Abstract

Social anxiety is a condition of an individual who experiences anxiety in a social environment. One of the developmental tasks of late adolescents is to establish mature relationships with peers, where self-disclosure is one of the factors that support the relation to run smoothly. The purpose of this quantitative research is to determine the relationship between social anxiety and self-disclosure among university “X” students. The hypothesis is that there’s a relationship between social anxiety and self-disclosure. The sample used was 106 people. The researcher used the SAS-A (Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents) by La Greca and Lopez (1998), which was translated into Indonesian by Rizkadina (2016), and the self-disclosure measuring tool made by Miranda (2021) based on Wheeless & Grotz (1976) theory. The results show there’s no significant relationship between social anxiety and self-disclosure. Future research is expected to consider other variables that may have a relationship with both variables.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the social presence that arises from turning on or turning off the camera on video conference on group problem solving ability. This study uses an experimental method with the instruments used are the Social Presence Scale and the Tower of Hanoi puzzle by measuring reaction time, latency, and the number of movements of the respondent group (N=79). The results indicated that there are no significant differences in social presence, reaction time, latency, and the number of movements between the group that turned on the camera and the group that turned off the camera (p>0.1). This result could be caused by differences in the tendency to actively argue, individual domination, and differences in knowledge about the problem. The implication of this study will be discussed later in this article.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is one of the deadliest diseases worldwide, including. According to Ethel (2016), HIV/AIDS causes many negative impacts, especially for infected individuals. Besides the decline in health aspects, PLWHA tend to get negative stigma and discrimination from the surrounding community. All those stigma and discrimination will indirectly add to the psychological burden which will eventually result in their difficulty in accepting their situation. Self-acceptance is a person's ability to accept themself, which is related to psychologically healthy conditions, having awareness, and full acceptance of who and what they are (Sari, 2018). Individuals who are able to accept themselves mean that individuals are also able to understand themselves, adjust to their environment, and are not afraid to look at themselves honestly. This paper is made to conduct a literature review of studies related to self-acceptance in people with HIV/AIDS. The descriptive literature review was conducted on 8 qualitative studies with varied sampling methods. The results of the literature review show that people with HIV/AIDS from various backgrounds have a fairly positive self-acceptance. This self-acceptance is described in various forms by each PLWHA. In addition, the phases that each PLWHA goes through and the supporting factors, as well as obstacles for PLWHA in accepting themselves are also quite diverse.
