Abstract

This foresight study aims to explore the role of the Education Quality and Accountability Unit in Jordan in enhancing student achievement monitoring and utilizing assessment results to inform educational policies, with a focus on regional (North, Central, South) and gender disparities. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach to provide a comprehensive understanding of school performance levels according to Indicators Five and Six of the Effective School framework. Data were collected from the Education Quality and Accountability Unit reports for the 2023/2024 academic year, providing reliable information on schools’ practices in monitoring student achievement and effectively using individual and cumulative assessment results to support learning and school development plans. Performance was analyzed by region, gender, and standard levels (Low, Medium, and High). The results indicated that the Central region achieved the highest performance levels in both indicators, reflecting systematic and effective assessment practices and higher teacher commitment to documentation and feedback. The North region recorded the lowest performance, highlighting challenges in assessment management and data utilization, while the South showed medium performance, reflecting partial implementation of assessment practices requiring further development. Additionally, female students outperformed males in most regions, indicating greater consistency in learning and assessment practices and higher adherence to self-assessment and assignments, emphasizing the need for interventions that address gender differences. Based on these findings, the study recommends strengthening support for low-performing schools, standardizing and developing assessment practices, effectively using assessment results to improve learning, addressing gender gaps, promoting data-driven decision-making, activating the role of the Education Quality and Accountability Unit, and developing evidence-based national policies to enhance educational quality and equity across Jordan

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the historical transformation of citizenship thought from the classical, modern, to contemporary eras, and to understand the dynamics of changes in the concept of citizenship alongside social, political, and intellectual developments. The objective of this study is to identify the philosophical and structural turning points that have shaped the understanding of citizenship. The main problem of this research lies in the lack of comprehensive studies that integrally discuss the evolution of citizenship across periods, thus necessitating a study capable of systematically explaining the continuities and shifts in ideas. The limitations of previous studies often separate historical periods, failing to capture the evolutionary narrative. The method used is a qualitative descriptive-historical approach with a literature study that examines the works of classical, modern, and contemporary thinkers, analyzed through content analysis and comparative analysis techniques to identify patterns of thought change. The results show that the classical era emphasized virtue, morality, and active participation in public life, while the modern era shifted the focus to individual rights, the social contract, and the legal status of citizens. In the contemporary era, the concept of citizenship has evolved to become more inclusive, global, and multicultural, and is significantly influenced by digitalization and transnational mobility. Overall, this research confirms that changes in citizenship thought reflect the dynamic relationship between the individual, the state, and the global community, and have important implications for developing adaptive, critical citizenship education that is relevant to global challenges.

Abstract

The constitution plays a fundamental role as the supreme law governing the structure and limitations of state power. In the context of Indonesia, the 1945 Constitution (UUD 1945) is the primary foundation, which is inseparable from the philosophical meaning of Pancasila. Pancasila holds a central position as the "source of all sources of law," binding the entire legal architecture and state practices. This research aims to provide an understanding of the systematic integration between Pancasila's values and the principles of constitutionalism within the Indonesian constitutional system. It focuses on understanding constitutionalism within the framework of Pancasila, the position of the 1945 Constitution, and the extent to which Pancasila's principles strengthen modern state governance practices. This research uses a qualitative approach with literature study and normative legal research methods. The data used includes the 1945 Constitution, Constitutional Court decisions, and academic literature. Analysis was conducted through qualitative content analysis to examine the internalization of Pancasila's values within the formal constitutional framework. The results show that Pancasila functions as a living philosophical foundation for the 1945 Constitution and the Indonesian constitutional system. Indonesian constitutionalism is a synthesis of universal values with the values of divinity, humanity, and social justice. Constitutional reforms post-1998 have strengthened the constitutional system, particularly the check and balance mechanisms. The actualization of Pancasila's values still faces challenges, such as interpretative ambiguity and inconsistencies between formal norms and practices in the field. Pancasila must be the primary reference in public policy formulation and state governance practices.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Caliph Al-Hakam II in advancing Islamic education in Cordova, Andalusia, during the golden age of Islamic civilization. Using a library research method and a qualitative approach, the findings indicate that Al-Hakam II made a substantial contribution to the development of knowledge through the establishment of the University of Cordova as a global intellectual center, the construction of a major library containing approximately 400,000 books, and the encouragement of translations of Greek and Latin works into Arabic. He also invited scholars from various regions to teach and engage in scholarly discussions, as well as provided free education for the community. His visionary policies transformed Cordova into the largest center of knowledge and culture in Europe in the tenth century CE, while simultaneously exerting a major effect on the rise of Western civilization. The leadership of Al-Hakam II demonstrates that education is the primary foundation for building an advanced Islamic civilization.

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to investigate the educational practice of Physical Education for Students with hearing impairments at Ambo Lazarist Catholic School. Researchers employed mixed methods, specifically embedded design. The populations of the study were 58 Students with hearing impairments, 1 physical education teacher, and 2 school principals. Comprehensive and purposive sampling were used. Data gathering instruments were questionnaire and structured interview. The findings of this study indicated that the level of identification, teaching strategies, and opportunities at Ambo Lazarist Catholic School for the Deaf for students with hearing impairments is low. No audiologist knew about identifying the magnitude of hearing impairment in Students with hearing impairment, and the teaching strategies of the school had some hindrances like rigidity in their teaching methods. Although there is a commitment to developing the educational practice of physical education for students with hearing impairment in this particular school, there is still work to be done in the future, like the school’s practice of identifying students with hearing impairment, which needs further attention among all stakeholders, and awareness-creation strategies that should be designed for families and other stakeholders so that they can support and encourage the practice of physical education for Students with hearing impairment.

Abstract

The research assessed the academic performance in General Biology 1 of the Grade 11 STEM students at a science high school in Bantayan Island, Cebu, using the developed hands-on laboratory activities for the following competencies: (a) explaining transport mechanisms in cells (diffusion, osmosis, facilitated transport, active transport) and (b) differentiating endocytosis and exocytosis. Results of the pretest showed 40% and 38% in the control and experimental groups, respectively; both did not meet expectations based on the national agency’s grading system. However, the post-test results of the experimental group increased to 91%, which exceeded the Outstanding threshold. Statistical analysis using a t-test revealed the following findings: (a) the conventional setup produced significant mean increases across multiple competencies in the control group (i.e., diffusion-.001, osmosis-.001, facilitated transport-.021, and active transport-001 in competency one), but the minimal increase in knowledge in exocytosis and endocytosis at .620 (competency 2) did not approach statistical significance, (b) the experimental group produced statistically significant mean increases (all at .001) demonstrating how well the hands- on method improved students’ comprehension of cellular transport systems. In the comparison between the mean gains of the two groups, there was a statistically significant difference, with the experimental group showing more considerable mean gains. Moreover, the five themes that emerged during interviews with selected students, supplemental and collaborative, developing practical skills and long-term memory, and time constraints, provided a foundation for the successful implementation of the study. Hence, hands-on laboratory activities for teaching cell transport mechanisms in senior high school Biology are recommended.
