Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of internalizing Islamic values in shaping the religious character of students. The internalization of Islamic values is a continuous process of instilling Islamic teachings and values through habituation, role modeling, and religious activities both within the school environment and in daily life. In the modern era, students require not only academic knowledge but also the formation of a religious character to possess good morals, discipline, responsibility, and behavior aligned with Islamic teachings. Therefore, the internalization of Islamic values plays a crucial role in developing students' religious character. The research problem in this study is: Is there an influence of internalizing Islamic values on the religious character of students at SMA Islam Kepanjen? Meanwhile, the objective is to analyze the influence of internalizing Islamic values on the religious character of students at SMA Islam Kepanjen. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires, documentation, and observation. The research sample was drawn from students using a non-probability sampling technique, specifically Accidental Sampling. Data were analyzed using normality tests, linearity tests, and simple linear regression analysis. The results of the regression analysis indicated a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, meaning that there is a significant influence of Islamic internalization values on the religious character of students at SMA Islam Kepanjen. Furthermore, based on the results of the simple linear regression equation, the regression equation obtained is Y = 49.34 + 0.48X, which shows a positive relationship between Islamic internalization values and students' religious character. Consequently, the better the internalization process of Islamic values implemented, the higher the religious character of the students.

Abstract

Learning motivation is a crucial determinant influencing student engagement in the overall learning process. This study aimed to investigate the influence of the home learning environment on students' learning motivation at MTs Nasruddin Dampit. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. Data were collected using a questionnaire developed based on the indicators of each variable, and subsequently analyzed using simple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics version 29.0. The results of the analysis revealed a significance value of 0.001 (α < 0.05), indicating that the home learning environment has a significant influence on students' learning motivation. The resulting regression equation, Y = 39.27 + 0.43X, indicates that an increase in the quality of the home learning environment is followed by an increase in students' learning motivation. These findings affirm that the availability of learning facilities, a supportive family relationship, and continuous emotional support are fundamental elements in building learning motivation and supporting students' academic success.

Abstract

The development of social media in the modern era has significantly transformed patterns of communication within society. Sarcastic remarks, harsh comments, and degrading expressions are often regarded as forms of humor or freedom of expression, even though such phenomena may lead to verbal bullying and the deterioration of communication ethics. This condition reflects a shift in social values that contrasts sharply with the Prophet Muhammad’s model of communication, which emphasized gentleness, wisdom, and respect for human dignity. One example of the Prophet’s educational communication can be found in the hadith containing the expression “ترب جبينه,” which was used as a subtle form of admonition without hurting the feelings of others. Based on this phenomenon, this study aims to examine the authenticity of the hadith narrated by al-Bukhārī no. 6031 and to analyze the educational values embedded within it. This research employs a library research method using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected from hadith compilations, hadith commentaries, and other relevant scholarly sources, then analyzed through sanad and matn criticism as well as a fiqh al-ḥadīth approach. The findings indicate that the hadith is classified as ṣaḥīḥ due to the support of multiple corroborating chains of transmission. The sanad is considered continuous, and most of the narrators are categorized as trustworthy (thiqah), although one narrator, Fulayḥ bin Sulaymān, remains disputed among scholars. Furthermore, the matn does not contradict the Qur’an or other authentic hadiths. This study concludes that the expression “ترب جبينه” does not represent an insult, but rather a form of ta‘rīḍ tarbawī that reflects the Prophet’s gentleness and ethical approach in educating his community.

Abstract

Character education based on religion is highly needed to cultivate a generation that is both intelligent and noble in character. An Islamic school culture serves as a means of instilling values through habits, rules, and traditions. The thoughts of Al-Ghazali, Ibn Khaldun, Ki Hajar Dewantara, and Thomas Lickona emphasize the need to combine knowledge, deeds, exemplary behavior, and collaboration among schools, families, and communities. Previous research indicates that routine religious activities strengthen religious awareness, discipline, honesty, responsibility, and tolerance. The challenges include differences in value application at home, diverse student backgrounds, time constraints, and the negative impacts of the external environment and digital media. The novelty of this study lies in the comprehensive mapping of the relationship between Islamic culture, character, and its supporting and inhibiting factors within a single framework. The method used is library research, which is described descriptively.

Abstract

The management of Islamic educational institutions in the modern era faces complex challenges that require a managerial approach that is not only technically effective, but also aligned with Islamic values and the social context of society. Therefore, a management model that is capable of integrating various approaches comprehensively is needed. This study aims to analyze four main approaches in Islamic educational management, namely the rational approach, the community figure approach, the cultural approach, and the opinion formation approach, as well as to examine their implications for the management of educational institutions. The research problems in this study include the characteristics of each approach and how their synergy can improve the effectiveness of Islamic educational institution management. The method used is qualitative research in the form of a literature study, sourced from relevant books and scientific journals, and analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results of the study show that the rational approach plays a role in creating a structured and data-based management system, while the community figure approach provides social legitimacy through charismatic leadership. The cultural approach functions to strengthen the internalization of Islamic values within the organizational culture, whereas the opinion formation approach contributes to building institutional image and public trust. The integration of these four approaches produces a holistic management model that not only improves organizational efficiency and effectiveness, but also strengthens the competitiveness, adaptability, and sustainability of Islamic educational institutions amid global dynamics.

Abstract

Teacher competence is one of the key factors in improving the quality of education in the 21st century. Rapid technological advancements, changing characteristics of students, and the increasing demand for innovative learning require teachers to possess adequate competencies, particularly pedagogical competence, to effectively implement the teaching and learning process. This study aims to examine students' perceptions of the importance of teacher competence, especially pedagogical competence, in addressing the challenges of 21st-century education, identify aspects of pedagogical competence that need to be developed, and analyze the role of pedagogical competence in supporting teacher professionalism. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 25 statements distributed to 16 students from the Education Study Program as respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of frequencies and percentages. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents selected Agree and Strongly Agree for all the indicators presented. These results indicate that students have positive perceptions of the importance of developing teacher competence, particularly pedagogical competence, as essential preparation for becoming professional teachers. Pedagogical competence is considered crucial for understanding students' characteristics, designing effective learning activities, managing classrooms, integrating educational technology, and enhancing the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process. Therefore, the development of teacher competence, especially pedagogical competence, should be continuously strengthened through university coursework, teaching practicum, and professional training programs to prepare prospective teachers to face the challenges of 21st-century education.
