Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of the principal in developing the talents and interests of students with special needs (SEN), to identify the programs provided for talent and interest development, and to examine their implementation at school. Efforts to enhance the abilities of SEN students face several challenges, particularly the limited availability of facilities and learning aids to support the development of each student's potential. This research employed a qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the development of talents and interests at Sekolah Luar Biasa (Special School) Negeri Muara Bulian is primarily focused on practical skills designed to foster students’ abilities and prepare them for greater independence. Various skill-based programs have been implemented, including batik-making, gift arrangement, culinary arts, singing, and dancing. These programs aim to provide SEN students with not only academic enrichment but also practical competencies tailored to their potential, enabling them to be more empowered in daily life and future endeavors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of reference services at the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) Library of Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. The research focuses on how the reference service management is implemented as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence its effectiveness. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that the management of reference services at the UPT Library of UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi still encounters several challenges, particularly in terms of limited human resources and inadequate facilities in the reference room. These limitations affect the overall quality and effectiveness of the services provided, which are expected to be a key pillar in supporting the academic information needs of the university’s community. To address these issues, the library has implemented strategies such as increasing the number of trained librarians and staff, as well as improving reference room facilities to make them more representative and responsive to users’ needs. These efforts are expected to enhance service quality, expand access to information, and foster a stronger culture of academic literacy within the university environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of the Dormitory Management Institution (LA_PASMA) at Ma’had Al-Jami’ah, State Islamic University Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, as a strategic instrument for character building and foreign language competency enhancement among students. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including observation, documentation, and interviews. Data analysis follows Miles and Huberman’s model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that LA_PASMA management encompasses key components such as recruitment procedures, governance criteria, legality, organizational structure, and program implementation mechanisms. This management model contributes to producing graduates with integrity, competence, and global competitiveness. The study provides theoretical implications for Islamic education management literature and practical implications for dormitory administration in higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of Smoke-Free Areas (KTR) based on Islamic educational values at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu as an effort to build a healthy, orderly, and sustainable academic environment. The research approach uses a descriptive qualitative method through interviews, observations, and document studies involving campus leaders, lecturers, the Green Campus implementation team, and participants in the Ecotheology and Curriculum of Love Socialization and Workshop activities. The results of the study indicate that institutional readiness is supported by formal regulations, a clear organizational structure, leadership commitment, and collaborative networks between campus units and external parties. The impact of implementing KTR includes an increase in a more disciplined academic culture, a healthier learning environment, reinforcement of religious values, and the growth of ecological awareness among the academic community. However, its implementation still faces challenges such as resistance from some students, limited supporting facilities, lack of socialization, and inconsistency in supervision. This study emphasizes that the success of smoke-free areas (KTR) in Islamic universities depends on the integration of health values, institutional governance, and character education, making it a relevant and sustainable model for implementing a Green Campus.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of Qur’anic interpretation from classical tafsir traditions to contemporary interpretive approaches and to examine its implications for strengthening Islamic education management. Social, cultural, and institutional changes increasingly require Islamic educational institutions to manage education in an adaptive manner while maintaining fidelity to the normative foundations of the Qur’an. This research employs a qualitative approach through library-based study, supported by thematic analysis of classical exegetical literature, contemporary hermeneutical studies, and recent scholarly works in the field of Islamic education management. The findings indicate that shifts in Qur’anic interpretive methodologies exert a significant influence on curriculum development, instructional strategies, leadership decision-making, and quality assurance systems within Islamic education. Thematic and contextual approaches to Qur’anic interpretation enable a more systematic integration of Qur’anic values with the demands of modern education. This study concludes that the transformation of Qur’anic interpretation plays a strategic role in constructing Islamic education management that is relevant, sustainable, and responsive to contemporary challenges.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of strategic management in enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of Pondok Pesantren Nurul Ittihady Tangerang, which adopts a zero tuition fee education model. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The analysis employed SWOT, PESTEL, and Porter’s Five Forces frameworks to examine the institution’s strategic positioning. The findings reveal that the pesantren applies a social cost leadership strategy combined with curriculum differentiation integrating Islamic values, foreign language mastery (Arabic, English, and Mandarin), and digital entrepreneurship. Institutional sustainability is supported by targeted digital marketing, volunteer educators, and funding from leadership-owned business units and community donations. However, financial vulnerability remains due to dependence on personal funding sources, limited financial formalization, and land tenure risks. This study recommends strengthening financial governance, diversifying funding sources, and pursuing permanent asset acquisition to ensure long-term sustainability. The findings offer strategic insights for urban Islamic boarding schools seeking to balance affordable education with institutional resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal’s strategies in improving educational facilities and infrastructure at Nurul Khoir Private Junior High School in Jambi City. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and educational staff. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the school’s facilities and infrastructure are still limited, particularly in learning-support facilities such as laboratories, sports fields, and parking areas. The main constraints faced by the school include limited financial resources and inadequate availability of educational facilities. The principal’s strategies to address these challenges include priority-based planning, stakeholder involvement in management processes, and optimization of existing facilities. This study concludes that the principal’s leadership plays a crucial role in the effective management and development of educational facilities and infrastructure, especially in private schools with limited resources.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the principal’s leadership styles in improving the discipline of educational staff at Madrasah Aliyah Laboratory Jambi. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the principal applied a situational leadership approach by combining democratic, laissez-faire, and authoritarian leadership styles. Among these, democratic leadership was the most dominant and effective in enhancing staff discipline. The main challenges included commuting distance, welfare issues, kinship relationships, and individual character differences. To address these challenges, the principal implemented a reward and punishment system. This study concludes that adaptive and contextual leadership plays a crucial role in improving the discipline of educational staff in Islamic secondary education institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal’s management in developing the library service system at Senior High School 4 Tebo. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed in this research. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings indicate that the principal has implemented management functions in library management, including strategic planning, service organization, program implementation, and evaluation of collection development and library layout. However, the development of the library service system has not been fully optimized due to limitations in human resource competencies, technological infrastructure, and budget availability. This study emphasizes that the effectiveness of school library service development is strongly influenced by the principal’s managerial leadership that is adaptive, aligned with national standards, and oriented toward improving educational quality and strengthening the school literacy culture.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of academic supervision by the principal in improving teachers’ pedagogical competence at SMP Negeri 9 Sarolangun. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings indicate that academic supervision was conducted systematically through planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up stages. The planning stage was based on instructional needs and teachers’ readiness in preparing learning instruments. The implementation involved various supervision techniques, including checking instructional documents, classroom visits, observation, and teaching assessment. Evaluation was carried out objectively and dialogically, followed by follow-up actions such as coaching and recommendations for instructional improvement. Continuous academic supervision was found to contribute significantly to enhancing teachers’ pedagogical competence and improving the quality of learning. This study emphasizes the strategic role of principals as academic supervisors in supporting teachers’ professional development.
