Abstract

Education in the 21st century is undergoing major changes. Advances in technology and the demands of a globalised world mean that the way we learn and teach must change. The research method in this study uses literature. The results show that today, many schools are starting to use technology in the classroom. Teachers are also changing the way they teach so that students are more active learners. Students need to learn new skills to succeed in the future. Despite the progress, there are still many challenges. Not all students have access to technology. Many teachers need training to use new methods. The curriculum also needs to be updated. To overcome these problems, all parties must work together. The government, schools, teachers and parents need to come together to make education better. With joint efforts, we can create an education system that is ready for the future.

Abstract

This research analyses the criminal legal framework applied to mentally ill homicide offenders in several ASEAN countries. The aim is to understand how each country deals with these cases, and evaluate the differences and similarities in legal approaches and implementation of psychiatric evaluations. This research reveals that there is significant variation in the way ASEAN countries draft and implement criminal laws relating to mentally ill offenders. While the general principle that mentally ill offenders require special treatment is recognised, the study results indicate major differences in rehabilitation policies, use of psychiatric evaluations, and sentencing practices. These findings point to the importance of integrating more holistic and rehabilitation-focused policies to support the recovery and reintegration of mentally ill offenders into society.

Abstract

Indonesia’s political landscape has become significantly more open in recent decades, reflecting a maturing democratic system. Electoral competition among political actors is a logical consequence of democracy, and therefore, requires effective strategies to secure political victories. This descriptive qualitative study seeks to examine two key issues: (1) What political imagery is embedded in the use of campaign uniforms? and (2) What image is constructed through the continuous display of a party leader’s photograph during election campaigns? The study is based on recent and relevant secondary data that align with contemporary electoral phenomena. Findings suggest that in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) successfully employed a symbolic strategy through the use of campaign uniforms, which functioned as political attire throughout the campaign period. These uniforms carry significant semiotic value, symbolizing unity, multi-ethnicity, multiculturalism, and egalitarianism. Through this imagery, Jokowi cultivated a public persona as a democratic and inclusive leader. This visual strategy was further reinforced by the consistent display of the photograph of the PDIP chairperson, who was portrayed as both a unifying force within the party and a transformative figure in national politics. The presence of the party leader served as a political magnet within campaign communication, emphasizing both ideological and constitutional ties between the candidate and the party. The novelty of this study lies in the argument that political parties, beyond merely constructing a strong brand image, must also maintain voter brand loyalty in order to remain competitive in future elections.

Abstract

Occupational stress and burnout critically threaten healthcare professionals' (HCPs) well-being and patient care quality, a situation significantly exacerbated post-pandemic. Synthesizing contemporary risk factors is essential for effective interventions. This scoping review systematically maps empirical literature (January 2021-December 2025) identifying the multifactorial determinants of stress and/or burnout among doctors and nurses. Following PRISMA-ScR guidelines, PubMed and Wiley databases were searched. Data from 25 eligible primary research articles in English underwent narrative synthesis and thematic analysis. Analysis confirmed the complex, multifactorial nature of HCP stress/burnout. Four major interconnected themes of risk factors were identified: (1) Workload and Job Demands (quantitative overload like excessive hours, and qualitative pressures including high emotional/cognitive labor); (2) Organizational Factors and Resources (deficits like inadequate staffing/support, low job control, effort-reward imbalance, poor leadership/communication); (3) Individual Factors (demographics, health status, sleep quality, personality traits, coping strategies); and (4) Pandemic Context (unique stressors like infection fear, resource scarcity, ethical dilemmas). The findings highlight a critical interplay between demanding work conditions, inadequate organizational support, individual vulnerabilities, and crisis contexts, underscoring the need for multi-level interventions addressing systemic, organizational, and individual factors to mitigate HCP stress and burnout.

Abstract

In the field of education, educators and teachers play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of education. As a result, educational institutions require professionals who can effectively carry out their duties to achieve established goals. However, the situation of teachers in Indonesia still needs serious attention. One factor contributing to the low quality of education is that teachers do not always teach by their abilities. A key reason for this issue is the lack of a selective recruitment process, which fails to recognize the importance, role, and benefits of effective teacher recruitment. This study uses a qualitative, descriptive approach to explore various events, aspects, phenomena, and conditions within the research setting, drawing upon field knowledge. The findings indicate that the teacher recruitment system at SD IT Al-Wahdah Tojo Una-Una involves three main components: planning, strategy, and organization. The strategic stages of the recruitment process include conducting a teacher needs analysis, planning the requirements for teaching staff, disseminating information both internally and externally, screening applicants' documents, conducting oral interviews, calling selected candidates, and placing new teachers accordingly.

Abstract

The study investigates the challenges faced by EFL interpreting students of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG) in translating Indonesian to English, focusing on the impact of syntactic structures, grammatical accuracy, and lexical choices on interpretation clarity. Using Gile’s (2020) syntactic analysis model, the research analyzes students’ translations to identify common errors, including tense shifts, inconsistent pronoun usage, and unidiomatic phrasing. The findings reveal that these issues often result from differences between Indonesian and English sentence structure, and limited understanding of English idiomatic expressions. For example, errors such as translating gender-neutral pronouns inaccurately or misinterpreting tense and modal constructions distort the source message’s meaning. The study underscores the need for targeted training in syntactic analysis, idiomatic adaptation, and cross-linguistic processing to improve EFL students’ ability to produce accurate and fluent interpretations. This research contributes to the understanding of linguistic and cognitive challenges in EFL interpreting.

Abstract

This study explores translanguaging practices in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom communication based on the experiences and perspectives of three English Language Education Study Program (ELESP) lecturers from Universitas Negeri Gorontalo in Indonesia. Translanguaging, which involves the strategic use of students' native language alongside the target language, aims to enhance student comprehension in EFL learning. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the study finds that translanguaging strengthens students' understanding, confidence, and participation, particularly when dealing with complex material. However, challenges arise in balancing the use of English and the native language, as over-reliance on the native language may hinder long-term English fluency. This research contributes to understanding the effects of translanguaging in EFL teaching in Indonesia and provides recommendations for educational practitioners.

Abstract

Secondary education is three educational centers consisting of family, school and community educational environments which progressively and integrally develop responsibility for the development of children's theories about learning. The family environment is the first environment and is considered the foundation of a child's education, which is also the beginning of further education and has a very important role in personality development. School education has a foundation, objectives, content, methods and other requirements which are arranged systematically in the form of a curriculum and are considered the basis of science. In social education, children apply several educational and teaching theories taught in previous educational institutions. Children apply and participate in the social environment. The organization of educational centers greatly influences the development of children's learning theories, which are carried out in an integrated manner and can make children become complete and responsible individuals. Children have professional skills which are the most important capital for entering society. Therefore, the triple education center is a series of integrated systems in the implementation of the educational process, which can lead students to maturity, which can be useful for the motherland and the nation.
