Abstract

Probiotics is a feed additive in the form of life microorganisms that balance microorganism population in the digestive tract. This research was conducted to study the effect of addition of probiotics product into drinking water on performance. One hundred and fifty birds of day old chicks (DOC) of “Hybro-AM”strain were divided into 5 groups of treatments. The treatments were R0 (control diet+ drinking water without probiotics), R1 (R0 + Temban), R2 (R0 + Biolacta), R3 (R0 + Biovet), and R4 (commercial diet). Chicken were given diet and drinkingwater ad libitum. Feed intake, body weight gain and feed conversion were measured weekly and income over feed and cost (IOFC). Local feed (control died) and control with probiotics are feed with self formulation (R0, and R1 – R3). Thecontrol feed ingredient used are corn, rice brand, fish meal, hull soybean mea, palm oil, grit,DCP and premix. Results showed that treatments did not give significant effect (P>0,05) on feed intake, body weight gain and feed conversion. The result of Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC), shows that feed with control diet with probiotics Temban are best alternatif to pressure high price of feed and useable by farmer.

Abstract

Parameter ratios are important information for the ship designer in the preliminary design stages. They can be used as a tool to identify the main parameter of vessel and their other technical characteristics. The information about parameter ratios of mono-hull vessel is currently available in Naval Architecture literatures, but it is not the case for the type of twin-hull vessel called catamaran. Having conducted technical analysis in this research, it has been identified that parameter ratios of passenger catamaran vessel made of FRP has values of L / B ratio from 2.52 up to 3.7, L / D ratio from 5.25 up to 11:24, slenderness ratio (Lwl/BwL) from 9 up to 12. Other values of various parameter ratios like B/T, D/T, L /√ L, and Displacement/L are also discussed.

Abstract

Industri Tepung Tapioka Rakyat (ITTARA), is one policy product of Lampung Province Goverment. This program is suitable to Lampung potency as the cassava producer the cassava producer for raw material that reach 1.6 million tons per annum (1971). Lampung is the second biggest producer after Java. ITTARA is built to empowered civil economy in villagge with capacity average of 2 and 10 topioca flour tons. This study is fucused at 2 ton capacity because for 10 ton capacity are required big capital and relative expensive for all farmer. ITTARA is expected able to assist increasing prosperity of cassava so that the farmer alwasy in a weak possition. This study will cover technology used, the settlement of disposal and by product and other aspects.

Abstract

Beta glucan is a polysaccharide compound, generally not soluble inwater and resistant to acid. Beta glucan is used as an immunomodulator (enhancing the immune system) in mammals is usually a beta-glucan soluble in water, easily absorbed and has a low molecular weight. Several example of beta-glucan such as cellulose (β-1 ,4-glucan), lentinan (β-1 0.6-glucan) and (β-1 ,3-glucan), pleuran (β-1, 6 and β-1 ,3-glucan) are isolated from species of fungi Basidiomycota include mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) and shiitake (Lentinus edodes).The purpose of thisresearch activity is to obtain beta-glucan compound that can be dissolved in water and in alkali derived from fungi Basidiomycota, i.e, Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) and shiitake (Lentinus edodes). The result of beta-glucan compared to characterize the resulting beta glucan that is molecular structure . The difference of beta glucan extraction is based on the differences in solubility of beta-glucan. Beta glucan could be water soluble and insoluble water.

Abstract

Earthquake with magnitude 7,7 on the Richter scale happened on 17 July 2006 in Indian Ocean, south of Ciamis District at 10 kilometer depth. The earthquake has generated tsunami and causing disaster in the coastal areas of Ciamis – Cilacap.More than 500 people died and hundred of buildings were damage. Field investigations showed that inundation along the affected coastal areas of Ciamis – Cilacap depend on the coastal morphology. In the areas with sand ridges the inundation distance were reduced significantly for example only about 150 meter in Widarapayung compared to 500 meter to 1 kilometer in Pangandaran. Damage to buldings depend on the building constructions. Wooden buildings were easily swept away by the tsunami waves. Concrete buildings without reinforced were heavily or completely damage compared to more withstand reinforced concrete buildings.

Abstract

The research carried out to observe the effect of maltose addition on the quality of frozen semen of garut rams. Semen was collected once a week using artificial vagina from six mature garut rams. Semen was equilibrated at 5oC for four hours, frozen and stored in liquid nitrogen. The thawing was carried out at the temperature 30oC for 30 seconds. The result showed that percentages of viable sperm for addition of maltose 1,2 g / 100 ml extender (68,50 ± 0,84%) was significantly difference (P<0,05) than control (54,83 ± 1,94%) and addition of maltose 0,6 g / 100 ml extender (65,67 ± 1,03 %). The percentages of progressive motile sperm and percentages of plasma membrane for addition of maltose 1,2 g / 100 ml extender (53% and 64,67%) were significantly difference (P<0,05) than control (43% and 53,83%) but were not significantly different (P>0,05) from addition of maltose 0,6 g / 100 ml extender (50,83% and 64,67%)respectively. In conclusion, the addition of maltose 1,2 g / 100 ml extender is optimal dose to improve the quality of frozen semen of garut rams.

Abstract

Gambier is the extract of Uncaria gambir Roxb leaves. The use of gambier in mouthwash formulae is one of the efforts of exploring gambier advantages. The existing commercialized mouthwash have quite a high alcohol. The use of a mouthwashes with alcohol contain more than of 25% will increase the risk of generating. mouth and throat cancers up to 50%. The objective of this research using to find the type and bestconcentration of gambier in the mouthwash formula, so that it could be have accepted by consumer. The experiment was in complete random factorial design with two factors andthree levels. The first factor was gambier concentration (1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%), and the second factor was tud of storage (at weekly until one month). Result showed that gambier with low catechin (25-35%) and tannins (60-65%) had the highest resistance to Streptococcus mutans (up 41.77 %). The antibacterial activity of gambier mouthwash was in the range 20.45 - 43.24%, while the control (Pepsodent Herbal) was 28.25%. The pH of gambier mouthwash was 4.14 - 4.38, while that of the control was 4.66. The viscosity of the mouthwash was 2.75 - 4.75 cP, while the control was 7.25 cP. Both the gambier mouthwash and the control had showed that gambier mouthwash with gambier concentration of 1 % was the most preferred by consumers.

Abstract

Radiant pipes in the furnace that operates at high temperatures in a crude oil processing unit is used to heat the oil in order to do the separation fractions. Operating safety factor be the focus of research, because visual condition of the furnace radiant pipes has been degradated cuase of high temperature service since 1985. Analysis of the results of the inspection and testing of furnace radiant pipe pieces using visual inspection, dimensional measurements, analysis of the chemical composition, tensile testing and microstructural examination showed that the radiant tube furnace in accordance with the criteria of the standard specification A335 grade P5, where the tensile strength (tensile strength) minimum amounted to 493.7 MPa, yield (yield strength) of 276.3 MPa are still on the standard specifications criteria and the microstructure of pipe consist of ferrite and pearlite is still good condition, so the furnace radiant pipe is still safe to operated in accordance with the design service conditions.Pipa radian furnace yang beroperasi pada suhu tinggi dalam suatu unit pengolahan minyak mentah digunakan untuk memanaskan minyak agar dapat dilakukan pemisahan secara fraksi. Faktor keamanan dan keselamatan operasi menjadi fokus penelitian, karena kondisi pipa radian tersebut secara visual telah mengalami degradasi akibat beroperasi pada temperature tinggi sejak 1985. Analisis hasil pemeriksaan dan pengujian terhadap potongan pipa radian furnace menggunakan metode pemeriksaan visual, pengukuran dimensi, analisa komposisi kimia, uji tarik dan pemeriksaan struktur mikro menunjukkan bahwa pipa radian furnace sesuai dengan kriteria standar spesifikasi A335 grade P5, dimana kekuatan tarik (tensile strength) sebesar 493,7 Mpa dan kekuatan luluh (yield strength) sebesar 276,3 MPa yang masih di atas kriteria spesifikasi standarnya dan struktur mikro pipa yang berupa ferit dan perlit masih cukup baik, maka pipa-pipa radian furnace masih aman / layak untuk beroperasi sesuai dengan kondisi operasi desainnya.Keywords: Pipe, furnace, safe,strength and microstructure.

Abstract

An evaluation of the quality of the Black Tiger Broodstock Shrimp (Penaeus monodon) in the southern coastal area of Pangandaran, West Java was conducted during period of Juny-October 2005. The evaluation was focused on the waterquality identification and the quality of the broodstock collected from the farmer sorround the Pangandaran Area. The result of the evaluation showed that the water quality of the coastal area of Pangandaran was good compare to the northern coastal area of West Java in which the organic and inorganic pollutantwas . This situation was affected on the quality of the broodstock. The identification result on the quality of broodstock using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method shows that the broodstock shrimp of the Black Tiger Shrimp(Penaeus monodon) in the coastal area of Pangandaran is free from the White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) and Infectious Hypodermal and Hematopoietic Necrosis Virus (IHHNV). From 99 broodstock identified, only 4 indicated by very light contaminated WSSV and 2 by IHHNV. This condition shows that in general the quality of the broodstock shrimp of the Black Tiger Shrimp (Penaeus monodon) in the coastal area of Pangandaran was excellent and these sources are potentialto be applied as broodstock sources for developing the Black Tiger Shrimp (Penaeus monodon) culture in the national level.

Abstract

The remote control (RC) model testing of several configurations of Wing In Surface Effect craft had been beginning from design analysis, technical drawing, aerodynamics wind tunnel, hydrodynamic and RC model test. The mathematical model of Wing In Surface craft is introduced to solve the dynamics problem during takeoff, cruise and landing maneuvres. The theoretical background of hydrodynamic on hull during ground roll calculated by Savitsky method. And the aerodynamic parameters are calculated by Vortex Lattice Method (VLM)5 and DATCOM6 software. The WiSE-craft model flown from lower altitude on the sea level within the speed, V at lower altitude. The wing configurations and step positions of RC models are tested in Jatiluhur to known the dynamic characteristics. One of them is the zig zag manuvre data that recorded by GPS.
