Abstract

Background: Skin photoaging is driven predominantly by ultraviolet-induced oxidative stress, resulting in wrinkles, pigmentation, loss of elasticity, and skin barrier dysfunction. Topical antioxidants have been proposed as both preventive and corrective interventions; however, the clinical evidence remains fragmented. Objective: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of topical antioxidants for the prevention and treatment of skin photoaging. Methods: A systematic search of PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and the Cochrane Library was conducted through August 2025 following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Randomized controlled trials, controlled clinical trials, and prospective interventional studies involving adults with photoaged skin were included. The risk of bias was assessed using RoB 2.0 and ROBINS-I. Of the 1,740 identified records, 23 studies met the eligibility criteria. Results: Vitamin C, vitamin E, ferulic acid, niacinamide, bakuchiol, and plant-derived antioxidants significantly improved wrinkles, pigmentation, skin hydration, and skin elasticity. Combination formulations, particularly vitamin C–vitamin E–ferulic acid serums, demonstrated enhanced efficacy, whereas bakuchiol achieved wrinkle reduction comparable to that of retinol with better tolerability. Topical antioxidants also showed benefits in the management of melasma, postprocedural recovery, and actinic keratosis, with adverse events generally limited to mild, transient irritation. However, heterogeneity in study design, antioxidant formulations, and follow-up duration limited direct comparisons across studies. Conclusion: Topical antioxidants are effective and well-tolerated interventions for skin photoaging, supporting their integration into long-term dermatologic practice. Further large-scale, standardized clinical trials with longer follow-up periods are required to strengthen the evidence.

Abstract

Background: The pervasive secular-modern paradigm in higher education has created a severe epistemological dichotomy between empirical science and religious doctrine, contributing to a crisis of meaning and future anxiety among university students. Objective: This study aims to conceptually develop a novel curriculum architecture that synthesizes modern data hierarchies with Islamic epistemology to cultivate existential resilience. Methods: Employing an integrative literature review approach, this research systematically evaluated multidisciplinary texts across theology, psychology, and educational management utilizing an iterative thematic synthesis to construct a cohesive pedagogical framework. Results: The findings reveal that integrating the data, information, knowledge, and wisdom hierarchy with classical Islamic intellects transforms mechanical learning into profound spiritual wisdom. This integration serves as a robust meaning-making system, generating Tawhidic Resilience, which acts as a divinity-based psychological fortitude. By reframing scientific inquiry as a transcendental spiritual instrument, students develop positive religious coping mechanisms that suggest potential to support the mitigation of psychological distress and moral neuroticism. The discussion highlights the necessity of shifting educators' roles toward spiritual mentorship and emphasizes the implementation of interdisciplinary project-based learning. Conclusion: The study concludes that addressing the psychological vulnerabilities of modern learners requires a holistic curriculum paradigm shift centered on the IHSAN Model and Tawhidic Resilience framework. The proposed model provides a critical theoretical foundation for institutionalizing integrated curricula, enabling Islamic higher education to produce graduates who are both intellectually competent and spiritually resilient.

Abstract

Background: Heart failure (HF) remains a major global health burden associated with high morbidity and mortality. Conventional biomarkers, such as B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), have limited diagnostic performance because they do not fully capture the molecular complexity of HF. Integrating multi-omics data with artificial intelligence (AI) may improve the identification of novel diagnostic biomarkers. Objective: This study aimed to identify novel diagnostic biomarkers for HF by integrating transcriptomic and proteomic datasets using AI-assisted machine learning. Methods: Public transcriptomic and proteomic datasets from patients with HF and healthy controls were integrated in an in silico bioinformatics study. Differential expression analysis was performed to identify dysregulated genes and proteins, followed by Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment, and protein–protein interaction (PPI) network analyses. Candidate biomarkers were prioritized using Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO), Random Forest, and Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost). Diagnostic performance was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Results: Multi-omics integration identified 1,247 differentially expressed genes, 186 differentially expressed proteins, and 42 overlapping molecules. Enrichment analyses indicated significant involvement in cardiac remodeling, inflammation, oxidative stress, energy metabolism, and calcium signaling. Five hub biomarkers (NPPB, ATP2A2, IL6, PPARGC1A, and TGFB1) were consistently selected by all machine learning models. Individual biomarkers achieved area under the ROC curve (AUC) values ranging from 0.88 to 0.94, whereas the combined five-biomarker panel achieved an AUC of 0.97, with 92.4% sensitivity and 90.1% specificity. Conclusion: AI-assisted multi-omics integration identified five biologically relevant biomarkers with excellent diagnostic performance, providing a promising foundation for future HF diagnostics and precision cardiology.

Abstract

Background: The Carpal Tunnel Syndrome-6 (CTS-6) is a brief clinical scoring instrument used to assess the primary symptoms and signs of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Before being used in Bahasa Indonesia, the instrument must undergo linguistic adaptation and content validity assessment to ensure that each item remains relevant and consistent with the clinical construct being measured. Objective: To develop the Indonesian version of the CTS-6 and evaluate its content validity. Methods: The adaptation process was conducted through forward translation, translation synthesis, expert content validity assessment, pretesting and discussion, backward translation, and finalization. Content validity was assessed by three neurologists using the Content Validity Index (CVI) with a 4-point relevance scale. Results: All six CTS-6 items received relevance ratings of 3 or 4 from all three experts. The Item-Level Content Validity Index (I-CVI) for all items was 1.00, while both the Scale-Level Content Validity Index based on the Average method (S-CVI/Ave) and the Scale-Level Content Validity Index based on Universal Agreement (S-CVI/UA) were 1.00. Editorial and operational revisions were made without altering the core concept of any item. Conclusion: The Indonesian version of the CTS-6 demonstrated excellent content validity and may serve as a foundation for the use of a concise clinical scoring instrument for assessing carpal tunnel syndrome. Further studies are needed to evaluate its reliability and other psychometric properties.
