Abstract

This review analyses the psychological effects of observing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on nursing students, highlighting a significant disparity between technical training and emotional readiness within nursing education. Despite thorough procedural guidance, students often encounter anxiety, helplessness, and trauma during resuscitation events, especially in cases with unfavourable outcomes or the presence of distressed family members. Such experiences can elicit somatic symptoms, feelings of guilt, and enduring professional self-doubt. Challenges encompass gaps in knowledge regarding current CPR protocols, difficulties in interprofessional communication, and personal trauma histories that may exacerbate psychological distress. The result showed there are 3 themes: Psychological and emotional Impact; CPR performance and clinical competence; Students-teachers relationship. Educational interventions must focus on enhancing technical competence and psychological resilience through pre-exposure preparation, structured debriefing, and the integration of coping strategies. Nursing programs can enhance student wellbeing and improve clinical performance and patient outcomes by implementing a comprehensive approach to resuscitation education that recognises the multifaceted effects of these experiences.

Abstract

Poor team communication is the most common cause of side effects in all aspects of health care. Non-compliance with the implementation of the surgical safety checklist is a form of poor team communication that can cause harm to patient safety. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between surgical team communication and compliance with the implementation of the surgical safety checklist. The research design used was a correlative analytical study with a cross- sectional approach with a total sampling technique with 42 respondents. The statistical test used in this study was the Spearman rank. The results showed that almost all respondents had good communication, and almost all respondents were compliant in implementing the SSC filling. From the results of the statistical test using Spearman's rank analysis H1 was accepted, which means that there is a relationship between surgical team communication and compliance with the implementation of the surgical safety checklist. The results of this study can be input if the team communication support is good, then compliance in the implementation of SSC filling will also increase. It is expected that IBS nurses can improve team communication by complying with the implementation of SSC filling.

Abstract

Completing nursing professional education has become a requirement for working as a clinician in a hospital. Unfortunately, many students were not motivated to pursue nursing professional education due to their negative perceptions about the nursing profession. This study aims to determine the correlation between students’ perceptions of the nursing profession and their motivation to continue nursing professional education in the eighth semester at Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan. This study employed a cross-sectional design, utilizing a simple random sampling technique, which yielded 114 respondents. This study was conducted in February 2020. The independent variable was students’ perceptions of the nursing profession, and the dependent variable was students’ motivation to continue nursing professional education. The instrument used for both variables was a closed questionnaire. The data was analyzed univariately and bivariately. The Spearman’s rank correlation test was used for bivariate analysis. The results indicated that the majority of students’ perceptions fell into the good category (71 students, 62.3%), while the motivation was categorized as moderate (59 students, 51.8%). On the other hand, Spearman’s rank correlation test yielded a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant correlation between students’ perceptions of the nursing profession and their motivation to pursue nursing professional education. Based on the results of this study, it is hoped that students will gain a deeper understanding of the nursing profession by seeking practical experience and participating in training, thereby becoming more motivated to continue their nursing education.

Abstract

Proficiency in English is essential for nursing students to communicate effectively in various contexts, yet many face challenges with English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in nursing. Traditional teaching methods often fail to connect theoretical learning with real-world clinical applications. Project-Based Learning (PjBL) has emerged as an effective strategy to bridge this gap by allowing students to work on real-world projects that are directly relevant to their clinical practice. This literature review investigates the effectiveness of PjBL in enhancing English language proficiency and clinical competence in nursing education. A comprehensive search of studies from 2022 to 2025 from Scopus and Google Schoolar was conducted across relevant databases, focusing on keywords such as "Nursing Students," "PjBL," "ESP," "Clinical Competence," and "Student Engagement." Thirteen articles met the inclusion criteria, demonstrating that PjBL improves critical skills such as communication, problem-solving, and clinical readiness. Furthermore, the integration of AI in PjBL supports personalised learning, further engaging students. While PjBL has proven effective in bridging the theory-practice gap, challenges remain, including issues related to language proficiency and ICT integration. Further research is needed to explore the long-term effects of PjBL and its ability to address these challenges. Nursing education should continue implementing PjBL, with additional studies examining the role of AI in enhancing learning outcomes.

Abstract

The number of older people with hypertension has grown, and they are more likely to experience a repeat. One of the main causes of this is a lack of family support. This study sought to ascertain the association between the prevalence of geriatric hypertension in the prolanis group at UPT Puskesmas Kalipare, Malang Regency, and family support. Correlation analysis with a cross-sectional technique was employed in the research design. There were 75 respondents in the population of PRB and Prolanis patients, and 63 respondents made up the sample. Random sampling was used in the sampling procedure. Hypertension was the dependent variable, and family support was the independent variable. Questionnaires and observations were employed to obtain data. According to the study's findings, the majority of participants (71.4%) experienced inadequate familial support.Instead of hypertension (28.6%), respondents reported having hypertension as much as 71.4%. Family support and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly in the prolanis group of UPT Puskesmas Kalipare, Malang Regency, were found to be related, as evidenced by the Spearman rank correlation test results, which showed a probability value (0.000) significantly lower than the significant standard of 0.05 or (pa). As a result, Ho was rejected and H1 was accepted. There was a very substantial correlation (p<0.001). Family support is crucial, particularly in the areas of emotion, knowledge, and assistance. Clients who receive this assistance may be able to overcome obstacles, boost their self-esteem, and receive consistent treatment. In order to prevent hypertension, health professionals at the Kalipare Health Center UPT, Malang Regency, must encourage the community to support families in controlling their diet and maintaining good health.

Abstract

Patient adherence to control schedules is key to successful chronic disease management. Non-adherence primarily caused by forgetfulness remains a major challenge in clinical practice. This study aimed to examine the association between the use of control reminder messages and patient adherence to follow-up appointments at Manguharjo’s Pulmonary Hospital. This quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional design involved 161 patients (N=161) using a convenience sampling technique. Data were collected from medical records regarding reminder reception and attendance status. The Chi-Square test results showed a highly significant association between reminder use and patient adherence (p < 0.001). The adherence rate in the group that received reminders was 64.6%, substantially higher than the non-reminder group (35.4%). It is concluded that reminder messages are an effective intervention to mitigate forgetfulness and should be formally integrated into the care system. The main limitation is the cross-sectional design. Prospective Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) are recommended to establish causality and optimize message format.
