sustainable language learning. This study aims to fill that gap by conducting a conceptual review that synthesizes relevant studies, books, and official reports published between 2020 and 2025. The review employed a structured inclusion process emphasizing relevance, credibility, and full-text accessibility from major academic databases such as Scopus, ERIC, and Google Scholar. The thematic analysis revealed four major themes: digital learning concepts, the pedagogical affordances of e-books and educational applications, teachers’ digital competence, and the importance of pedagogical coherence. The findings show that when grounded in constructivist and cognitive learning frameworks, digital tools can enhance learners’ engagement, motivation, and language proficiency. This review highlights the necessity of aligning technological use with sound pedagogical design to achieve meaningful learning outcomes. The study provides practical implications by proposing a pedagogical framework that assists teachers, curriculum designers, and policymakers in effectively integrating e-books and educational applications into EFL instruction. Such integration is expected to foster autonomous, interactive, and sustainable language learning in digital environments.
