Abstract

Students tends to be test-anxious because they do not believe in their ability. This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy on students' test anxiety in X University Bandung. The respondents are 380 active undergraduate students at X University Bandung who were recruited through snowball sampling. The result of linear regression analysis concluded that self-efficacy has a negative and significant effect on students' test anxiety in 'X' University Bandung (B = -0.752, R2 = 0.339, p = -0.482). 33.90% of the students' test anxiety could be explained by their self-efficacy while 66.10% is influenced by other variables that are not examined in this study. Interventions are suggested to be given to the students to increase their self-efficacy thus they would no longer feel anxious during exams. Further research is suggested to use other sampling techniques and examine the determinants and sources of self-efficacy and test anxiety.

Results from 11 journals showed that the training was effective in reducing levels of anxiety and depression. The effect size score is -1.38 (95% CI -1.837 - -0.925, p value = <0.05) with I2 (inconsistency) 90.95%. These results indicate that Emotion Regulation Training is effective for reducing anxiety and depression levels.

Abstract

Divorce is a significant event in the growth of a family. When divorce occurs, it not only affects the parents but also has an impact on the children. The occurrence of divorce negatively affects the development of children, particularly during adolescence. Furthermore, experiencing parental divorce leads adolescents to question their self-worth, resulting in the formation of low self-esteem, which in turn disrupts the development of peer attachment with their peers, as adolescents perceive themselves in a diminished light. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the influence of self-esteem on peer attachment. The subjects of this study are adolescents (aged 10-18 years) with divorced parents in Bandung City. The research method employed is quantitative. In this study, the researcher utilized the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (Armsden & Greenberg, 1987) and the Self-esteem scale (Rosenberg, 1965), which were translated into Indonesian. IPPA consists of 25 items measuring peer attachment, with each scale comprising three aspects: trust, communication, and alienation. Meanwhile, the self-esteem scale consists of 10 items. The responses to both questionnaires (IPPA and self-esteem) will be analyzed using the linear regression method to determine the influence of self-esteem on peer attachment. The test results indicate a significance value of 0.030 (≤ 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that self-esteem is related to peer attachment among adolescents with divorced parents in Bandung City.

Abstract

This study is a theoretical review that discusses volunteering from psychological, physiological, and cultural aspects. Volunteering is any activity that allocates free time, materials, and energy to other people, groups, or organizations. Volunteers give their time, materials, and energy in many ways. Volunteering became popular in various countries, including Indonesia, with the highest level of volunteering worldwide. Cultural factors (collectivistic vs individualistic) influence volunteering, although there are still inconsistent results. Furthermore, religiosity and levels of social trust contribute to volunteering. Physiological processes such as genetic, hormonal, and neurobiological underlie prosocial behavior. The interaction of these things impacts psychological aspects such as the expression of positive emotions and well-being, regardless of various age ranges. The benefits felt by volunteers are that they have better mental health and health conditions than non-volunteers. Considering the many benefits of volunteering activities, it is expected that there will be persuasive steps involving various stakeholders to invite more people to get involved in all forms of volunteer activities, individual and collective.

Abstract

Attention distraction test (ADT) is a tool that measures attention. ADT has lights in form of a box which can be adjusted how many lights can be turned on. The distraction of this test comes in form of the presence of other lights around the targeted lights. The aim of this study is to test the software implementation of attention and distraction test.  Importance of the study are ADT limitations in variation of the distraction and recording the answer.  ADT goes through two stages, first is testing all devices function.  Second, design will be tested on respondents to analyze the results. If improvements are still needed, design and improvements will be made. Results show software can be used properly to measure a person's attention level. If respondent  answer correctly and the reaction time is faster, it means that respondent has a better level of attention. Suggestions is to add respondent personal background, alternative colors of distraction lights and complete the data recap with sum of the correct answers and average time reaction.

Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural country that refers to the diversity of tribes, races, religions and beliefs. This study aims to enrich the development findings by providing psychometric information on the Munroe Multicultural Attitude Scale Questionnaire (MASQUE) using the Model Rasch perspective. This also introduces the application of the Model Rasch in analyzing the validity of the Munroe Multicultural Attitude Scale Questionnaire (MASQUE). This instrument has three aspects, namely (1) Knowledge, (2) Concern, and (3) Action and has a total of 18 items. Respondents used in this study were 210 students who were taken using simple random sampling method. The results of data analysis using the Model Rasch show that the Indonesian version of the MASQUE instrument has items that are fit and have quite a variety of item difficulty levels, but adjustments need to be made in order to facilitate a more varied personability and items that are spread out in more appropriate aspects.

Abstract

The same characterization found in maladaptive perfectionism and self-criticism, namely target-oriented and self-judgment when the target is not achieved. Both are also associated with stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms and are therefore seen as negative. This meta-analysis study conducted using secondary data through previous studies that were reviewed with the aim of seeing the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions to reduce maladaptive perfectionism and self-criticism. A total of 10 articles were selected for the meta-analysis, which were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Participants varied from primary and secondary school students, and adults (18 years or above) with various characteristics, such as college students and patients. This research resulted in mindfulness interventions being less effective for reducing maladaptive perfectionism and self-criticism, with possibilities for further research with moderators or more research involved in the future.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the dynamics of parental acceptance and altruism in married couples who adopt children with special needs. This research was conducted using a qualitative design with a case study method on a single case. The informant selection technique used was a nonprobability sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. Informants were selected by paying attention to 4 things, namely being a married couple, having an adopted child with special needs with the classification of a child with undiagnosed special needs, having an adoption age of around 8 months and still being cared for and currently not having biological children. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation and in-depth interviews. The examination technique to test the validity of the data in this research was carried out using the credibility test, transferability test, dependability test and confirmability test. The results of this research show that husband and wife couples, in their efforts to build parental acceptance of children with special needs who are adopted, encounter various challenges and difficulties caused by the various limitations of children with special needs. In facing the dynamics of parental acceptance, married couples work together and make various sacrifices to create complete acceptance for children with special needs which is illustrated by achieving 4 aspects of parental acceptance according to Hurlock, namely communication, attention and affection, parental involvement and trust in children. The sacrifice shown is based on the altruistic factors of each partner which Rushton explains into 5 factors, namely feelings, empathy, religiosity, interpersonal relations and social norms.
