Abstract

Nurses during the Corona Virus Disease-19 (Covid-19) pandemic are expected to be able to provide professional nursing services even with the risk of contracting and even becoming victims of Covid-19. Working in a hospital with current pandemic conditions causes nurses to experience psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety and stress. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and social support with psychological distress in nurses at "X" Hospital Bandung. The research was conducted using quantitative method with multiple regression analysis and the respondents involved were 233 nurses, both in the inpatient and outpatient departments. Data for psychological distress were obtained using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS 42) from Lovibond, S.H. & Lovibond, P.F. (1995), self-efficacy with the Generalized Self-efficacy scale (Schwarzer & Jerusalem, 1995) and social support using The Social Provision Scale (Cutrona & Russel, 1987). The results of the study show that the value of F = 6.403 with sig = 0.002. There is a negative relationship between social support and psychological distress, and there is also a negative relationship between self-efficacy and psychological distress. Based on the results of multiple regression, it was found that the higher the social support and self-efficacy, the lower the psychological distress experienced by nurses.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the role of communication quality and intimacy both jointly and partially on marital commitment in dual career couples in Serang Regency Regional Apparatus Organizations. This study uses Rusbult and Buunk's theory of marital commitment, 1993; in Arriaga & Agnew 2001), quality of communication in Montgomery (1981), and Schaefer and Olson (1981; in Weeks and Hof, 1995). This study used a quantitative method with 380 dual career husband/wife subjects in the Serang Regency Regional Apparatus Organization. The research data was processed using multiple regression and linear regression. Based on the analysis conducted in this study, it is known that: the quality of communication and intimacy together have a role in marital commitment (F = 35.508 ; R2 = 0.353 ; ρ < .05). Partial calculations show that the quality of communication and emotional intimacy have a role in marital commitment, while other variables do not have a role in marital commitment.

Abstract

Relationship flourishing demonstrates the existence of meaningful connectedness and activities that aim to help couples grow as individuals and couples. When individuals are happy and able to carry out their roles functionally, this will have a positive impact on the mental health of each family member (Fower, 2016). This study aims to examines whether there is a mechanism for the role of self-esteem on relationship flourishing in husband/wife with AIM and positivity factors as mediators. Data were collected through self-esteem, AIM, positivity and relationship flourishing questionnaires using google form. There are 252 husbands and wives who are participated in this study. Data analysis uses Model 4 of SPSS PROCESS (Hayes, 2018). The results show that self-esteem does not play a direct role in relationship flourishing and only positive emotions act as a mediator between self-esteem and relationship flourishing in husband/wife. Suggestions are discussed further in this study.

Abstract

Adults seeking treatment for stuttering presented a comorbid diagnosis of social anxiety. The development of social anxiety may be related to negative conditioning experiences from an early age regarding people’s responses when reacting to stuttering such as confusion, interrupting, mocking, distancing, or ignoring stuttering speech. Repeated exposure to negative social reactions causes people who stutter to form beliefs that negative evaluations will occur in all social situations. The high level of social anxiety is more concerning given the data showing that increased anxiety can increase the frequency of stuttering. The purpose of group therapy with Cognitive Behavior Therapy is to reduce social anxiety and negative thoughts related to social anxiety in stuttering adults. The method used is a quantitative method supported by qualitative data from interviews. The results showed a decrease in social anxiety and negative thoughts in the group’s average score after undergoing therapy. In addition, there were changes in behavior, thoughts, and feelings after the session as evidenced from the follow-up interview a month after the end of therapy.

Abstract

This study is intended to conduct a scoping review of the application of social network analysis (SNA) in predicting political participation in Indonesia, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. The literature shows that investigations into political participation are not new in Indonesia. However, research that uses the application of SNA as an approach to explain the behavior of political participation in Indonesia is still very rare. For this reason, a scoping review is needed to provide an overview of political participation using a social network lens. The scoping review implementation was guided by Arksey and O'Malley's 5-step framework. The results of the scoping review show that the political participation among Indonesians is considered at a sufficient level, especially at the regional level. However, investigations of political participation using the SNA method are shown to be very rare. This research is useful for showing topics that can be explored in the social and political fields, especially by using the individual social network approach.

Abstract

The emergence of the internet in the current era has transformed the paradigm of students in their interactions, learning, and even coordinating collective actions. The Internet provides convenience in the exchange of ideas and information, as well as facilitating fast, easy, and accessible communication for various segments of society. New forms of social interaction through the internet have enriched both personal and social life on a broader scale. However, despite the significant constructive potential of the internet, there is another aspect that needs attention. The internet has the potential to reinforce communication behaviors that are inappropriate, less suitable, or even unrestricted, often referred to as the "toxic disinhibition online effect" (Suler, 2004; Lapidot-lefler & Barak, 2012). When students interact in social media connected to the internet, they may exhibit signs of a lack of self-control, where a lack of understanding of relevant social signals and disregard for rules and barriers in online interactions become the main factors in the emergence of this effect. This finding is reinforced by Joinson's research (2004), which revealed differences in individual behavior in the online and offline worlds, even in similar situations. This research was conducted to explore the relationship between the level of self-control and the "toxic disinhibition online" effect on students who actively use social media. Measurement was carried out using the Toxic disinhibition online effect scale and the Self-control scale. The research involved 154 student respondents, with the majority (86%) of them being female. A total of 50.6% of the respondents had a high level of self-control. However, the results of statistical analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between self-control and the "toxic disinhibition online" effect (p = 0.604, r = -0.042), with the significance value exceeding the 95% confidence level. In conclusion, this research did not find a significant relationship between self-control and the "toxic disinhibition online" effect among students using social media. These findings provide additional insights into student online behavior and its implications for self-control in the digital context. All of these findings contribute to understanding the role of the internet in the development of social and individual behavior in the digital age.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Brain Respiration on reducing stress in mothers working from home (WFH). Brain Respiration is a powerful technique to energize the brain because it can regulate emotions that can reduce stress. Fifteen people joined the experimental group and the rest control group. Mothers who were members of the experimental group got Brain Respiration while the control group did not. A biofeedback device measured the degree of stress through electrodermal activity (EDA). The results obtained show that there are differences in the degree of stress in the form of a decrease in the degree of stress in WFH mothers who are included in the experimental group after being given Brain Respiration (T-count = 12, and T-table = 25. If T-count < T-table then H0 rejected). There are also differences in the degree of stress in WFH mothers included in the experimental group and the control group (the results of U-count = 31.5 and U-table = 72). The conclusion can be drawn is that Brain Respiration can reduce stress in WFH mothers.
