Abstract

This study discusses the concept of tazkiyatun nafs as a process of spiritual purification in Islamic teachings and its role in preventing psychosomatic disorders among santri in Islamic boarding schools. This study is motivated by the importance of maintaining a balance between mental and physical health amid various psychological pressures experienced by santri, such as academic demands, environmental adaptation, and social dynamics within pesantren. The research employed a qualitative method using a literature study approach through the examination of Islamic literature and modern psychological theories. The findings indicate that the practices of tazkiyatun nafs, including dhikr, muhasabah, repentance, patience, and self-control, play an important role in maintaining the emotional and spiritual stability of santri. These practices function not only as forms of worship but also as efforts to control stress and anxiety that may trigger psychosomatic disorders. In addition, the religious and disciplined environment of pesantren supports the development of santri’s overall mental health. Therefore, the integration of Islamic spiritual approaches and modern psychology can become a preventive solution in maintaining the balance between the soul and the body of santri.

Abstract

SMP Islam Gandusari in Trenggalek Regency faces challenges related to educational quality, as evidenced by fluctuations in teacher attendance and disparities in student competency achievement. This study aims to explore how the development of a performance-based organizational culture can improve teacher discipline, teacher performance, and learning quality at the school. The research focuses on the characteristics of the performance culture before and after the intervention, the impact of the performance culture on teachers and students, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The study employs a qualitative approach through field-based case study research. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with the principal, teachers, and educational staff, as well as analysis of school documents. This approach enables a contextual understanding of work culture practices, internal interactions, and organizational dynamics that influence educational quality. The findings indicate that the implementation of a performance-based organizational culture at SMP Islam Gandusari enhanced teacher discipline and productivity through clear performance standards, reward and punishment mechanisms, routine supervision, and consistent team collaboration. Learning quality improved through more varied instructional methods, the use of digital media, and increased student active participation. The quality of school administrative services also became more orderly, efficient, and responsive, strengthening institutional accountability and community satisfaction. The success of the implementation was shaped by visionary leadership, teacher commitment, and support from the school committee and the broader community, while resistance to change, limited access to digital facilities, and administrative workload remained significant barriers.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools in the millennial era face the challenges of globalization and technology, so Kiai need innovative strategies that combine traditional values with modern education without eliminating their Islamic identity. This study examines the leadership strategy of KH Muhsin Bais Suaidi in developing the Miftahul Ulum Al- Azizah Yosorati Sumber Baru Jember Islamic Boarding School. This study uses qualitative research method with phenomenological approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation with a focus on Kiai Ali's leadership and its impact on the development of the Islamic boarding school. The results of this study indicate that there are seven main strategies used by KH Muhsin Bais Suaidi in the development of Miftahul Ulum Al- Azizah Yosorati Islamic Boarding School, namely: realizing the vision and mission of the Islamic Boarding School, strengthening spiritual foundations, building loyalty, developing students'skills, encouraging innovation, improving educational facilities, and establishing external copertion.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with diverse religions, cultures, ethnicities, and traditions. This condition makes Indonesian society live in a pluralistic and multicultural environment. In reality, social conflicts in the name of religion still frequently occur, including violence, destruction of places of worship, and mutual suspicion among community groups. This indicates that religious education has not fully succeeded in instilling the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence amidst differences. This study aims to explain the importance of developing a multicultural-based Islamic Religious Education curriculum in fostering tolerance and harmonious social life. The method used in this research is a literature study by examining various theories, concepts, and perspectives regarding multicultural education. The results of the study show that multicultural education can serve as a solution in reducing social conflicts and instilling the values of justice, democracy, and respect for cultural and religious diversity. Through an inclusive curriculum and humanistic learning approaches, students are expected to understand the importance of living peacefully within a diverse society. In addition, teachers play an important role in instilling attitudes of tolerance, empathy, and respect for differences. Therefore, the development of a multicultural-based Islamic Religious Education curriculum becomes one of the strategic steps in building a moderate, open-minded generation capable of maintaining national unity.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the speed and fluency of Qur'an reading through the intensive use of the Qiroati method among students at TPQ Nurul Islam. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were 15 second-level students. Data were collected through observation and reading tests, while data analysis used descriptive quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ Qur'an reading ability. In the pre-cycle stage, learning mastery was only 20%, with most students categorized as low. In cycle I, mastery improved to 60%, indicating progress in the good category. Furthermore, in cycle II, learning mastery increased significantly to more than 80%, with most students achieving good and very good categories. This improvement indicates that the intensive application of the Qiroati method is effective in enhancing students’ reading speed and fluency. Therefore, the Qiroati method can be considered an effective instructional strategy for improving Qur'an reading skills among TPQ students.

Abstract

Globalization has brought significant changes to the education system, social interaction patterns, and character development of students in the modern era. These conditions require Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers to have professionalism that is adaptive to technological developments, social change, and global cultural challenges. This study aims to analyze the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in the era of globalization, including the position and role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in society, the relationship between Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers and students, and the challenges of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in facing the currents of globalization. The study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods through literature reviews and historical analyses. Research data were obtained from various scientific articles, national and international journals, academic books, and other relevant scientific sources through academic databases such as Google Scholar and Garuda. Data analysis techniques were carried out through systematic data reduction, classification, interpretation, and content analysis. The results of the study indicate that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers have a strategic position as educators, moral guides, agents of character formation, and mediators of religious values ​​amidst the dynamics of globalization. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers also play an important role in society as role models and promoters of religious moderation. In their relationships with students, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers function as learning facilitators, moral counselors, and spiritual guides. However, globalization presents various challenges in the form of digital technology development, moral degradation, foreign cultural influences, and low mastery of learning innovations among some teachers. Therefore, strengthening the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers through improving pedagogical competence, digital literacy, and developing religious character is a crucial need in facing 21st-century education. This study confirms that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teacher professionalism is a fundamental element in building a generation that is religious, moderate, and globally competitive.

Abstract

Islamic education is a comprehensive process of human development aimed at shaping individuals who are faithful, pious, knowledgeable, and possess noble character. Education in Islam does not merely focus on intellectual aspects, but also includes spiritual, moral, and physical development. The purpose of Islamic education is directed toward achieving happiness in both this world and the hereafter, as well as forming the perfect human being (insan kamil). The Qur’an, as the primary source of Islamic teachings, provides guidance concerning the goals, methods, and values of education. Surah Ali Imran verses 138–139 affirm that the Qur’an is a guidance for mankind and that Islamic education should be able to develop individuals who are strong, optimistic, and steadfast in their faith.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the Qur’an reading ability of Grade 3 TPQ students at Madrasah Nurul Huda through the implementation of the Iqro’ method. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 12 students who were studying Iqro’ levels 5–6. Data were collected through Qur’an reading ability tests, classroom observations during the learning process, and documentation as supporting data. The results showed that the implementation of the Iqro’ method significantly improved the students’ Qur’an reading ability. In the pre-cycle stage, the learning mastery level reached only 33.3%, which increased to 83.3% in Cycle I and reached 100% in Cycle II. The improvement was reflected in the students’ fluency in reading, accuracy in pronouncing the Arabic letters according to their proper articulation points (makharijul huruf), and their ability to distinguish between long and short recitations. In addition, the students demonstrated greater self-confidence and participation during the learning process. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Iqro’ method is effective in improving the Qur’an reading ability of Grade 3 TPQ students at Madrasah Nurul Huda.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ ability to read the Qur’an through the implementation of flipcard teaching aids using the Tartila approach at TPQ Al-Maliki Mayangan Probolinggo. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study were 10 students. Data were collected through observation and reading tests, focusing on pronunciation accuracy (makhraj), application of tajwid rules, and reading fluency. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ Qur’an reading ability. In the pre-cycle stage, the learning mastery level was only 30%. After the implementation in Cycle I, it increased to 70%, and in Cycle II, it reached 100%. This improvement indicates that the use of flipcard teaching aids combined with the Tartila approach effectively enhances students’ engagement, understanding, and reading skills. In conclusion, the implementation of flipcard teaching aids through the Tartila approach is effective in improving Qur’an reading ability. This study implies that teachers should utilize interactive and varied instructional media and apply appropriate teaching approaches to create more effective and meaningful learning experiences.
