Abstract

This study aims to get self-construal description among Indonesian student. Indonesia has collectivitic culture which group conformity is important in society. When collectivistic culture internalized into way of seeing self, it will form interdependent self-construal. This study used a sample of 521 Indonesian students with a non-probability sampling technique who registered as student, Indonesian citizens, live in Indonesia and willing to fill out questionnaire. The instrument used in this study was translated from Singelis's Self-Construal questionnaire (1994). The result of data analysis using Wilcoxon test showed that Indonesian students have equal independent and interdependent self-construal (Z = -0,712, sig = 0,477). It can be concluded that Indonesian students see themselves as a separate part and an integrated part with others. This study can be used as a base for further research and give information that Indonesian students internalize collectivistic and individualistic culture as a way of seeing themselves. Abstract

This research aims to get a description of strength-based parenting (SBP) on college students. The topic of parenting has been widely researched by experts. One of the parenting theories that is currently being developed from a positive psychological approach is strength-based parenting (SBP). The research about SBP, especially in Indonesia, is still limited. This research was conducted on 94 students of the Faculty of Psychology at "X" University by filling out a questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 14 items designed by Lea Waters (2017) using a Likert scale. All items are valid with validity values from 0.316 to 0.636. The reliability value of the questionnaire was 0.914 so it is reliable. Data analysis techniques using frequency distribution. This study obtained that 71% of college students appreciate the SBP conducted by their parents is in the high-use category. So, it can be said that most parents already know college students’ strengths and encourage them to use these strengths in their daily lives. The benefits of this research can be used as a basis for other researchers to research on SBP. Also, parents are expected to be able to use this research as a basis to help themselves to do parenting based on SBP. Keywords: Parenting, Positive Psychology, Strength-based Parenting

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of student well-being and school climate on the academic achievements of "X" foundation junior high school students from grades 7, 8, and 9 in Bandung. This study involved 793 students. The measuring instrument used consisted of two questionnaires, namely Student well-being questionnaire and school climate questionnaire. Academic achievement are obtained through the average midterm grade 2019/2020. Data processing with Multiple Regression test. The results showed that student well-being and school climate had a significant role (F = 7.971, sig =0.000) both together and separately for achievement. Students with many successful experiences, close relationships, feeling accepted, and having endurance will be able to produce high academic achievement. School is a vehicle that is expected to create a conducive learning environment for students. Keywords: Student well-being, school climate, academic achievement, junior high school students

Abstract

Prisoners are one of the vulnerable groups who experience psychological problems. Conditions in prisons, limited activities, and deprivation of freedom give rise to psychological problems in prisons, which affect the low meaning of life. The low meaning of life can lead to erroneous meaning for prisoners of drug abuse. Prisoners can think that drug use and drug addiction behavior are the only positive aspects of their lives. The purpose of providing Logotherapy intervention with the Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy technique for prisoners of narcotics abuse in Prison “X” is to increase the meaning of life in prisoners, which is done by inviting inmates to determine the meaning of life through sources of meaning life. The method used in this study is a quantitative method supported by qualitative data derived from observations and interviews. The results showed an effect of giving Logotherapy intervention on the level of meaningfulness of life in the subject. Keywords: Logotherapy, meaning in life, narcotics prisoners

Abstract

Children of clergy live in a complex and unique family context. They have different expectations from society compared to non-clergy children which results in a lot of internal pressures for them. Clergy children are expected to behave like what their parents teach in the church. Mistakes and failures they made are considered their parents’ mistakes and failures, and this also give them more pressure from their own family. All of these could lead the children of clergy to behave the opposites of what expected from them and might result in negative self-concept. The purpose of this study is to examine self-concept of both clergy and non-clergy children of adult age in Indonesia. Data was collected using Tennessee Self Concept Scale (TSCS) which were given online to 235 clergy and non-clergy children in Indonesia age 18-40 years old. Using Student’s T-test to analyze the data, the result revealed that there are no significant differences of self-concept between clergy and non-clergy children (t = 0,391; p > 0,05). Abstract

The presence of childern being God’s gift to parents and family. Parents are responsible for protect and take care of their child. However sometimes it might beyond expectation, disturbance occur such as mental retardation. This makes the responsibility of parents extra and bring difficult situation as well as parenting stress experience. Hence, efforts to handle the stress of parenting for children with mental retardation are needed because of the presence of parents to help meet their limitations. Active coping can be an effort to actively find ways to overcome the influence of the source of pressure. The aims of this article writing to determine the effectiveness of active coping with stress parenting with mental retardation children. This article is based on literature and journal from several sources such as Garuda Portal, Google Scholar. The results of the literature review revealed that there was a positive relationship between parenting stress and mentally retarded children and the right effort to reduce parenting stress was active coping. There are various forms of active coping, namely the ability in problem solving skills, reducing pressure, self-acceptance and support. In that way, parents will be helped in reducing the difficulty of parenting mental retardation children with active coping which focused on behavioral patterns and cognitive. Limited research that has been done in providing knowledge related to handling stress of parenting mental retardationd children illustrates that the positive attitude of parents in an attempt to reduce the level of parenting stress by selecting active coping is the right effort. Taking active handling steps or solving problems will make the stressful conditions of parenting gradually lessen. Abstract

This meta-analysis study aims to see how the true correlation between self-efficacy and academic performance. Publications in the literature are gathered by investigating articles related to the theme. Based on the criteria set by researcher from 15 journals which are the results of research from the period 2006 to 2020, 16 studies were found in the analysis. Journal searches are obtained through an online data base. Data analysis was performed using 2 meta-analysis techniques for artifact data, namely correction of sampling errors and correction of measurement errors. The meta-analysis was carried out with a total sample size of N = 5039. The results of the meta-analysis show that self-efficacy has a positive correlation with academic performance of 0,399. Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of intolerance of uncertainty on the level of depression of individuals aged 18 to 29 years (emerging adulthood). The participants in this research are 206 people who lives in Jakarta. This research is conducted with a quantitative approach. The level of intolerance of uncertainty (IU) is measured with the IUS-12 scale, while the level of depression is measured with the BDI-II. The role of IU to depression are obtained through linear regression test. The result shows that IU has a significant role (F = 42,645; sig. = 0,000) to depression on the individual aged 18-29 years. Furthermore, the result also show that the prospective IU is the dimension that has a significant role to depression. Keywords: depression, intolerance of uncertainty, emerging adulthood

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the correlation between parental support and career adaptability among highschool students in Jakarta. This study hypothesized that there was a positive correlation between parental support and career adaptability among highschool students in DKI Jakarta. 195 senior high school students aged 15-18 years participated in this study derived from purposive sampling. This study was a quantitative approach used parental support scale and Career Adapt-Ability Scale (CAAS). The data was analyzed with Spearman Correlation. The result showed r= 0,257 (p = 0,001<0,05) which means there was a positive correlation between between parental support and career adaptability among highschool students in DKI Jakarta. Some suggestions through this research are to examine other variables that contribute more, see the contribution between variables and modify the measuring instrument according to the student's circumstances. Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the dimensions of calling and career adaptation in high school teachers "X" Foundation Bandung. Through the purposive sampling technique, we collected 66 teachers that worked for at least one year. The age range of teachers ranged from 24-67 years, and more than half were male. The measuring instruments used are the Calling and Vocation Questionnaire (CVQ) and the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale Short-Form (CAAS-SF), which have good reliability scores. Data processing with Pearson correlation analysis found that the dimensions presence of calling and career adaptability were significantly positively correlated. The results show that teachers who believe that work is a calling will be easier to adapt to changes and challenges in their work. Therefore, the school can encourage teachers to maintain and improve their calling to adapt well to their work. Keywords: Presence of Calling, Search for Calling, Career Adaptability, Teachers
