Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven significant changes in learning systems, including the adoption of e-learning in higher education. This study aims to analyze student acceptance of the use of e-learning platforms in Makassar City universities using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework. The three main constructs analyzed include Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), and Attitude Toward Using (ATU). This research uses quantitative approach with survey method, involving 65 students from various study programs who actively participate in online learning. The instrument used was a Google Form-based questionnaire consisting of 15 statements, analyzed using multiple linear regression through Jamovi software. The results showed that PU and PEOU had a positive and significant effect on ATU, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.702. This means that 70.2% of the variation in student attitudes towards e-learning can be explained by these two variables. This finding confirms that perceived usefulness and ease of use are key factors in shaping positive attitudes towards learning technology adoption. This research provides an empirical contribution to the strengthening of the TAM model in the Indonesian higher education context and offers practical recommendations for the development of e-learning systems that are more effective and responsive to user needs.

Abstract

The disparity in educational infrastructure across universities in Indonesia presents a significant barrier to the integration of computational thinking (CT) in higher education. This study aims to explore students’ perceptions of educational infrastructure development and the integration of CT in university learning. A descriptive quantitative method was employed using a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 73 university students. The results show that students perceive CT as highly relevant for enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with strong support for its integration into curricula. However, perceptions regarding the adequacy of educational infrastructure in Indonesia remain neutral to negative. Students also highlighted the importance of teacher and parent roles, as well as equitable access to professional training for successful CT implementation. These findings suggest that while awareness of CT’s relevance is high, systemic improvements in infrastructure and educator capacity are essential to support effective implementation in higher education.

Abstract

The development of technology in recent years has been very rapid, one of the results is the development of a buying and selling transaction system known as e-Commerce. Although it provides more benefits compared to traditional shopping methods, the development of online shopping in Indonesia has experienced various obstacles, including the low public awareness of using online shopping websites as a means of making buying and selling transactions and various other obstacles. This study will use a combination model between the TAM model and the task-technology fit (TTF) model that has been modified according to online shopping problems. The TTF model aims to measure the ability of information technology to support the completion of a task. The combination model will be analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method. From the results of data processing using AMOS 6.0 software, it was found that the latent variable perceived ease of use did not affect the acceptance of online shopping technology. In addition, the results also show that the latent variables that significantly influence the actual use of online shopping technology are the latent variable perceived usefulness which influences the latent variable actual use by 1.095 and the latent variable task-technology fit which influences the latent variable actual use by 1.1653.

Abstract

Purpose – Computational Thinking (CT) is recognized as an essential competence for the 21st century, yet introducing CT in preschool and early primary education is challenging because young children rely heavily on concrete reasoning and are still developing literacy skills. This study aims to propose a neuroscience-informed conceptual framework that uses building block (BB) activities as a developmentally appropriate pathway to foster early CT skills. The framework integrates principles from cognitive neuroscience, embodied cognition, and computer science education to support abstraction, decomposition, pattern recognition, and algorithmic reasoning. Methods – This study employs a conceptual research design based on an integrative theoretical synthesis. The framework was developed through a critical review of interdisciplinary literature in computational thinking, educational neuroscience, developmental psychology, and embodied learning. Building block activities were selected and structured according to three pedagogical criteria: cognitive alignment with executive functions, developmentally appropriate scaffolding for children aged 4–9, and accessibility using non-electronic materials. Findings – The study proposes a pedagogical framework consisting of several building block activities, including free play construction, illustrated tutorials, multi-perspective template building, unplugged programming, debugging exercises, constraint-based construction, and engineering challenges. These activities support core CT practices such as decomposition, algorithm design, pattern recognition, and debugging, while also strengthening creativity, spatial cognition, and collaborative problem-solving. Research implications – As a conceptual study, the framework has not yet been empirically validated and therefore its effectiveness requires further testing through classroom experiments and large-scale educational interventions.Originality –This study contributes a novel synthesis that connects neuroscience, embodied learning, and computational thinking pedagogy into a coherent framework for early education, providing practical guidance for introducing CT concepts without relying on digital technologies.

Abstract

Purpose - The Industrial Revolution 5.0 (IR5.0), characterized by its human-centric approach, is anticipated to transform global industries both socially and economically. Despite its potential, little is known about research trends within specific sectors, particularly libraries, which have historically served as agents of change during major technological shifts. However, the role of libraries in IR5.0 remains underexplored. This study aims to investigate various applications of IR5.0 and assess its implications for libraries and librarians. Methods – This study employs a qualitative research design, utilizing content analysis and a literature review approach. A literature review was conducted across various databases such as Google Scholar, Taylor & Francis Journals, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink and ProQuest. Thirty studies on IR5.0 were analyzed, with a particular focus on those addressing library applications, to provide a foundation for future research in this area. Findings – The literature review reveals that European nations have initiated discussions and applications of IR5.0 across different sectors. The most influential research originates from developed countries such as the United States, Sweden, Australia, and Germany, where libraries are actively exploring IR5.0's potential. In contrast, libraries in developing nations tend to follow the lead of these advanced countries. The findings also suggest that librarians with limited technical skills and training may face challenges in adopting IR5.0. Additionally, potential barriers to implementing IR5.0 in libraries include the costs of hardware and software, data security issues, and the need for technically proficient staff.Research implications – This study is based on a review of existing literature and does not include primary empirical research. As a result, the findings may differ from those in experimental studies. Future empirical research on IR5.0 is necessary to explore its practical implications. The study offers preliminary insights that may guide scholars in understanding both the benefits and challenges of IR5.0, given its limited large-scale implementation to date.Originality – This research contributes foundational knowledge for theoretical and practical discussions surrounding IR5.0, specifically within the context of libraries and librarianship. It highlights the scope of IR5.0 in libraries and underscores the need for further studies employing interviews, case studies, and surveys to deepen understanding of its practical applications.
