Abstract

This research was driven by a long-standing problem and the high number of students enrolling in private, face-to-face elementary schools. The purpose of this study was to examine parents' strategies and expectations in choosing an elementary school for their children to ensure an ideal education. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data analysis was conducted using source triangulation. The data analysis technique used a synchronization between the ideal school selection strategy for children and Talcott Parsons' structural-functional theory. The results showed that Adaptation (A) is reflected in parents' motivation and expectations for their children's education. Goal Attainment (G) is reflected in parents' considerations of school quality and available facilities. Integration (I) is reflected in parents' perceptions of their children and their educational needs. Latency (L) reflects parents' trust in the school and its education system. The survey results showed that the main factors considered by parents were teacher quality and school reputation, with 86.6% and 70%, respectively, rating these factors as very important. Facilities, location, and educational costs were also important considerations. Recent trends and their influence are beginning to be noticed, albeit to a slightly lesser extent. In general, parents prioritize school quality and reputation when choosing a school for their children.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of Bantenese speaking and writing skills in fifth grade students at SDN Kota Bumi, Cilegon, Banten. Considering the declining use of regional languages ​​among the community due to the influence of foreign cultures and the presence of contemporary languages, students tend to prefer to follow trends and use contemporary languages ​​so as not to be considered old-fashioned. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, where the research subjects consisted of fifth grade students, the principal, and the local content teacher of Bantenese Javanese, which involved interviews, observations, and documentation for data collection. The data obtained were analyzed systematically through three main stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, to obtain an accurate picture and in accordance with the real conditions in the school. Furthermore, the data were tested for validity using credibility, transferability, dependability, and certainty testing techniques. The results of the study indicate that the description of Bantenese speaking and writing skills can improve regional language skills in fifth grade students, they are already capable and are at the development stage. With the support and attention from schools, parents, and the surrounding environment, the use of Bantenese Javanese among students is slowly increasing, so that it can preserve culture and ensure that regional languages ​​continue to exist and do not become extinct, as well as forming students who are polite and courteous.

Abstract

Education must adapt to technological developments in order to maximize both the challenges and benefits that arise. The integration of digital technology in classroom learning has become one of the important innovations in contemporary learning. This article describes research and development of Android-based fiqh learning media designed to improve the learning outcomes of 10th grade students in Islamic high schools. This study used an R&D method with the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages from analysis to evaluation. The resulting product is an Android application called Baitullah, which focuses on Hajj and Umrah material. This product was declared highly feasible by three validators, with a percentage of 95% from subject matter experts, 96% from media experts, and 97% from learning practitioners. The responses of 20 students regarding the attractiveness of the product reached a percentage of 87% in the very attractive category. The N-Gain value was recorded at 0.59, indicating sufficient effectiveness. The t-test also yielded a p-value < 0,001, thus rejecting H0 and accepting Ha. It can be concluded from the analysis that there was a significant increase in learning outcomes after using the product, indicating that the Android-based fiqh learning media is effective for learning.

Abstract

The level of critical thinking skills among students in science education is still relatively low because the learning models used have not been able to optimize their thinking processes, which are still teacher-centered and lack meaningful problem-solving experiences. This study aims to analyze the impact of the PBL model in improving students' critical thinking skills by applying the Systematic Literature Review method in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. This research method identified 781 articles through Google Scholar, of which 22 articles met the inclusion criteria. The results show that PBL effectively optimizes students' higher-order thinking skills by involving them in contextual learning. PBL also provides more structured opportunities for scientific reasoning compared to other models. Further research is recommended to analyze the integration of PBL with various other digital media that can explore long-term impacts and involve broader levels of education for more comprehensive results.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the application of gamification in improving the learning outcomes of class XI students on the subject of The Beauty of Ritual and Belief Diversity. The type of classroom action research. The location of the research was SMAN 1 Ampel Boyolali, Central Java. The subjects in the study were 17 class XI students of SMAN 1 Ampel Boyolali and teachers of Buddhist Religious Education and Character Building. The sampling technique used a purposive procedure. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, documents, tests. Data validity used triangulation and key informant review. This study used triangulation, namely source triangulation and method triangulation. Data analysis used in this study was descriptive analytical techniques and critical analysis techniques. The results of the study showed that the application of gamification effectively improved student learning outcomes on the subject of The Beauty of Ritual and Belief Diversity. Before the application of gamification, an average score of 72.53 was obtained. Cycle 1 learning by applying gamification. The results of cycle 1's average score were 80.18. Cycle 1 learning experienced an average increase of 7.65 compared to pre-cycle. The average value of cycle 2 was 88.12. The increase in learning outcomes in cycle 2 was 7.94.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between parent attachment and self-concept with decision-making for further studies in vocational high school students. This study uses a quantitative method. Participants in this study were 122 students of class XII of vocational high school with a sampling technique using quota sampling. The scales used were the parent attachment scale, self-concept scale, and decision-making scale. The correlation coefficient of the three variables rx12y is 0.423 (p <0.01) so there is a very significant relationship between parent attachment and self-concept with decision-making with an effective contribution of 17.9%. Therefore, the major hypothesis in this study is that there is a relationship between parent attachment and self-concept with decision-making is accepted. The results of the analysis of the parent attachment variable with decision-making show rx1y of 0.381 (p > 0.01) and an effective contribution of 14.5%. Therefore, there is a positive relationship between parent attachment and decision-making, the first hypothesis is accepted. While the results of the analysis of the self-concept variable with decision-making show rx2y of 0.327 (p <0.01) with an effective contribution of 10.7%. So there is a positive relationship between self-concept and decision making, the second hypothesis is accepted.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between fear of failure and peer conformity with cheating behavior using ChatGPT among university students. The respondents consisted of 125 students selected through purposive sampling. Three types of scale instruments were used in this study: a cheating behavior scale, a fear of failure scale, and a peer conformity scale. The correlation coefficient among the three variables showed a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) with an Rx₁₂y value of 0.650, indicating a highly significant relationship between fear of failure and peer conformity with cheating behavior. Thus, the major hypothesis stating that there is a relationship between fear of failure and peer conformity with cheating behavior was accepted, with an effective contribution of 42.2%. The analysis between cheating behavior and fear of failure showed a correlation coefficient Rx₁y of 0.355 with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.01), indicating a highly significant positive relationship between fear of failure and cheating behavior. Furthermore, the analysis between cheating behavior and peer conformity showed a correlation coefficient Rx₂y of 0.617 with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.01), indicating a highly significant positive relationship between peer conformity and cheating behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the factors that cause the delay of students arriving at school in the application of discipline character. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with subjects consisting of principals, classroom teachers, and students in one of the elementary schools in Indonesia. Data collection techniques are carried out through direct observation of student arrival behavior, in-depth interviews with schools and students, and attendance documentation as supporting data. The results of the study show that students' tardiness is influenced by several main factors, namely low time management skills, lack of compliance with school rules, and lack of role and supervision from the family environment. Delays also occur repeatedly and show the weak internalization of disciplinary values in students. The implications of this study show the importance of a collaborative role between schools, parents, and students in shaping a culture of discipline, especially through positive habituation, setting examples, and strengthening rules that are educational and consistent. This research is expected to be the basis for schools to design strategies for fostering discipline character more effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

Islamic Education (PAI) is confronted with a persistent challenge arising from the misalignment between its holistic aim of nurturing insān kāmil (the complete human being) and assessment practices that remain predominantly cognitive and reductive in nature. As a result, existing assessments have yet to adequately capture students’ character formation, attitudes, and diverse potentials. This study seeks to formulate and develop a holistic assessment model for PAI grounded in Multiple Intelligence theory. Employing a qualitative approach, the research is based on conceptual inquiry and critical analysis of scholarly literature on authentic assessment, Islamic education, and Multiple Intelligence theory. Data were analyzed using a descriptive–analytical technique through the synthesis of key concepts and the systematic mapping of relationships between PAI learning domains and Multiple Intelligence. The findings demonstrate that the integration of Multiple Intelligence theory into PAI assessment can generate a comprehensive, operational, and learner-centered assessment framework, enabling a more equitable and meaningful evaluation of learning outcomes across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. The proposed model offers a humanistic alternative to conventional assessment practices and aligns closely with the philosophical foundations of Islamic Religious Education as well as the demands of 21st-century education.

Abstract

This qualitative descriptive study analyzes Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) usage patterns and their impact on pre-service teachers' problem-solving capabilities through Polya’s framework. Data from ten informants were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. Findings reveal that GenAI serves as effective "cognitive scaffolding" during the understanding and planning phases. However, a "dependency paradox" emerged during execution, while the evaluation phase showed critical literacy deficiencies due to automation bias. The study concludes that uncontrolled GenAI use jeopardizes students' procedural skills and epistemic agency. It recommends reorienting curricula toward Critical AI Literacy and AI-TPACK frameworks to safeguard intellectual autonomy.
