Abstract

21st-century learning requires students to develop critical thinking skills and sustainability awareness to address global challenges. Initial observations indicated that students’ critical thinking skills ranged from less critical to moderately critical, while sustainability awareness was moderate. This study investigated the effect of ESD-based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) on these two outcomes among Grade 10 students at SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. A quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design was employed, involving an experimental group receiving ESD-based PBL and a control group receiving the regular learning approach. Data were collected using a critical thinking essay test and a sustainability awareness questionnaire and analyzed using MANOVA. The results showed a significant multivariate effect (Wilks’ Λ = 0.285, F(2,62) = 77.707, p < 0.001, η²p = 0.715). Univariate analysis showed significant effects on critical thinking skills (F = 152.873, p < 0.001, η²p = 0.708) and sustainability awareness (F = 10.633, p = 0.002, η²p = 0.144). The experimental group obtained higher mean scores for critical thinking (78 vs. 52) and sustainability awareness (79 vs. 72). These findings indicate that ESD-based PBL was associated with higher critical thinking skills and sustainability awareness, although the findings are limited to immediate post-intervention outcomes.

Abstract

Understanding the structure and operation of electronic components is challenging when instruction relies on two-dimensional media because their internal processes are not directly visible. This study developed and evaluated a marker-based Augmented Reality (AR) learning medium for Electronic Components in a vocational Industrial Electronics Engineering programme. Using a Research and Development approach based on the ADDIE model, the AR medium was developed with Unity and Vuforia to provide interactive 3D visualizations of electronic components, including rotation, scaling, and animations of their operation. The medium was validated by three electronics specialists and three media design specialists using Aiken's V, while its practicality was assessed by one teacher and 15 tenth-grade students. Conceptual understanding was measured using a 20-item pretest-posttest administered to the same 15 students. Material and media validity scores were 0.888 and 0.955, respectively, indicating very high validity. Practicality ratings were also very high, reaching 93% from the teacher and 92% from the students. Mean conceptual understanding scores increased from 41 on the pretest to 80.33 on the posttest, with an N-Gain of 0.67, categorized as moderate. Although the one-group design does not establish causality, the findings indicate that AR-based visualization can support students' understanding of abstract electronic concepts and provide a practical instructional model for vocational education.

Abstract

This research is a research and development study of learning media based on Digital Storytelling (DS) on environmental change material to improve students' critical thinking and communication skills. Using the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) combined with a quasi-experimental design (quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design) with an intervention duration of 3 meetings, this study applied a purposive sampling technique involving 48 eleventh-grade students divided into an experimental group (n=24) and a control group (n=24). The results showed that the media was highly valid (97.31%) and highly practical based on teacher perception (92.11%) and student perception (92.71%). Data collection for critical thinking skills used a standardized test (α = 0.90). The effectiveness test using an independent samples t-test showed a statistically significant increase in critical thinking skills, where the experimental class achieved an average N-Gain score of 83.98% (high category) compared to the control class which only obtained 48.69% (p = 0.000). In addition, students' communication skills in the experimental group increased significantly based on the Mann-Whitney U test (p = 0.000) with a large effect size (r = 0.862). In conclusion, the Digital Storytelling video media proved to be valid, practical, and highly effective in improving students' critical thinking and communication skills on environmental change material.

Abstract

Competitive fencing is an open-skill combat sport in which perception, anticipation, decision-making, and action occur under severe temporal pressure. This review synthesised evidence on cognitive performance determinants in fencing, with emphasis on sport-specific anticipation and visual attention, reaction and response selection, and trainability. A structured Scopus search was conducted in accordance with PRISMA 2020 and identified 403 records; 15 duplicates were removed, 388 titles and abstracts were screened, 70 full texts were assessed, and 18 studies were included. Eligibility was defined using a PICOS framework, and study quality and relevance were appraised with a prespecified four-domain FICO rubric (Focus, Information, Context, Outcome). Because the included studies used heterogeneous designs and non-comparable outcome operationalisations, evidence was synthesised narratively and thematically following the Thomas and Harden approach rather than quantitatively pooled. The evidence indicates that expertise is expressed primarily through sport-specific anticipation, weapon-dependent visual search, and efficient response selection and inhibition, whereas generic simple reaction time is less discriminative. Training interventions improved attention or broader cognitive function, but transfer to isolated reaction-time outcomes was inconsistent. The current screening record does not contain a reproducible inter-rater agreement statistic; accordingly, no Cohen's kappa value is reported without verification. Larger longitudinal studies, standardised fencing-specific measures, and ecologically valid designs are needed.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh halal awareness, label halal, dan religiusitas terhadap niat beli produk kopi UMKM di Aceh dengan trust sebagai variabel mediasi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan survei terhadap 204 responden Muslim yang pernah membeli produk kopi UMKM di Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang, yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan PLS-SEM. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa halal awareness dan religiusitas tidak berpengaruh langsung terhadap niat beli, sedangkan label halal berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan. Halal awareness dan religiusitas berpengaruh positif terhadap trust, sementara label halal berpengaruh negatif. Trust berpengaruh positif dan menjadi prediktor terkuat terhadap niat beli (β = 0,461; p < 0,001). Trust juga memediasi hubungan halal awareness, label halal, dan religiusitas dengan niat beli. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya trust dalam menerjemahkan kesadaran halal dan religiusitas menjadi niat beli serta menegaskan pentingnya ketersediaan dan kredibilitas informasi halal bagi produk kopi UMKM.

Abstract

This study examined the effects of augmented reality (AR)-supported artistic anatomy learning on fine arts students’ figure drawing performance in higher education and explored students’ perceptions of the usability, engagement, and pedagogical value of AR in studio-based anatomy learning. A quasi-experimental embedded mixed-methods design was employed with an experimental group receiving AR-supported artistic anatomy instruction and a control group receiving conventional instruction. Participants were 63 undergraduate fine arts students (31 experimental; 32 control). Data were collected through pre-test and post-test figure drawing tasks, a student perception questionnaire, and qualitative discussions with selected students and lecturers. Students’ drawings were assessed using a rubric covering proportion, perspective, anatomical structure, gesture, and spatial coherence. The AR-supported group showed greater improvement than the conventional group, with the largest descriptive post-test differences in perspective and spatial coherence. Students also reported high usability, engagement, and pedagogical value. Qualitative findings indicated that rotation, scaling, and multi-angle exploration helped students examine three-dimensional bodily form before translating it into two-dimensional drawings. These findings extend AR-supported anatomy research into fine arts studio pedagogy and indicate that AR can function as a complementary visual-spatial learning tool when its affordances are aligned with discipline-specific drawing tasks.

Abstract

This systematic review synthesized empirical evidence on large language models (LLMs) and generative AI for English-language learning, assessment, and academic writing, with implications for English for specific purposes (ESP) in sport sciences. Following PRISMA 2020, a structured Scopus TITLE-ABS-KEY search identified 871 records; 50 peer-reviewed journal studies published between 2024 and 2026 met the eligibility criteria. Studies were synthesized using a three-stage thematic approach based on coding, descriptive themes, and analytical themes. Methodological reporting and applicability were appraised using a transparent four-domain FICO rubric. Screening was conducted by one reviewer; therefore, inter-rater reliability statistics were not calculable retrospectively. Four analytical clusters were identified: language-skills learning (8 studies), assessment and evaluation (8), academic writing and feedback (30), and adoption, perception, and learner agency (4). Evidence generally favoured structured, teacher-mediated GenAI use, while LLM assessment showed high reliability in some rubric-based tasks but variable validity. GenAI was most consistently useful for feedback, revision, and self-regulated learning. Because designs and outcomes were heterogeneous, no pooled effect size was calculated. Future research should prioritise discipline-specific ESP studies, longitudinal designs, transparent validation, and responsible AI integration.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate strategic priorities for optimizing community economic empowerment through the productive utilization of Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah (ZIS) funds in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The study employed the Analytic Network Process (ANP) based on pairwise comparison judgments from nine purposively selected experts representing academics, regulators, and practitioners in Islamic social finance and community empowerment. Data were analyzed using Super Decisions through the unweighted, weighted, and limit supermatrix procedures. The consistency ratios ranged from 0.03 to 0.08, indicating acceptable consistency. The results identified insufficient business mentoring (18.6%), low Islamic financial literacy (16.4%), and inadequate household economic capacity (14.7%) as the highest-priority problems. The leading strategic alternatives were developing entrepreneurial capacity (23.1%), strengthening ZIS education and Islamic financial literacy (20.5%), and strengthening partnerships and market access (17.2%). These findings indicate that productive ZIS requires an integrated empowerment approach that combines financial assistance with mentoring, entrepreneurship development, financial literacy, market access, and stakeholder collaboration. The study contributes a priority-based ANP framework for strengthening sustainable and accountable productive ZIS management within the principles of Maqashid al-Shariah.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examined how computer vision, wearable sensing, and multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) are used to infer psychological, affective, and behavioural states in tennis and related racket sports. Target constructs included the zone or flow-like states, emotion, stress, attention-related behaviour, and psychologically relevant performance states. Behavioural and perceptual studies were treated as indirect evidence when they supplied a plausible observable proxy rather than a validated psychological measure. Reporting followed PRISMA 2020. A structured Scopus search identified 309 records published from 2015 to 2025; 41 full texts were assessed and 10 studies met the archived eligibility criteria. Eligible studies were English-language peer-reviewed articles involving racket-sport contexts and digital sensing or computational methods with a behavioural, affective, or psychological target. Comparator conditions were extracted when reported but were not required for inclusion. The synthesis used descriptive and thematic analysis because constructs, labels, samples, settings, and performance metrics were heterogeneous. Multimodal approaches showed advantages in the few studies with direct modality comparisons, while naturalistic tennis affect recognition reached 68.9% accuracy in one match-footage study. However, no common external-validation benchmark was identified. Reviewer-level screening logs were not retained, so Cohen’s kappa cannot be reconstructed retrospectively; FICO was used as an internal appraisal rubric, not a validated risk-of-bias tool. Future work should prioritize naturalistic datasets, psychometric anchoring, subject-independent validation, transparent models, and privacy-preserving governance.

Abstract

The manual management of teacher journals, agendas, and student attendance in Indonesian vocational schools (SMK) often limits real-time information access for parents, resulting in one-way communication and limited academic transparency. This study aimed to develop and evaluate DIJAGA, a mobile-based academic information system integrating teacher journals, student attendance, and parental monitoring. The Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model was employed. The study involved one media expert, two content experts, 43 teachers, 124 parents, and attendance data from 180 students. Data were collected through expert validation, practicality and effectiveness questionnaires, and a one-group pretest-posttest attendance assessment. The results showed high validity, with mean Aiken's V values of 0.833 for media and 0.816 for content. DIJAGA was considered practical by 95% of teachers and 91% of parents, while the effectiveness score reached 80.41%. Student attendance increased from 87.22% to 92.05%, with a significant paired-samples t-test result, t(179) = 6.975, p < .05. The N-Gain score was 0.378 (moderate), and Cohen's d was 0.520 (moderate). These findings indicate that DIJAGA is a valid, practical, and potentially effective system for improving academic transparency, parental trust, communication, and student attendance. However, because the study used a one-group pretest-posttest design without a comparison group, the findings should be interpreted as exploratory evidence of feasibility rather than definitive causal evidence.
